The stone is sealed with Roman iron might,
A final barrier ‘gainst the world’s despair;
No psalm ascends, no flicker breaks the night—
The Word made flesh lies silent, cold, and bare.

In linen folds, anointed deep with myrrh,
The King of kings has entered death’s embrace;
His sacred form, once radiant, now interred,
Emptied of glory in this shadowed place.

Creation groans in sympathetic hush,
The sun itself in mourning veils its face;
Within the rock-hewn womb, the divine hush
Conceals the mystery of redeeming grace.

For while we weep with Mary at the door,
And scattered friends in fear and sorrow hide,
The promise spoken echoes faint once more—
“On the third day I rise,” though hope has died.

O holy silence, forge of purest gold,
Where hope seems slain and every promise dies—
Yet here the Victor, veiled in mortal cold,
Proclaims the triumph that the cross supplies.

We wait, suspended ‘twixt the cross and crown,
Our hearts a bridge ‘twixt sorrow and the dawn;
Teach us, O Christ, though joy is not yet known,
That victory lives within the cross’s power.

When dawn shall come and roll the stone aside,
The grave-clothes folded, witness to Thy power—
Then we shall know: in silence Thou didst bide,
And death itself surrendered in that hour.

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

We are royal heirs of the King of Kings,
Born of His blood, crowned with holy things.
When we wait upon Him in stillness and trust,
He lifts us on eagles’ wings from the dust.

No longer bound by the weight of the ground,
We rise on the wind where His glory is found.
Higher than sorrow, above every storm,
Carried by power that keeps us transformed.

Heirs of the Kingdom, co-heirs with the Son,
Our inheritance bright as the morning has come.
So we wait with expectation, we wait with delight—
For the King of all Kings makes our darkness take flight.

With wings wide and fearless, we soar through the skies,
Renewed in His presence where true freedom lies.
Royal heirs forever, forever we sing:
All glory and honor to Jesus our King!

It is finished.

The final breath, the veil in two,
The ancient curse forever through.
No more the shadow, no more the chain—
The Lamb has conquered, the Lion has slain.

It is finished.

The debt is paid in crimson flood,
The grave is empty, the tomb is good.
What hell had stolen, heaven restores;
The King has risen—death is no more.

It is finished.

Glorious dawn breaks over the night,
Hope like a river, endless and bright.
Every promise, every word kept true,
The battle is won—beloved, for you.

It is finished.

Victorious thunder rolls through the skies,
The saints arise with jubilant cries.
No power can sever what grace has sealed;
In Christ alone, the victory is revealed.

It is finished—
and all is made new.
Hallelujah.
The story is true.

We come not as the condemned before the bar,
Where Justice wields her unrelenting scar;
No guilty hands hang limp in dark despair,
No downcast eyes await the sentence there.

But lo! we stand before the Throne of Grace,
Where Mercy shines upon the sinner’s face.
Why, then, O soul, this sadness veiled in night,
When Heaven’s King invites thee to His light?

If thou wert called to justice’ awful seat,
Thy trembling frame might justly fear defeat;
But now the Sovereign in His silken love,
Robed in compassion from His throne above,

Bids thee approach with joy, with sacred fire,
And let thy countenance in gladness shine entire.
No more the weight of sin thy spirit binds—
The blood of Christ has loosed all guilty chains.

Lift up thy head, let holy delight arise,
Let praise ascend as incense to the skies;
For thou art favored, called, and dearly known,
Before the King who claims thee as His own.

Rejoice, beloved, in this boundless grace,
And meet His gaze with unveiled, radiant face.
The Throne that once would strike now bids thee sing—
Draw near, O soul, and worship Christ the King.

We come not trembling to the Judge’s bar,
Where guilty souls in fear and shame would stand;
No thunderous voice condemns us from afar,
But mercy’s gentle scepter rules the land.

Why then, O soul, this sadness on thy face,
When thou approachest Heaven’s Throne of Grace?
If justice held thee in its stern embrace,
Thy hands would hang, thy eyes in dread abase.

Yet now the King in robes of love appears,
Silken with grace, with boundless favor crowned;
He bids thee draw with joy, dispelling fears,
And calls thee near where holy peace is found.

Let not thy countenance in sorrow bend,
But shine with sacred delight and holy fire;
For thou art favored, loved, and called His friend—
Come, child of grace, and lift thy heart entire.

The veil is torn, the blood has spoken peace,
No condemnation waits where grace abounds;
Rejoice, O soul, and let all mourning cease,
Before the Throne where endless mercy sounds.

In Jerusalem’s shadowed upper room,
Where Passover’s slain lamb and blood-marked door
Still whispered of the angel’s dread perfume,
The Master knelt—though heaven’s King of yore.

He laid aside His garments, took the basin bright,
And wrapped a linen cloth about His frame,
Then poured the water, cool as Jordan’s night,
To cleanse the dust from feet worn by the flame

Of desert roads and Galilean wave,
The tax-man’s sandals scarred by Roman dust,
And one disciple’s step already grave—
Yet Jesus stooped to serve them as He must.

His hands that calmed the storm and raised the dead
Now cradled heels with tenderness profound,
Like mother’s touch upon a weary head,
In lamplight’s glow where holy love abound.

Peter protested loud with fervent cry,
“Lord, never shall You wash these feet of mine!”
But gentle answer came from heaven’s sky:
“If not, thou hast no part, no share divine.”

Then yielded he: “Lord, wash my hands and head!”
The Savior smiled beneath the golden light,
Knowing the path of love that lay ahead—
The full extent He’d show before the night.

He took the bread, unleavened, pierced, and striped,
Gave thanks, and broke it with hands yet unscarred:
“This is My body, given for your life.”
The cup of crimson wine He then prepared:

“My blood of new covenant, shed for sin’s release,
For many, for remission full and free.”
The elements passed round in solemn peace,
While grace flowed deeper than the swelling sea.

“A new command I give,” His voice rang clear,
Like thunder clothed in mercy’s softest tone,
“That you love one another, as I have loved here—
By serving, stooping, bleeding for your own.”

Not Sinai’s stone, but love that bends the knee,
That lays down life for friend and enemy.

Outside, Gethsemane’s olives gleamed in moon,
Their silver leaves soon pierced by torch and blade.
Inside, the air bore myrrh and coming doom,
With scent of broken bread and wine displayed.

We stand there still, you and I, in that dim place,
Our feet dust-laden from the world’s long road,
Hearts prone to wander, seeking His embrace,
Yet called to serve as He, our Servant, showed.

The basin waits. The linen waits as well.
The bread and cup He offers once again.
Come, kneel. Come, eat. Come, drink. Come, do His will.
And love as He loved—to the uttermost pain.

For this the night He was betrayed, yet loved
Us to the end, the God who stooped so low—
Washing, feeding, commanding from above,
The Lamb, the Man, the King we kneel to know.

Behold Him here: the Servant-King who reigns
By cross and mercy, in unfailing grace.

The Lord Reigneth: Let the Earth Rejoice in His Unshaken Throne by Debbie Harris

(Inspired by Psalm 93:1–4; 97:1)

The Lord reigneth! Let storms rage on and roar,
The floods rise high with thunder in their might—
Their crashing waves pound loud upon the shore,
A wild and furious noise that shakes the night.

They lift their voice in chaos, fierce and deep,
The thunder of the waters fills the air,
Yet high above, where endless glories keep,
The Lord is stronger—calm beyond compare.

No roar of mighty seas can shake His throne,
No pounding waves can drown His holy word;
The noise that once would leave the heart alone
Grows still before the power of the Lord.

O weary soul, when troubles crash and cry,
When fears like breakers break upon your shore,
Lift up your voice and let this truth reply:
The Lord reigneth—peace forevermore!

Let earth be glad, let trembling hearts find song,
For He who rules is Love, forever true;
Amid the roar, His reign remains so strong—
Rejoice, be glad: the Lord reigneth in you!

The Great Cloud of Witnesses: A Heavenly Throng Encircling the Race of Faith by Debbie Harris

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Hebrews 12:1 (KJV)

Beneath the vault of heaven’s boundless dome,
Where silver stars in silent vigil gleam,
A mighty cloud of witnesses has come—
Not mist of earth, but souls in living dream.

They rise like dawn along the eastern rim,
Abel with lamb, his offering still bright;
Enoch, who walked with God and never dimmed,
Transported pure into eternal light.

Noah stands firm on waves that roared and broke,
His ark a cradle ‘mid the deluge’s roar;
Abraham lifts his gaze through fire and smoke,
Counting the stars that promise evermore.

Sarah laughs soft where barren years once reigned,
Her child a miracle in withered arms;
Moses ascends where Sinai’s thunder waned,
His face aglow with unconsuming charms.

Rahab’s scarlet cord gleams like a rose in flame,
A thread of mercy binding foe to friend;
The prophets, scarred yet singing God’s great name,
Their voices blend where earthly trails descend.

They throng the galleries of timeless air,
A vast assembly, radiant and vast—
Not spectators cold, but witnesses who share
The fire that kindles faith steadfast.

Surrounded thus, we shed our heavy chains,
The clinging sin, the weights that drag us low;
We loose the burdens born of doubt and pains,
And rise to run where living rivers flow.

The track lies clear, marked out by ancient grace,
Through shadowed vales and peaks of golden day;
With eyes on Him who fixed His gaze in place—
The cross’s shame, the joy that lights the way.

O cloud of glory, shimmering and near,
Your stories gleam like constellations wide;
We press on swift, for love has conquered fear,
And heaven’s chorus calls us to abide.

So run, beloved, with heart aflame and free,
Till we shall join that throng beyond the veil,
Where every witness bows in ecstasy
Before the Lamb who makes all sorrow pale.

The Precious Word of God: An Epic in Heroic Couplets on the Divine Allegories of Scripture by Debbie Harris

O Holy Spirit, breathe upon my soul,
Inspire these lines to make Thy glories whole!
Open our eyes to see, our hearts to burn,
As once Thou didst when ancient prophets learned.

In countless forms Thy living Word appears,
More rich than treasures, brighter than the spheres.
First, living Bread from heaven’s table sent,
When man by earthly food alone is spent.
“Man shall not live by bread alone,” He cried,
But by each word from God’s own mouth supplied.
Thus souls are nourished where all else would fail,
And life eternal springs where death prevailed.

More precious Gold than Ophir’s hidden store,
Refined seven times, its purity evermore.
Like Silver tested in the furnace flame,
Its truth endures, untainted, without blame.
A hidden Treasure buried in the field,
For which the finder sells all else to yield;
With joy he purchases that matchless gain,
And heaven’s riches flood his heart again.

As Fire it burns with purifying blaze,
Consuming dross, yet kindling holy praise.
A Hammer mighty, breaking stubborn stone,
Shattering hearts where pride has claimed its throne.
Both fire and hammer from one source proceed—
The Word that wounds, yet heals the soul in need:
It crushes sin, then lights the inward flame—
O wondrous work of mercy and of claim!

Sweet Honey flows from out the Rock divine,
Sweeter than any comb where bees entwine.
No earthly sweetness matches such delight;
It cheers the weary, turns the dark to light.
A Lamp it shines to guide the pilgrim’s way,
A steady gleam through night’s most perilous fray;
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,” we sing,
A Light unto my path—O Light of kings!

Strong Meat it offers those mature in grace,
Who press beyond the cradle to the race.
Yet Milk it gives the newborn child of God,
Pure, gentle, growing faith where once we trod.
A Mirror true, no flattering lie it shows,
Revealing heart and conscience as it glows;
The one who looks and forgets his true face
Remains unchanged; the doer finds God’s grace.

As Medicine it heals the broken frame,
Life to the seeker, health to all who claim;
Its balm restores where sickness held its reign,
And makes the wounded spirit whole again.

As Seed it falls on every kind of ground—
By wayside, rocks, or thorns where weeds abound—
Yet in the good soil, fertile, deep, and true,
It springs to life, a hundred-fold anew.
Like Rain and Snow from heaven’s heights it falls,
Descending soft to answer heaven’s calls;
It waters earth, makes deserts bloom and sing,
Accomplishes God’s will in everything—
No empty return, but harvest rich and vast,
The Word that crowns the future and the past!

A Sword of the Spirit, two-edged, keen, and bright,
It pierces soul and spirit, wrong from right;
In warfare fierce against the powers of night,
The saint wields it—and claims the victor’s right!

And living Water, crystal, pure, and free,
It washes clean where guilt once stained the knee.
The Word as water sanctifies the bride,
No spot, no wrinkle left when once applied.

Thus every form Thy precious Word assumes:
Bread, gold, and silver; treasure, fire, and blooms
Of honey; lamp and light, and hammer’s claim;
Meat, milk, and mirror, medicine’s healing name;
Seed, rain, and snow, sword, water—rich and vast.
All meet in Thee—the soul redeemed at last.

O seeking soul, forsake the world’s poor gain!
Embrace this Word and never thirst again.
Let every image—feed, refine, reveal,
Heal, plant, and cleanse—Thy heart and mind anneal,
Till Christ alone is formed in thee complete,
And endless glory crowns the Word we meet!

Blessed Are They Which Do Hunger and Thirst After Righteousness II by Debbie Harris

As the deer pants for the water-brooks so clear,
So pants the soul for God, the living Spring;
In dry and weary land, no water near,
It thirsts for righteousness, the heart’s true King.
Blessed are they who hunger, thirst, and seek,
For they shall be with satisfaction filled.

No bread of earth, no fleeting worldly store,
Can slake the famine deep within the breast;
But come to waters free, as prophets swore,
Buy wine and milk where God Himself is guest.
Seek first His kingdom, seek His righteousness,
And all these things shall unto you be pressed.

The soul, like cracked earth longing for the rain,
Cries out for purity that God bestows;
Not works of flesh, but faith’s redeeming gain—
Christ made our sin, that we His right might know.
The LORD our Righteousness, exalted high,
Imputes His robe where sinners once did lie.

Like manna fallen in the desert waste,
So falls His grace upon the humbled heart;
No striving self can frame what God has placed—
A gift of mercy, never to depart.
The soul ascends, in holy longing drawn,
To taste the fullness promised in His dawn.

O Lord, revive this thirst that never dies,
As streams in desert make the wasteland sing;
Till every chamber of the spirit lies
Flooded with righteousness the Savior brings.
Satisfied forever, blessed and whole,
The hungry soul beholds Thee face to face.

Let this desire increase through every trial,
As rivers join the sea in boundless flow;
Endless in Thee, where grace removes all guile,
The thirsting find their rest, their all, their know.
For they who hunger thus shall surely see
The promise kept: “They shall be filled with Me.”
