Spiritually Curious, Biblically Illiterate: Behold Your Sin, See the Savior’s Love, and Live by Debbie Harris

In shadowed halls where seekers chase false lights,

A restless generation wanders blind;

Spiritually curious through endless nights,

Yet biblically illiterate—lost in mind.

They grasp at crystals, stars, and trending lore,

While Heaven’s Book lies dusty on the shelf;

Foundations crumble that their fathers bore,

The Holy Scriptures, silenced for themselves.

O tragic void! The Rock of Ages spurned,

The Word made flesh rejected in their pride;

They quote the self but never Christ have learned,

Who bled upon the tree for them, and died.

Yet in this darkness gleams the Gospel ray—

“Repent and trust!” the Bible’s trumpet cries;

For Jesus rose, the Stone the builders slay,

And offers living waters from on high.

Behold the Scriptures! Open wide the page,

Where Genesis whispers of the Lamb foretold;

Psalms crown Him King, Isaiah paints His wage—

The suffering Servant, purchased with His gold.

John thunders grace: “In the beginning, He!”

The cross stands tall where wrath and mercy meet;

The tomb is empty—death has lost its key—

Salvation’s door swings wide for sinners’ feet.

Though illiteracy has veiled the ancient flame,

The Holy Bible burns with Christ alone;

No other name, no other way, no claim—

But Jesus saves the broken, makes them whole.

Awake, ye souls! Take up the sacred Book,

Behold your sin in Scripture’s piercing light;

See Christ’s great love—His blood for sinners took—

Repent, believe: a new creation rises bright!

O come and drink! The greatest Story calls:

From dust to glory, death to life anew;

The tragedy dissolves in blood-bought grace—

In Jesus’ name, salvation waits for you.

A Call to Berean Fidelity by Debbie Harris

Just because one walks through hallowed halls,

Where scholars pore o’er ancient tomes and scrolls,

And dons the robe with letters on the walls,

It means not that the living Spirit calls.

For many now with titles proudly stand,

And claim to speak for God with learned tongue;

Yet twist the sacred text with cunning hand,

Exalting self where holy fear is wrung.

The law is for the proud who trust their might,

Who boast in works and human righteousness;

But grace is for the broken, contrite heart—

The wounded soul the Lord alone will bless.

Be like the noble Bereans of old,

Who searched the Scriptures daily, line by line;

Though Paul himself had preached the truth foretold,

They tested all against the Word divine.

No seminary, doctorate, or fame

Can substitute for trembling at His Book;

In this dark age of bold apostate claim,

Cling fast to Scripture—let no teacher crook.

For wolves now dress in academic guise,

With polished speech that flatters itching ears;

They preach a lawless “grace” that never tries

The heart, but leaves the sinner dry of tears.

Test every spirit, every novel word,

Though wrapped in robes of learning, soft and wise;

The law exposes pride, but grace restored

Brings life to those who fall before His eyes.

The humble saint who knows no lofty school

May walk more closely with the risen Lord;

While eloquent deceivers play the fool,

And twist God’s truth into a twisted chord.

Let every heart bow low before the throne,

And search the Scriptures with a holy fear;

The law is for the proud—grace for the broken shown—

In days when blasphemy is proudly near.

For Christ alone is Head of all the Church,

His Word the final, sole authority;

No human title, platform, or research

Replaces “Thus saith God” in purity.

Stand therefore, saints, with lamp and sword in hand,

Unmoved by trends or scholarly applause;

In this last hour, across this troubled land,

Be true to Scripture and to Jesus Christ.

May All Humanity Choose Jesus Christ As Their Lord and King by Debbie Harris

Romans 1:28 (KJV)

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Choose Christ whose word is deep,

Whose voice still calls across the storm,

When hearts grow cold and consciences sleep,

And shadows lengthen into form.

The world will offer glittering chains,

Pleasures bright but quickly spent,

Yet His words cut through the haze of pains—

Eternal, sharp, and heaven-sent.

In Romans’ warning, clear and true,

We see what comes when God steps back:

A mind reprobate, without a clue,

Approving darkness, courting black.

But turn—O turn before the door

Swings shut upon the soul’s last plea.

Choose Christ, the Lamb who bled and bore

The wrath we earned on Calvary.

His word is deep as oceans wide,

Yet gentle as a shepherd’s staff;

It pierces, heals, and stands beside

The broken, calling wanderers back.

Choose life, not death disguised as light.

Choose truth, not lies that taste like wine.

Choose Him who rose and conquered night—

The only path where hope will shine.

Let every idol fall and break,

Let every lesser love release.

In Christ alone your soul will wake,

And find the rest that brings true peace.

Before the giving over comes,

Before the mind is sealed in stone—

Choose Christ. His mercy overcomes.

His word is deep. You are not alone

Feathered with Mercy, Tipped with Truth: The Complex Grace of Holy Boldness by Debbie Harris

Dear Precious Reader,

I wrote this poem with trembling hands and a burning heart. In a world that so often confuses volume with courage and sharpness with strength, I felt the Spirit whisper a deeper invitation: to be bold without becoming harsh, to speak truth without wounding for the sake of wounding. This is not a rebuke of passion — far from it. It is a love letter to the narrow path where the lion and the lamb walk together. True boldness in Christ is not loud; it is clear. It is not rude; it is fearless. It is feathered with mercy so that when it flies, it pierces lies without destroying hearts. My prayer is that these words would stir something holy in you — a courage that is gentle, a fire that warms rather than consumes, and a love that refuses to stay silent. May you carry this tension well: humble enough to listen, brave enough to speak, and Christlike enough to do both at the same time. You are not called to be obnoxious for Jesus. You are called to be like Him.

With affection and hope,

The Poet

Structure Summary:

The piece follows a clean, layered structure that opens with the main title “Feathered with Mercy, Tipped with Truth” and its subtitle “The Complex Grace of Holy Boldness”. Immediately beneath the title sits a rich Scripture epigraph featuring all six KJV verses stacked one after another in italics, each followed by its reference. This scriptural foundation is then followed directly by the full poem, presented under the title and rendered in its original free-verse stanzas with natural line breaks and spacing. The overall flow moves from Title → Scripture → Poetry, creating a reverent and focused progression that feels intentional.

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
— Ephesians 4:15

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
— Galatians 5:22-23

Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:
— 2 Corinthians 10:1

“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
— Proverbs 28:1

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
— Acts 4:29

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
— 2 Timothy 1:7

In the quiet forge where the Spirit breathes,
a flame is kindled — not wildfire, but steady gold.
Boldness in Christ rises like dawn on the sea,
not the crash of cymbals demanding to be heard,
but the clear note of a trumpet carried on wind.

It is courage clothed in kindness,
a lion’s heart wrapped in the wool of the Lamb.
Not the swagger of swords drawn too soon,
nor the noise that scatters the wounded,
but the steady gaze of love that refuses to flinch
when truth must stand naked before the crowd.

The fruit hangs heavy on one Tree:
love first, then joy, peace, patience —
gentleness holding the reins of power.
Boldness is no orphan virtue;
it walks hand-in-hand with self-control,
lest it stumble into the ditch of pride
and call its own echo “prophecy.”

How complex the dance, how narrow the blade —
to speak fire without scorching the tender reed,
to overturn tables yet wash the feet of betrayers,
to declare “Thus says the Lord”
while tears carve rivers down the same cheeks.

Obnoxious is easy; flesh loves volume,
loves the thrill of being right and loud together.
But the Spirit’s boldness is harder —
a whisper that splits mountains,
a stillness that routs armies,
a cross lifted high in the teeth of empire
without a single curse flung back.

So let us be bold, beloved,
as arrows loosed from the Archer’s hand —
feathered with mercy, tipped with truth,
straight, swift, and singing.
Aimed not to wound for wounding’s sake
but to pierce the lie and heal the heart.

For the same Spirit that made Peter roar at Pentecost
also made him weep outside the high priest’s door.
Boldness without love is brass.
Love without boldness is shadow.
Together they are Christ —
crucified, risen, and still speaking
through clay jars that tremble,
yet refuse to be silent.

Walk then in this holy tension:
humble enough to listen,
brave enough to answer,
gentle enough to be heard,
and fierce enough to be faithful.
This is the fruit —
ripened in secret,
offered in public,
sweet and sharp on the tongue of a broken world.

Dear Precious Reader,

Beloved of the Risen King, you who read these lines with weary eyes or hopeful heart—whether your hands are empty or your spirit feels the weight of unseen battles,know this: I write to you.I see you.The one who gives the cup of water when your own throat is dry. The one who breaks the loaf for hungry strangers while your own table is sparse. The one who prays in secret, sows in silence, and rises each morning to love anyway, though no trumpet sounds and no crowd applauds.Do not lose heart, dear one. Your labor is written in indelible light. Every quiet kindness, every tear offered in prayer, every act of faithfulness done in the shadow of “not enough” —these are not forgotten. They are seeds. And the Risen Gardener tends them with hands that still bear the scars of love.When the world tells you that your portion is small, remember: the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills calls you His child. When iron gates of circumstance refuse to open, remember: the stone that sealed the tomb was rolled away by the breath of God. Nothing can stand against the Victor who conquered death for you.So lift your head, precious reader. Let your hidden deeds shine like stars in the night sky of this passing age.The heavenly ledger is open, and the angels rejoice over every cup poured, every loaf shared, every chain-breaking word spoken in His name.Your poverty is only temporary.Your treasure is eternal. And on that Day when the Lion and the Lamb welcome you home, you will hear the words that make every hidden tear worth it:“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Master.”Until then, keep sowing.Keep loving.Keep believing. The dawn is coming. Christ is risen — and because He lives, your story is not over. It is only beginning.With all the affection of a fellow pilgrim who knows the road is narrow but the reward is infinite,

Your sister in the Risen King

To every child of little means who sows in secret—
cup of water, loaf of bread, and quiet faithfulness—
your labor is not in vain.
This is for you, beloved of the Risen King.

When earthly coffers stand with iron gates
And mortal wealth slips through the beggar’s hand,
When fields lie fallow, sealed by cruel fates,
And hope itself seems buried in the sand—

Fear not, O soul! Lift high thy conquering head!
Let not thy heart in shadowed silence pine,
Nor envy those who heap their fleeting store—
For Christ has triumphed! He is risen from the dead!
Thy righteousness, thy victory divine!

His scarlet robe now clothes thee royally,
His wounded hands have shattered every chain;
What earth denies, His boundless triumph brings,
And crowns thy poverty with endless gain!

Arise and shine! Let every righteous deed
Blaze as thy treasure—cup of water poured,
A loaf for hungry souls in deepest need,
A word that breaks the captive’s iron cord!

These are the coins no thief can ever claim,
The gold no rust nor moth shall e’er defile.
The heavenly ledgers blaze with living flame,
Recording every act with heaven’s joyful smile.

So labor not for dust that time devours—
Sow boldly in His love and reap eternal powers!
For Christ the Victor lives and reigns in thee—
Thy present strength, thy song, thy royalty!

When evening falls and earthly lights grow dim,
When labor seems but scattered seed once sown,
Look up! The risen King who conquered sin
Prepares His banquet at His glorious throne.

There every tear upon the barren ground,
Each hidden kindness offered in the night,
Shall blaze as crowns of glory, jewel-crowned,
In mansions flooded with unquenchable light!

Therefore, rejoice, thou child of little means—
Thy Father rules the measure of thy days!
Let Jesus be thy wealth, thy joy, thy dreams;
Let His triumphant Name be all thy praise!

This fleeting life shall soon be swallowed whole
In everlasting triumph, full and vast.
The Lion and the Lamb upon the throne
Declares thee victor—“Enter joy at last!”

Hallelujah! Christ is risen! Death is slain!
All hail the Lamb who reigns forevermore!
My treasure is in heaven—Christ alone—
My King, my Victory, my All in All!

Humanity’s Shadowed Light: Complexities of the Christless Heart by Debbie Harris

In shadowed vales where no Redeemer trod,
Yet common grace still scatters seeds of good,
Man bears the image, marred but not erased,
And often walks with noble heart and mood.
He loves his children, tends the wounded beast,
Gives alms in secret, risks his life for friend;
Yet in his breast the ancient serpent’s yeast
Still works unseen, and waits its fatal end.

Without the Cross, the soul retains its spark—
Bright deeds of mercy, courage, truth, and art—
But lacks the root that holds it through the dark,
The living Vine that binds the fractured heart.
Thus cruelty, though not in every breast,
Finds easier soil where Christ is not enthroned;
It wears a thousand faces, finely dressed,
In systems cold where love is never owned.

Behold the cultured man of gentle speech,
Who weeps at poetry and feeds the poor,
Yet votes for laws that grind the helpless each,
Or turns away when conscience knocks his door.
The tender mother, fierce in love’s employ,
May still despise the stranger at her gate;
The honest scholar, seeker after joy,
May justify the scaffold and the hate.

O complex race! Half angel, half in chains—
Thou buildest hospitals, yet prisons too;
Thou singest ballads sweet of soft refrains,
Then march to war with hymns of vengeance new.
Thou pitiest horses, dogs, and woodland deer,
Yet traffic souls for pleasure or for gain;
Thou speakest peace, yet harbor secret fear
That turns to cruelty when loss brings pain.

Not every soul without the Savior’s name
Is brute or tyrant walking earth’s sad sod;
Yet all, unanchored, drift toward the same
Slow-cooling love, the gradual death of God.
For conscience fades when not renewed by grace,
And self becomes the measure and the law;
The kinder heart grows weary in the race,
And turns at last to serve its hidden flaw.

Thus shines a twilight beauty, real yet frail,
A borrowed light that glimmers, then grows dim;
Till Christ restore the heart that will not fail,
And flood with dawn what now is veiled and grim.
O fallen race, in whom such glories dwell,
Yet chained to shadows deeper than we see—
Come to the Lamb whose mercy cannot fail,
Lest even thy kindness prove a gilded tree.

Awake, O Righteous! A Thundering Cry Against the Intellectual Atrocities of Modern Universities and the Urgent Call to Rescue Our Youth by the Sword of Truth, The Holy Bible by Debbie Harris

In shadowed halls where once the Muses sang
Of truth and virtue, now the serpent’s fang
Doth pierce the tender minds of youth betrayed,
By cloaked professors in their gowns arrayed.
They preach the lie that God is dead and gone,
That flesh is all, and Heaven but a dawn
Of foolish fable; they exalt the base,
The lust of self, the pride of every race,
The twisted creed that mocks the sacred law
And calls the foulest vice a righteous cause.

Thus universities, those once-bright fanes,
Are turned to temples of demonic chains,
Where youth, once pure as lilies in the field,
Are taught to scorn the harvest God would yield.

Yet rise, O righteous! Lift the ancient sword
Of truth undimmed, the timeless, living Word!
Be not as reeds that bend before the gale,
Nor silent watchmen sleeping at the pale.
The hour demands bold hearts and steadfast feet—
Go forth as lions where the dragons meet!
Storm the groves of Academe with light,
With courage kindled by the Spirit’s might.
Let every father, mother, saint, and sage
Confront the lie that poisons youth’s young age.

Stand in the classrooms, stand in council halls,
Proclaim the Cross that breaks the strongest walls.
Write, speak, and pray with voices like the thunder;
Expose the darkness, rend its veils asunder.
Teach truth at home where universities fail,
Raise sons and daughters armored in the mail
Of righteousness. Let not one soul be lost
To intellectual atrocities’ cost.
Though scorn and cancel may assail your name,
The crown of life awaits the overcoming flame.

Ye scholars of the King, awake and rise!
The battle is not yours, but His who dies
And rose again. Go forth with holy fire,
To rescue minds and set the captives higher.
No compromise with Babel’s gilded tongue—
The righteous must be bold, the righteous strong.
For when the Savior comes in clouds of glory,
He shall not ask if ye were safe and sorry,
But whether ye contended for the faith,
Defended lambs against the wolves of death.

O universities, once Athens’ heirs,
Now fallen towers of unrighteous cares,
Thy day of pomp shall end in smoke and shame;
The Judge shall call each tempter by his name.
Repent, ye teachers! Ere the trumpet sound,
Cast down your idols, seek the holy ground.

But ye, beloved, take up the standard high—
A bold and courageous stand beneath the sky!
The youth may yet be freed by grace divine;
The faithful warriors shall in triumph shine.

Thus ends the call in rhyme of ancient mode:
Corruption’s wage is paid before God’s throne—
Yet victory waits for those who dare to fight
With truth and courage in the Savior’s light.

Friend of God, Stranger to This World: Where True Celebration Awaits in Heaven by Debbie Harris

A faithful heart performs its sacred art—
Unseen deeds like incense, pure and bold,
Rising through the veil, untouched by earthly praise.

No trumpet sounds, no laurel crowns descend,
No crowds applaud the hands that serve in night.
The friend of God walks where few comprehend,
A stranger here, whose path the world calls slight.

For this world crowns its loud and gilded own,
The flash, the fame, the fleeting golden lie.
But Heaven’s ledger marks the seeds unsown
To mortal sight—each tear, each prayer, each sigh.

There, in the Lamb’s pure light, the veil will part,
And unseen labors bloom in endless day.
The Friend who sees in secret, searches heart,
Will celebrate with joy that none can take away.

So labor on, beloved, in holy shade,
Though earth forget, let not your spirit grieve.
The true ovation waits where stars are made—
In Heaven’s hall, where even silence sings.

Well done, thou good and faithful—enter in.
The crown of life outshines all earthly din.

awaken in your heart
an exuberant and grateful joy—
like dawn breaking golden

Only Christ by Debbie Harris

Only Christ” flowed from a deep conviction that nothing and no one else can satisfy the longings of the human heart. Only Jesus offers true kindness, forgiveness, transforming grace, and lasting peace. May this simple poem point many to the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

John 14:6 – Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life…

Acts 4:12 – And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

Romans 10:13 – For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

There is a kindness only Christ can give.
There is a forgiveness only Christ can give.
There is a mercy only Christ can give.
There is a love only Christ can give.
There is a grace only Christ can give.
There is a relationship only Christ can give.

There is a transformed heart, soul, and mind
Christ alone can give.
There is a hope only Christ can give.
There is a peace only Christ can give.
There is provision only Christ can give.

There is only one Savior of the world —
Jesus Christ our Lord.
He is the Truth, the Way, and the Life.

O sinners, all come to Jesus our Savior.
Repent and live.
