A Note from the Poet

Dear Reader, these humble lines were born of a simple prayer once uttered in quiet longing: that the Lord might grant us not the fleeting treasures of this world, but a wise and understanding heart—the only riches that endure. May they stir in thee the same desire that moved Solomon of old, and may the God of all wisdom answer them in thee as He did in him.

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart… that I may discern between good and bad.

Lord, give us now a wise and understanding heart,

That we may know the good, and from the evil part.

For wisdom’s gentle light shall guide our every way,

And in that sacred gift true riches shall we stay.

Not gold that rusts, nor fame that fades with fleeting breath,

But discernment pure, that conquers fear and death.

A heart that seeks Thy truth, and finds in Thee its rest—

Then are we truly rich, by Heaven’s measure blest.
