Free Verse: Divine Love’s Decree: Repent, Believe, Eternal Life Is Thine by Debbie Harris

God is love.
Not sentiment. Not nostalgia. Not a warm blanket thrown over chaos.
Love that is fire—uncreated, unconsuming of itself,
yet consuming everything that stands against its holiness.

He spoke galaxies into being,
named the dust, gave it breath,
set eternity in the human heart
so it would ache for Him.

Then the fracture:
a turned back, a grasped fruit,
a lie believed louder than the Voice that made light.
Sin entered like smoke—
and love did not flinch.
Love looked straight at the wound
and refused to call it small.

Wrath is what love looks like
when it will not negotiate with death.
Not petty anger. Not loss of control.
Wrath is love saying No
to the thing that murders children,
enslaves image-bearers,
and calls darkness good.

So the Father did not bargain.
He gave.
Gave the Son—
the radiant exact imprint of His being—
gave Him to the wood,
to the nails,
to the full weight of what justice demands.

The cross is where love and wrath kissed—
violent, voluntary, final.
“It is finished,” He said,
and the sky tore open like torn cloth,
the veil between God and rebel torn from top to bottom.

Now the invitation hangs in the air,
simple, unguarded:
Come.
Live.
Believe in the One sent to bear what you could never carry.

To refuse is not neutral.
It is to stand in the open when the storm arrives,
to walk away from the only door
that opens into life.
The wrath remains—
not because God changed His mind,
but because He never lies.
Justice does not evaporate.
It was satisfied
or it will be executed.

Yet even in this moment—
right now—
the pierced hands are still extended.
The voice that called Lazarus from the grave
still calls.
God is love,
and love will not stop calling
until the last heartbeat fades
or the last heart turns home.

Turn, repent, believe,
so that your eyes can not be blinded by the enemy’s lies and deceit!
You must be born again!

The call thunders now,
sharp as a sword, tender as a Father’s plea—
don’t wait.
The light is breaking through.
See it.
Turn.
Be born again.
Live.

Not Hearers Who Forget, But Doers Who Persevere: Freedom Flowing from Finished Grace by Debbie Harris

Do not be hearers only, swift to forget,
But doers of the word implanted deep within;
For in the gospel’s glass your true face is set—
A new creation, cleansed from every sin.

The old law bound with chains of condemnation,
Exposed the flaw but offered no release;
Yet Christ has fulfilled it—perfect liberation—
The law of liberty, granting perfect peace.

Look long into this mirror, see who you are:
Righteous in Him, beloved, fully known;
Not striving now to earn the Father’s star,
But resting in the grace that He has shown.

If you forget and walk as slaves once more,
Deceived by shadows of the former night,
But persevering, acting from His store,
You find the blessing—freedom’s pure delight.

No threat of failure haunts the child of God,
No pressure weighs upon the ransomed soul;
The doing flows from what the cross has bought—
Alive in Christ, made perfect, free, and whole.

So gaze and remember, let the truth abide,
Live from the glory already given thee;
In every step, His Spirit is your guide—
Blessed in the doing, for you’re His eternally.

Thoughts Worth Dwelling On: The Blessed Hope of the Rapture and the Glorious Government of Our Lord Jesus Christ by Debbie Harris

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Phillipians 4:6-9 KJV

O set your heart on things above,
Where Christ shall soon descend in love;
The trumpet sound, the archangel’s cry—
True promise lifts our gaze on high.

What is more true than His sure word?
The dead in Christ shall rise first, assured;
Caught up together in clouds we soar,
To meet the Lord forevermore.

What is more honorable, more just,
Than the King returning in power and trust?
No longer meek upon a lowly ass,
But crowned in glory, the First and Last.

What is more pure than spotless grace,
That calls His bride to yonder place?
Washed white as snow, without a stain,
In robes of righteousness we reign.

How lovely is that day of light,
When shadows flee before His sight!
The earth restored, the curse undone,
Peace flowing like a river’s run.

What good report shall echo wide?
The government on His shoulder abides—
Justice and mercy in perfect blend,
A thousand years of joy without end.

No tyrant sways, no wicked thrives,
For righteousness forever lives;
The wolf with lamb in harmony lies,
The knowledge of the Lord fills earth and skies.

If there be any virtue, any praise,
Then fix your thoughts these coming days:
The rapture’s hope, the throne of gold,
Where Christ is King, and love untold.

Let not the storms of earth prevail,
Nor fleeting fears your peace assail;
But dwell upon this glorious theme—
Our soon-coming Savior, our reigning King supreme.

Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus, come!
In this sweet meditation, find your home.

Marvel of Marvels: Repentance Opens Heaven’s Arms and Seats Us at the Table as Sons and Daughters of God Most High by Debbie Harris

Summary of the Poem

Marvel of Marvels: Repentance Opens Heaven’s Arms and Seats Us at the Table as Sons and Daughters of God Most High

This poem celebrates the breathtaking miracle of divine grace: no matter where a person begins—whether in pride, comfort, sorrow, shame, self-sufficiency, or brokenness—a single moment of honest repentance instantly transforms them into a beloved child of God.

It emphasizes that no one earns this gift through merit, status, or effort. Everyone—rich or poor, proud or humbled, searching or lost—stands on the same level ground of mercy. In one turning of the heart, heaven’s doors swing wide, the Father rushes to embrace, and the repentant soul is not merely forgiven but fully adopted: welcomed, known, crowned, and seated at the family table as a true son or daughter of the King Most High.

The poem overflows with awe at this “marvel of marvels”—how the eternal God redefines us not by what we were, but by His boundless love, making us forever heirs in His kingdom. It is a song of wonder at the overwhelming, unearned intimacy and royalty that grace bestows the instant we say yes to mercy.

From halls of pride or streets of shame,
from comfort’s throne or sorrow’s chain,
one honest cry, one turning heart—
and heaven’s mercy rushes in again.

No merit weighs upon the scale,
no status earns the open door;
the proud, the poor, the seeking soul—
all stand the same on grace’s floor.

A single breath of true repentance,
a whisper turned to living faith,
and distance vanishes in light—
the stranger welcomed, fully embraced.

Behold the wonder: God Most High
stoops low to claim the wandering one;
not servant, slave, or distant guest,
but daughter, son—forever known.

From every nation, tongue, and story,
from every path that led astray,
the Spirit calls, the Father runs,
and crowns the repentant child today.

No longer defined by what we were—
by wealth or want, by strength or fall—
but redefined by love divine:
beloved heirs, and that is all.

Oh boundless grace that makes us royalty,
that seats us where the angels sing;
one moment’s yes to mercy’s call—
and we are children of the King.

I Have Nothing to Glory In But the Cross of Jesus Christ by Debbie Harris

Summary of the Poem

The poem, inspired by Galatians 6:14, expresses the speaker’s rejection of worldly pride—wealth, power, wisdom, and fame—as empty and fleeting. Instead, it celebrates exclusive glory in the cross of Jesus Christ, portrayed as the ultimate symbol of divine love, redemption, and sacrifice. Through vivid imagery of the crucifixion, it contrasts human vanity with the transformative power of Christ’s death, which breaks sin’s chains, heals the broken, and offers eternal hope. The speaker vows lifelong devotion to this “scandalous” truth, culminating in heavenly glory.

(A poem inspired by Galatians 6:14 – “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.”)

In shadowed halls where empires rise and fall,
Where crowns of gold and thrones of pride enthrall,
I stand unbowed, my heart a barren field—
No harvest reaped from flesh’s fleeting yield.

The laurels wilt, the scepters turn to dust,
Ambition’s fire consumes in hollow lust;
Wealth whispers lies, and fame’s bright banner fades,
Leaving the soul in echoes of parades.

Yet one lone beam pierces the midnight veil,
A rugged cross where heaven’s mercies hail—
There, Love incarnate bled in crimson tide,
And bore my shame where justice crucified.

No boast in wisdom’s towers, sharp and high,
No glory in the strength that dares defy;
The world recedes, its chains fall shattered free,
For in that cross, my Savior died for me.

Oh, scandal of the ages, foolish sign!
The King of Glory on a tree divine—
Through splinters deep and thorns that crown His brow,
Redemption flows, and every knee must bow.

Let poets sing of stars and seas profound,
Let warriors claim the battle’s vict’ry sound;
I have no song but this eternal theme:
The cross alone, my hope, my light, my dream.

For by its power, the dead in sin arise,
The broken mended, blind receive their eyes;
In Christ alone, the veil is torn apart—
Nothing to glory in, but His wounded heart.

So let the ages roll, and tempests rage,
I’ll cling to Calvary through every stage;
Till faith gives way to sight in realms above,
And glory crowns the cross of boundless love.

To Observe the Silent Cry in Any Human Heart and Answer with Unseen Mercies Knotted in Moonless Corners, No Boast, No Trumpet, No Record, Only the Wordless Sentence That Turns Us into the Hidden Hands of Grace by Debbie Harris

To see a need—
a child’s bare foot on frost-bit stone,
a widow’s lamp guttering low—
and meet it,
not with heralds or hammered brass,
but with the hush of bread broken in back rooms,
coins slipped through cracked doors,
bandages knotted in the dark.

No trumpet.
Only the soft click of a latch
behind the giver who vanishes
before the given can name the gift.

This is the grammar of God’s hands:
verbs without subjects,
sentences that end in silence.
The wound closes.
The hunger forgets its own shape.
The world turns,
and no one marks the pivot
except the One who keeps
a ledger of mercies
written in disappearing ink.

Be that ink.
Be that pivot.
Be the quiet clause
in the long sentence of grace.

Without Returning In Repentance Our Blessed Triune God Cannot Bless America by Debbie Harris

We built her tall on borrowed light,
skyscrapers kissing clouds,
yet forgot the cornerstone was Christ,
not steel, not pride, not crowds.

Our fathers knelt in valley forges,
prayed beneath the cannon’s roar;
they signed their names with trembling hands
and sealed them “In God, once more.”

But now the altars gather dust,
the pulpits trade in shame;
we crown the self, we bow to lust,
and dare invoke His name.

The unborn cry from metal trays,
the addict chokes on night;
the widow weeps, the orphan strays—
we call it “personal right.”

Our borders bleed, our children scroll
through fire on glowing screens;
we teach them doubt, we sell their souls
for likes and dopamine dreams.

The courtroom scoffs at ancient law,
the classroom bans the Book;
we mock the God who once we saw
in every mountain brook.

Yet still He waits—
the patient Flame
that lit the pilgrim spark;
the Voice that whispered through the frame
of freedom in the dark.

America cannot survive but God—
not policy, not might;
only on our knees, beneath the rod
of mercy, can we fight.

Repent, return, rebuild the wall
with hands that once were stained;
for every empire doomed to fall
forgot from whence it came.

Let freedom ring, but let it ring
from steeples, not from chains;
let justice roll, let mercy sing—
America, born again.

Summary of “Defenders of the Holy Faith, Clad in Celestial Resolve: A Grand Ode Based on Jude 3”

The poem, inspired by Jude 3, is a call to steadfastly defend the Christian faith as urged in the biblical text. It portrays believers as zealous guardians tasked with protecting the sacred truth of the gospel, which was entrusted to the saints. Despite challenges from falsehoods and skeptics, the poem emphasizes unwavering commitment to upholding the eternal light of Christ’s truth. It concludes with a rallying cry to proclaim and defend the faith with love and strength until Christ’s return, evoking themes of spiritual resilience, devotion, and divine hope.

Inspired by Jude 3

Beloved, rise with fervent zeal,
To guard the faith, the truth we feel.
Jude calls us, steadfast, to contend,
For sacred trust that knows no end.

Once delivered to the saints of old,
A treasure pure, more precious than gold.
With hearts ablaze, we stand our ground,
In Christ’s own truth, forever found.

Though shadows creep with subtle lies,
And doubters scorn beneath the skies,
We’ll hold the Word, unyielding, sure,
Its light eternal shall endure.

Contend, O soul, with love and might,
Proclaim the gospel’s holy light.
For faith entrusted, we’ll defend,
Till Christ returns, our hope, our end.

God’s Perfect Breath: The Eternal Scripture That Saves from Sin and Hell by Debbie Harris

Summary of the Poem: “God’s Perfect Breath: The Eternal Scripture That Saves from Sin and Hell”

The poem, inspired by Romans 15:4, Hebrews 4:12, and Psalm 119:89, 105, 130, 160 (KJV), celebrates the divine power, inerrancy, and perfection of Scripture as God’s living Word. It opens with Romans 15:4’s emphasis on Scripture’s role in providing learning, comfort, and hope, portraying it as a beacon that sustains faith. Psalm 119’s imagery—God’s Word as an eternal, settled truth, a lamp, and a light of understanding—underscores its flawless, guiding nature. Described as God’s very breath, the Scriptures are inerrant, radiant, and eternal, offering a perfect map to salvation. Hebrews 4:12’s depiction of the Word as a two-edged sword highlights its ability to pierce sin, expose Satan’s deceit, and shatter the chains of guilt, protecting souls from hell. The poem traces the biblical narrative from Eden to Calvary, where Christ’s sacrifice offers the ultimate gift of salvation, universally available (“for all to claim”). Through vivid imagery, it presents Scripture as a living, transformative force—a shield against evil, a fire to warm hearts, and a star guiding humanity to eternal life. The poem, spanning 56 lines across eight stanzas, concludes with a call to embrace this flawless Word, which redeems all from sin and Satan’s lies, lifting them to divine hope and light.

Romans 15:4 (KJV):

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Hebrews 4:12 (KJV): For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Psalm 119:89 KJV: For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

Psalm 119:105 KJV: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:130 KJV: The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Psalm 119:160 KJV: Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

Romans 15:4 KJV: “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
Hebrews 4:12 KJV: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Psalm 119:89 KJV: “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.”
Psalm 119:105 KJV: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:130 KJV: “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”
Psalm 119:160 KJV: “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”

In Romans’ light, where hope takes flight,
Fifteen and four, a beacon bright.
The Scriptures, writ for learning’s gain,
Bestow through grace a hope sustained.
Through ancient words, the Spirit sings,
Of comfort born on sacred wings,
A Word divine, so pure, so sure,
Its truth eternal shall endure.

This Word, as Psalms proclaim with awe,
God’s settled truth, His holy law.
Forever fixed in Heaven’s frame,
Its inerrant voice shall never wane.
A lamp to guide through darkest night,
It shines as truth, as Heaven’s light,
From simple hearts to sages wise,
It opens truth to seeking eyes.

God’s breath it is, alive, divine,
Its perfect will through ages shine.
Inerrant, flawless, without stain,
Its every truth shall e’er remain.
No error dims its radiant glow,
No fault can shake the grace it shows.
From Heaven’s throne, it came to earth,
God’s holy Word, of boundless worth.

O living Word, so sharp, so keen,
As Hebrews sings in truth serene.
A two-edged sword, it cuts through lies,
Divides the soul, exposes guise.
It pierces deep where sin takes hold,
Reveals the heart, both young and old.
No secret hides from its pure light,
It shatters gloom with Heaven’s might.

Satan’s deceit, that cunning snare,
Dissolves beneath its holy glare.
The serpent’s lies, so sly, so fell,
Cannot withstand this truth that swells.
From Eden’s fall to hell’s dark gate,
The Word unmasks the devil’s hate.
It guards the soul from sin’s cruel chain,
And breaks the bonds of guilt and pain.

O glorious beauty, rich, profound,
In every verse, God’s voice is found.
Its pages gleam with mercy’s art,
A perfect map to heal the heart.
From Sinai’s stone to Calvary’s cross,
It counts all gain as worldly loss.
The story of a Savior’s blood,
That cleanses sin in love’s great flood.

This Word, unerring, stands supreme,
God’s perfect truth, salvation’s theme.
It speaks of Christ, the Lamb who died,
Who bore our shame, was crucified.
Through Him, the gift of grace is given,
To save from hell, to open Heaven.
No greater love could e’er be known,
Than Christ, who claims us as His own.

In every line, God’s breath resounds,
A living stream on holy grounds.
It quenches thirst, it calms the storm,
Restores the soul, makes whole, transforms.
No power of hell can stand its might,
No darkness dims its radiant light.
It calls the lost, it sets them free,
And writes their names for eternity.

From Genesis to Heaven’s shore,
The Word endures forevermore.
Its perfect truth, a guiding star,
Proclaims God’s love both near and far.
Through trials fierce, it stands unmoved,
Its inerrant voice by God approved.
A shield against the tempter’s art,
A fire to warm the coldest heart.

O saints, arise, this Word embrace,
Its flawless truth redeems the race.
From sin’s dark grip, from Satan’s lie,
It lifts them to the throne on high.
In Romans’ hope, in Hebrews’ might,
They find their strength, their peace, their light.
God’s perfect Word, His breath divine,
Salvation’s gift—for all to claim.

Echoes In the Sanctuary by Debbie Harris

In spires of stained glass, where light bends low,
The Precious Church of Jesus Christ stands tall—
A fortress woven from whispers of the past,
Threads of tradition, embroidered with gold.
Here, the organ hums hymns of harvest moons,
And altars gleam with relics, polished by hands
That trace lineages older than the sea.

But wait—does the Savior linger in the nave,
Or has He slipped behind the velvet drape?
The culture claims the front-row pews, adorned
In robes of ritual, crowns of custom worn
Like halos forged in fires of forgotten kings.
Echoes of emperors and councils convene,
Their voices drowning the Galilean’s plea:
“Follow me,” not the map of marble halls.

Oh, Precious Church, your stones sing of the soul’s
Salvation scripted in scrolls of solemn rite—
Yet where is the wanderer, the outcast’s friend,
The one who dined with sinners, mended the night?
The culture dances in the aisles, a masquerade
Of feasts and fasts, of flags and fervent cries,
While Jesus waits beyond the bolted gate,
His feet still dusty from the desert’s sighs.

Is it the edifice we exalt, or Him within?
The scaffold of saints, or the Carpenter’s grin?
For in the clamor of creeds and choral swell,
The culture reigns, a queen upon the throne—
And Jesus? He is the quiet cornerstone,
Rejected by builders, yet holding heaven’s spell.
Return, O flock, to the Lamb’s unyielding light;
Let culture bow, and Christ reclaim the night.
