The sonnet, titled “Seventy Times Seven: Emulating Christ Our King’s Endless Forgiveness,” reflects Charles Spurgeon’s quote about Christ’s teaching to Peter to forgive “seventy times seven” times (Matthew 18:22), emphasizing boundless mercy. It explores the idea that just as God forgives us endlessly, we must also forgive others without limit, mirroring Christ’s example as our King. The poem uses a Shakespearean sonnet structure, with three quatrains and a final couplet, culminating in a call to forgive with royal authority: “Like Christ our King, let mercy’s scepter swing.” The title and content together highlight the challenge to emulate Christ’s infinite forgiveness in a majestic, reverent tone.

When Christ to Peter spoke of mercy’s span,
“Till seventy times seven” was His decree,
A boundless grace to mend the heart of man,
For love must flow as vast as heaven’s sea.
We falter oft, yet find not love’s defeat,
Though sins may pile like shadows in the night,
Each pardon blooms where bitterness retreat,
A second chance beneath God’s holy light.
For God Himself forgives beyond our count,
His mercy endless as the stars above,
So we, too, must in kindness e’er surmount,
And mirror Heaven’s unrelenting love.
Let each new dawn a fresh forgiveness bring,
Like Christ our King, let mercy’s scepter swing.

The sonnet, titled “Lord, God, and Savior King to All the World,” is a 14-line poem in traditional sonnet form, praising the divine sovereignty, love, and redemptive power of God and Christ. It describes God as the supreme ruler over all creation, whose light dispels darkness and whose voice shaped the universe. The poem highlights Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, which defeated death and redeemed humanity, and the Holy Spirit’s role in guiding the faithful. It concludes with all nations worshiping the eternal King, whose love endures forever.

O Lord, our God, and Savior King supreme,
Thy throne above the heavens’ boundless span,
All worlds, all hearts, within Thy holy plan,
Thy light doth pierce the dark with radiant beam.

From chaos’ void, Thy voice did form the earth,
Each star, each soul, Thy breath of love did mold,
In mercy vast, Thy promises unfold,
To grant the meek a hope of sacred worth.

Thy cross, O Christ, hath conquered death’s cold sting,
Thy blood redeemed what sin had torn apart,
Thy Spirit dwells to guide the contrite heart,
And bids the weary soul to rise and sing.

All nations bow before Thy boundless reign,
Eternal King, whose love shall e’er remain.

The sonnet, inspired by John 12:13, celebrates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem with a majestic, royal tone. It portrays Him as a glorious King, humbly riding a donkey, greeted by fervent crowds waving palms and shouting “Hosanna!” The poem exalts His divine sovereignty and love, emphasizing a kingdom of grace and truth, not earthly power, with enduring majesty and mercy.

O King of glory, hailed with palm-strewn way,
Thy sovereign splendor rides on humble beast.
The throng, with fervor, casts their cloaks to pray,
Their voices soar, a royal anthem’s feast.
“Hosanna!” rings through Zion’s sacred gate,
“Blest is the Son of David’s holy line!”
In majesty, Thou com’st to meet Thy fate,
Yet love, not conquest, crowns Thy will divine.
The branches wave, like scepters of the meek,
Proclaiming Thee the Lord of heav’n’s domain.
Thy throne, O Christ, no earthly pomp shall seek,
But reigns where hearts in truth and grace remain.
Exalted Prince, Thy kingdom shall endure,
Its glory vast, its mercy ever sure.

The hymn “Hosanna, King Divine” is a six-verse Palm Sunday hymn with a refrain, celebrating Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. It captures the crowd’s praise, the fulfillment of prophecy, and the anticipation of the Passion, ending with devotion to Christ’s enduring reign. Each verse, followed by a repetitive “Hosanna” refrain, emphasizes joy, humility, and faith, suitable for congregational singing.

Verse 1
The streets of Zion ring with praise,
As palm branches the people raise.
The King on humble donkey rides,
Hosanna to the One who guides!

Refrain
Hosanna, hosanna, our Savior we acclaim!
With shouts of joy we bless His name!
Hosanna, hosanna, forever He shall reign!
All glory to our King, amen!

Verse 2
The cloaks are spread upon the way,
The children sing in bright array.
“Blessed is He who comes!” they cry,
The Lord of lords is drawing nigh.

Refrain
Hosanna, hosanna, our Savior we acclaim!
With shouts of joy we bless His name!
Hosanna, hosanna, forever He shall reign!
All glory to our King, amen!

Verse 3
O Son of David, promised One,
Your kingdom comes, Your will be done.
Through gates of grace You lead us still,
Your mercy reigns on Zion’s hill.

Refrain
Hosanna, hosanna, our Savior we acclaim!
With shouts of joy we bless His name!
Hosanna, hosanna, forever He shall reign!
All glory to our King, amen!

Verse 4
Yet soon the cross will pierce this day,
The crowd’s acclaim will fade away.
Still we will follow, Lord, to You,
Our King, our Hope, forever true.

Refrain
Hosanna, hosanna, our Savior we acclaim!
With shouts of joy we bless His name!
Hosanna, hosanna, forever He shall reign!
All glory to our King, amen!

Verse 5
The prophets’ words in truth unfold,
Messiah comes, as long foretold.
With joy we greet the Holy One,
God’s kingdom dawns, His reign begun.

Refrain
Hosanna, hosanna, our Savior we acclaim!
With shouts of joy we bless His name!
Hosanna, hosanna, forever He shall reign!
All glory to our King, amen!

Verse 6
O Lord of peace, Your love endures,
Your mercy heals, Your grace assures.
We lift our hearts in faithful song,
To You, our King, we all belong.

Refrain
Hosanna, hosanna, our Savior we acclaim!
With shouts of joy we bless His name!
Hosanna, hosanna, forever He shall reign!
All glory to our King, amen!

The sonnet, titled “A Song of Thanks for Daily Gifts Divine”, expresses heartfelt gratitude for God’s daily provisions. It begins with the dawn’s light awakening the earth, inspiring the speaker to reflect on divine grace, encapsulated in the phrase “taste and see the Lord is good.” Imagery of warm bread, rich with the flavors of God’s love, symbolizes sustenance, while clear streams, shelter, and breath represent His constant care. Each provision—food, water, shelter, air—reflects God’s steadfast goodness. The poem culminates in a joyful hymn, with the speaker’s spirit lifted in ceaseless thankfulness for the boundless love that meets every need.

Each dawn unveils the sun’s renewing flame,
Its golden rays awaken earth’s embrace,
My heart in humble gratitude lays claim—
To taste and see the Lord is good, His grace.
The bread upon my table, warm and sweet,
Each golden grain a token of His hand,
Bears flavors rich where love and mercy meet,
A banquet from the soil of His command.
Clear streams that quench, the roof above my head,
The breath of air that fills my lungs with song,
All woven by His care, in kindness spread,
Proclaim His goodness steadfast, deep, and strong.
For every gift Thy boundless love provides,
My spirit lifts its joyful hymn to Thee.

The sonnet With Courage Bold We Stand for God Against the World’s Command is a 14-line Shakespearean sonnet in iambic pentameter (rhyme scheme ABAB CDCD EFEF GG), rooted in Acts 5:29. It champions obedience to God’s word in the Bible over human authority when the two conflict, portraying Christ as the supreme King whose eternal truth surpasses earthly decrees. With imagery of divine light, steadfast truth, and a holy crown, it urges believers to stand courageously against oppressive human laws that defy Scripture, sustained by God’s grace.

When mortal men command what God denies,
Our hearts must hold to Heaven’s holy call.
No earthly throne can claim the soul’s true prize,
For Christ alone shall reign as Lord of all.

Though rulers bind with chains of fleeting might,
Their decrees fade before eternal truth.
God’s word endures, a beacon burning bright,
To guide the faithful from their tender youth.

Let courage rise where human laws oppress,
And boldly stand for Him who reigns above.
His grace sustains when trials sore distress,
And crowns the heart with everlasting love.

So let us choose, though men may scorn or frown,
To serve our God and claim His holy crown.

The hymn All Praise to Christ Our King is a majestic, six-verse worship song in Common Meter (8.6.8.6), designed for congregational singing. It exalts Christ’s eternal reign, God’s glory, and boundless grace, with vivid imagery of creation, redemption, and divine truth. Each verse pairs with a triumphant refrain—“All praise to Christ, our Lord, we raise, His name shall reign through endless days! With heart and voice, we join to say, All glory be to God always!”—emphasizing joyful, unending praise. Ideal for services celebrating Christ’s kingship, it suits organ, piano, or orchestral accompaniment, with a tone inspired by classic hymns like “O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing.”

Verse 1
Arise, my soul, and sing aloud,
To God, the everlasting King.
His glory shines through every cloud,
His mercy makes the heavens ring.

Refrain
All praise to Christ, our Lord, we raise,
His name shall reign through endless days!
With heart and voice, we join to say,
All glory be to God always!

Verse 2
The stars proclaim His mighty hand,
The earth reflects His boundless grace.
His love extends to every land,
And calls the weary to His face.

Refrain
All praise to Christ, our Lord, we raise,
His name shall reign through endless days!
With heart and voice, we join to say,
All glory be to God always!

Verse 3
No power can stand before His throne,
No fear can dim His holy light.
He reigns as King, and He alone,
Shall lead us through the darkest night.

Refrain
All praise to Christ, our Lord, we raise,
His name shall reign through endless days!
With heart and voice, we join to say,
All glory be to God always!

Verse 4
O come, with saints and angels blend,
Your songs to Him who reigns above.
His kingdom knows no final end,
Forever crowned with truth and love.

Refrain
All praise to Christ, our Lord, we raise,
His name shall reign through endless days!
With heart and voice, we join to say,
All glory be to God always!

Verse 5
His word shall stand through storm and strife,
A beacon bright to guide our way.
In Him we find abundant life,
His truth shall never fade away.

Refrain
All praise to Christ, our Lord, we raise,
His name shall reign through endless days!
With heart and voice, we join to say,
All glory be to God always!

Verse 6
From age to age His wonders flow,
His mercy calls the lost to sing.
In Christ alone our hearts shall know,
The joy that only God can bring.

Refrain
All praise to Christ, our Lord, we raise,
His name shall reign through endless days!
With heart and voice, we join to say,
All glory be to God always!

Sonnet: When Christ’s Light Shifts the Soul’s Eternal View by Debbie Harris

The sonnet explores the transformation of perspective through Christ and scripture, where newfound faith leads others to falsely accuse the speaker of deceit. Despite being labeled a liar, the follower of Jesus Christ is urged to remain steadfast, mirroring Christ’s own perseverance through mockery. The final stanza emphasizes resilience, love over anger, and trust in Christ’s truth to vindicate the speaker’s change as genuine. The rhyme scheme of the last stanza is ABBA, fitting the Petrarchan sonnet structure.

When Christ’s pure light does pierce the shadowed mind,
And scriptures’ truth remolds the heart’s deep core,
The world, once blind, now scorns what it abhorred—
Your change they brand as falsehood, cruelly unkind.

They see not how the Spirit’s flame refines,
How grace rewrites the soul’s unyielding scroll.
Your words, though true, they deem a traitor’s role,
For faith’s new lens reveals what doubt confines.

Yet stand you firm, though labeled as a lie,
For Christ’s own path was mocked by those astray.
His cross, His word, your anchor shall abide.

Let love, not wrath, your steadfast heart reply—
Through slander’s storm, His truth will light your way,
And prove your change no falsehood, but His bride.

All Beauty Finds Its Source in Jesus Christ Our Lord, the Eternal Fountain of Grace by Debbie Harris

The sonnet, titled “All Beauty Finds Its Source in Jesus Christ Our Lord, the Eternal Fountain of Grace”, reflects the spiritual longing in C.S. Lewis’s quote, “The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing — to find the place where all the beauty came from,” from Till We Have Faces. It portrays a soul’s journey, symbolized by a boat drifting through a tranquil, twilight landscape toward a distant castle, with still waters, moonlit glow, and mirrored light evoking a mystical quest. The poem captures an irresistible call to discover the origin of beauty, identifying Jesus Christ as its true source and the eternal fountain of grace. The soul’s pursuit fulfills the longing Lewis describes, revealing that all beauty flows from Christ, whose divine presence satisfies the heart’s deepest desire, resonating with the reflective tone of the original image.

Through twilight’s hush, where still waters glide,
A whisper echoes, soft yet fierce with flame,
A call none can ignore, though shadows hide,
It draws the soul to Christ, where beauty came.

A heart, a boat on longing’s endless sea,
Drifts past the trees, beneath a moonlit glow,
Each ripple sings of sacred mystery,
A pull to find the Savior’s light bestowed.

The castle looms, a silhouette of grace,
Its mirrored light on waves that gently gleam—
The quest pursues the truth, love’s pure embrace,
To wake in Jesus, Author of this dream.

In such a search, the soul shall find its shore,
Where Christ’s own beauty none can e’er ignore.

The Den Of Trust: A Narrative Poem Of Daniel’s Faith by Debbie Harris

“The Den of Trust: A Song of Daniel’s Faith” is a free verse narrative poem retelling Daniel 6, where Daniel, steadfast in prayer to God in Babylon, defies a royal decree. Betrayed by envious foes, he’s cast into a lions’ den, yet his trust shines unshaken. God’s light, reflected through Christ, silences the lions, delivering Daniel unharmed by dawn, to King Darius’ awe. The poem speaks to every soul facing fear, proclaiming that from Babylon to now, Jesus, the Truth, holds fast as refuge for all, His steadfast love guiding through trials, echoing Psalm 121:2’s assurance of divine help.

In Babylon’s shadow, where power carved its throne,
Daniel knelt, his heart a quiet flame,
Whispering prayers to the God of heaven’s dome.
Three times each day, his window framed the sky,
Not to kings, nor gold, nor fleeting decrees,
But to the One who holds the stars in place.

The court buzzed with envy, sharp as desert thorns—
Men with eyes like vipers, weaving nets of lies.
They watched him pray, their whispers coiled to strike:
“Sign here, O King Darius, a law unbreakable,
Let no man seek a god save you alone,
Or face the jaws where lions tear the bone.”

Darius, swayed by flattery’s soft chains,
Sealed the edict, unaware of its aim.
Yet Daniel’s knees still bent, his lips still moved,
His faith a river, steady through the flood.
No fear of stone, no dread of sharpened teeth—
His trust was fixed where mortal laws don’t reach.

They dragged him to the king, their triumph cold.
“Daniel defies your word, O mighty lord!”
Darius’ heart grew heavy, torn by grief,
But law was law—his hands could not undo.
The sun sank low, and soldiers led the way,
To where the den’s dark mouth in silence lay.

They rolled the stone; it sealed him in with night.
Below, the lions stirred, their hunger raw,
Eyes glinting gold, their breath a rumbling storm.
Yet Daniel stood, his face serene as dawn,
And raised his gaze to Christ’s eternal light,
Where angels wing through heaven’s boundless height.

No roar disturbed the stillness of that hour.
No claw drew blood, no fang pierced faithful flesh.
The Lord had sent His messenger unseen,
To bind the jaws that death had opened wide.
Each lion lay as if in gentle sleep,
Their hunger stilled by heaven’s quiet keep.

Through endless night, Daniel abode in peace,
His heart a psalm, his breath a steady song:
“God’s light is near, though stone entombs my frame;
My trust in Him shall never know a shame.”
Above, the king tossed sleepless, bound by dread,
Counting stars till morning’s hope was spread.

At dawn, Darius ran, his voice a cry:
“O Daniel, servant of the living God,
Has He delivered you where lions trod?”
The stone was rolled, and there—unharmed, alive—
Daniel arose, his eyes like steadfast flame,
Proclaiming God whose power knows no chain.

The king rejoiced, his heart set free from fear,
And called for Daniel’s foes to face their end.
But greater still, a decree went forth anew:
“Let all the earth revere the God most true,
Who saves His own through trials fierce and deep,
And turns the roar of death to silent sleep.”

For every soul that faces fear’s dark den,
When mortal strength is frail and shadows fall,
From Babylon to now, the Truth holds fast:
Jesus, our Christ, is refuge for us all.
No storm can break the peace His mercy casts,
His steadfast love shall guide through every call.
