The poem, Royal Heirs of the King: Christ’s Presence in Our Hearts, a Sacred Blessing and Eternal Gift, celebrates believers as royal heirs of God’s kingdom, emphasizing the free gift of eternal life through Christ’s sacrifice. It portrays God’s grace as a divine currency, surpassing earthly riches, and underscores the sacred blessing and privilege of Christ’s presence dwelling in our hearts. Using royal imagery—crowns, scepters, and kingdoms—it conveys the exalted status of believers, secured by Christ’s redemptive love. The poem highlights that this presence and eternal life are unearned gifts, igniting the soul with divine light and guiding believers to seek Christ’s face as their ultimate joy and reward. The accompanying Scriptures (e.g., 1 Peter 2:9, Romans 6:23, Psalm 16:11) reinforce themes of royal priesthood, grace, and the joy of God’s presence.

On Being Royal Heirs
1 Peter 2:9 (ESV):
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

Romans 8:16-17 (ESV):
“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.”

On the Free Gift of Eternal Life
Romans 6:23 (ESV):
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV):
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

On God’s Presence as Our Delight and Reward
Psalm 16:11 (ESV):
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Colossians 3:23-24 (ESV):
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

On the Currency of Grace
Titus 3:5-7 (ESV):
“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

Heirs of the Eternal Crown

Beneath the heavens’ boundless dome,
We walk as heirs of glory’s home.
No earthly gold could e’er compare,
To grace divine, our royal share.

A King of kings has called us near,
His boundless love dispels all fear.
Through crimson gift, His life outpoured,
We’re crowned as heirs, forever restored.

No scepter forged by mortal hand,
Can match the light of His command.
Eternal life, our treasure true,
A currency no thief breaks through.

In earthly toil, our hearts take flight,
Delighting in His holy light.
As royal heirs, we seek His face,
Our joy, our wealth, His boundless grace.

With every step, His presence reigns,
A kingdom vast within our veins.
O gift of God, our souls ignite,
His freely given life, our light.

Beneath the heavens’ boundless dome,
We walk as heirs of glory’s home.
No earthly gold could e’er compare,
To grace divine, our royal share.

A King of kings has called us near,
His boundless love dispels all fear.
Through crimson gift, His life outpoured,
We’re crowned as heirs, forever restored.

No scepter forged by mortal hand,
Can match the light of His command.
Eternal life, our treasure true,
A currency no thief breaks through.

In earthly toil, our hearts take flight,
Delighting in His holy light.
As royal heirs, we seek His face,
Our joy, our wealth, His boundless grace.

With every step, His presence reigns,
A kingdom vast within our veins.
O gift of God, our souls ignite,
His freely given life, our light.

The poem celebrates Christ as the triumphant Sovereign leading His redeemed in a glorious procession, as depicted in 2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV): “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.” It portrays believers, once captives of sin, now robed in divine splendor, marching under Christ’s royal banner to spread the fragrant gospel of His knowledge across the earth. Rich with regal imagery, it exalts God’s victorious grace, which overcomes death and crowns His people as heirs of His eternal kingdom. The tone radiates profound gratitude and awe, culminating in joyous, unending praise for the King’s redemptive and triumphant reign.

Beneath a canopy of celestial gold,
Where heaven’s anthems in resplendence roll,
Christ leads His triumph, robed in victor’s might,
A King eternal, bathed in holy light.
We, once in chains, now march in royal train,
His captives freed, yet bound by love’s sweet reign.

Thanks be to God, whose throne outshines the stars,
Whose sovereign grace has shattered prison bars.
His scepter sways o’er death’s defeated sting,
And bids our hearts with grateful fervor sing.
Through us, His knowledge spreads, a fragrant breeze,
A regal incense wafting o’er the seas.

In courts of glory, we, His heirs, abide,
Adorned in splendor at our Monarch’s side.
No foe can stand before His radiant face,
His triumph crowns us with unyielding grace.
O Victor-King, our voices soar to Thee,
In endless praise, Thy throne our jubilee!

“ Power’s Many Faces” is a vivid, image-rich poem that contrasts four types of power through distinct, sensory-loaded stanzas, each with an AABB rhyme scheme and 8-10 syllables per line. Here’s a summary of its content and imagery:

  1. Redeemed Servant-Led Power (Stanza 1): Depicts a humble, nurturing power as a “lantern sways in dawn’s soft veil,” weaving through souls like a “breeze so frail.” It heals the broken with gentle hands, culminating in a “glowing bloom, a starlight token,” symbolizing hope and kindness.
  2. Unredeemed Greedy Power (Stanza 2): Portrays a destructive, selfish power with a “vulture’s glare in moonless dark,” tearing at wealth with a “ravenous spark.” It traps the weary in “rusted chains,” leaving a “hollow crown” that no soul inherits, evoking desolation.
  3. Ego-Driven Power (Stanza 3): Illustrates vain, fleeting power as a “peacock prances on a throne of glass,” reflected in “mirrored walls” with a “fleeting flash.” It burns brightly but collapses into “ashes,” its “fleeting reign” forgotten, highlighting impermanence.
  4. Listening to Lies Power (Stanza 4): Describes deceptive power as a “serpent coils in brambles thick with deceit,” whispering through mist where “truths retreat.” Its “crooked trail” with “thorns that sever” leads to a starless “night,” symbolizing betrayal and loss.
  5. Closing Couplet: Summarizes the contrast: “Each power shines, distinct in shade, / One lifts the soul, three cut like blades,” emphasizing the uplifting nature of servant-led power against the destructive force of the others.

Redeemed servant led power,
A lantern sways in dawn’s soft veil,
It weaves through souls, a breeze so frail,
In gentle hands, it heals the broken,
Its glowing bloom, a starlight token.

Unredeemed greedy power,
A vulture’s glare in moonless dark,
It tears at wealth, a ravenous spark,
In rusted chains, it binds the spirit,
Its hollow crown, no soul shall inherit.

Ego-driven power,
A peacock prances on a throne of glass,
Its mirrored walls reflect a fleeting flash,
A blaze that roars, then falls to ashes,
Its fleeting reign, through time it crashes.

Listening to lies power,
A serpent coils in brambles thick with deceit,
It whispers through mist, where truths retreat,
Its crooked trail, with thorns that sever,
Leads hearts to night, where stars shine never.

Each power shines, distinct in shade,
One lifts the soul, three cut like blades.

Summary of “The Triumphant Triune God, Eternal Hero of Our Redemption’s Story”

The poem celebrates the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—as the eternal hero of a divine narrative. It begins with God’s creation, weaving light and life from nothingness. Despite humanity’s fall into sin, the Son’s incarnation and sacrifice on the cross bring redemption, while the Spirit restores and ignites the soul. The Triune God triumphs over darkness and despair, wielding truth and love as weapons. The poem portrays God as an ever-present, victorious hero, reigning from creation to eternity, with vivid imagery of mercy, glory, and salvation. It conveys gratitude for God’s unending grace and sovereignty, affirming His role as the ultimate champion of the human story.

In the tapestry of time, where stars weave their gleam,
The Triune God emerges, in glory’s expanse.
Father, Son, Spirit—eternal Three in One,
The hero of the story, whose will is never done.

From the void’s deep silence, His voice spun the light,
Galaxies unfurled in the womb of the night.
A scepter of mercy, a crown of flame,
The Father’s decree burns, unyielding, the same.

Through the dust of Eden, His breath gave us form,
Yet we fell to shadows, to sin’s bitter storm.
But the Son, the Word, donned flesh as His cloak,
Walked the earth’s sharp thorns where redemption awoke.

On a cross of splinters, His blood painted grace,
Each drop a new stanza, redeeming the race.
The Spirit, like fire, weaves life through the soul,
A wind that ignites, making broken hearts whole.

In the heart’s quiet meadow, where fears darkly creep,
The Triune God battles, His promises keep.
With a sword of truth, He carves paths through despair,
His love is the anthem that shatters the air.

No dragon too fierce, no abyss too wide,
For the Hero of heroes, with us to abide.
From the dawn of creation to eternity’s shore,
The Triune God reigns, our King evermore.

Rich in imagery, His story unfolds,
In colors of mercy, in glories untold.
Always the victor, always the way,
The Triune God, hero, forever our stay.

The sonnet Triumphant Praise, inspired by Psalm 71:8, celebrates unwavering devotion and exultation of divine glory. It portrays the speaker’s ceaseless praise through vivid imagery: lips as a fountain, morning rays, starry crowns, blazing glory, thundering mountains, roaring oceans, and a radiant throne. The poem conveys a victorious spirit, depicting God’s splendor, strength, and mercy as eternal and unshakable. Each stanza emphasizes continuous worship, with the speaker’s heart and tongue proclaiming divine majesty all day, culminating in reverence for a glorious, loving King.

“My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.” (Psalm 71:8, NIV)

My lips, a fountain, pour thy boundless praise,
Thy splendor gleams where morning’s rays ignite,
A crown of stars adorns thy holy ways,
Thy glory blazes through the veil of night.

From mountain peaks to valleys deep and wide,
Thy name resounds in thunder’s mighty call,
The oceans roar, their waves thy strength abide,
Thy mercy lifts the weary from their fall.

Each dawn I sing, my heart a victor’s flame,
No shadow dims the radiance of thy throne,
The heavens shout, exalting thy great name,
Thy love, a fortress, carved in living stone.

All day my tongue thy majesty shall trace,
O King of glory, robed in endless grace.

Golgotha’s Truth: The Centurion Proclaims the Son of God by Debbie Harris

Summary of the Poem “Golgotha’s Truth: The Centurion Proclaims the Son of God”

The poem narrates the transformative experience of a Roman centurion at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Golgotha. Amidst a darkened, storm-laden sky, the centurion, a hardened soldier loyal to Rome, witnesses Jesus’ death. Unlike other executions, Jesus’ calm demeanor, lack of curses, and serene authority unsettle him. As the earth quakes, the sky blackens, and the temple veil tears, the centurion’s stoic heart shifts. Moved by divine truth, he declares, “This truly is the Son of God,” recognizing Jesus’ divinity. The poem captures his shift from duty-bound soldier to a man touched by faith, leaving Golgotha with a changed soul.

Biblical Reference and Verses
The poem draws from the crucifixion accounts in the Gospels, specifically the centurion’s declaration. Key verses include:

  • Matthew 27:54 (ESV): “When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, ‘Truly this was the Son of God!’”
  • Mark 15:39 (ESV): “And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, ‘Truly this man was the Son of God!’”
  • Luke 23:47 (ESV): “Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, saying, ‘Certainly this man was innocent!’”
These verses anchor the centurion’s epiphany, with slight variations across the Gospels, emphasizing his awe and recognition of Jesus’ divine identity.

Beneath a sky where storm clouds choked the light,
Golgotha groaned with sorrow’s heavy weight.
The centurion, his heart a stone of might,
Stood firm where death and destiny held state.
The cross arose, its shadow carved in gloom,
A man hung there, his silence vast, profound.
No curse escaped, no plea to flee his doom,
Yet peace he bore where pain should scream unbound.

He’d seen men fall, their lives like ash blown free,
Yet this one’s gaze held royalty serene.
The earth did quake, the spear fulfilled its decree,
And darkness cloaked the world in mournful sheen.
His blade, still warm from war’s unyielding call,
Felt cold as truth awoke within his thrall.
No rebel’s cry, no guilt within his frame,
This man was more than mortals could proclaim.

The heavens split, the temple’s veil was rent,
A soldier’s soul by wonder was unshackled.
Through blood and dust, his hardened spirit bent,
As light divine through death’s grim shadow tackled.
“This truly is the Son of God,” he cried,
His voice a spark where faith and fate collide.
No altar taught, no priest could show the way,
Yet truth burned fierce beneath that shattered day.

His men grew still, their jests and jeers now done,
The cross’s weight had silenced every tongue.
A Roman sworn to Caesar’s iron creed,
Now knelt to one whose love fulfilled all need.
The hill stood hushed, the Savior’s breath was gone,
Yet grace like fire through time would carry on.
The centurion left, his soul no longer blind,
God’s Son etched deep within his heart and mind.

The Drift of Progressive Christianity: Forsaking Biblical Truth for the Altar of Cultural Relevance by Debbie Harris

The poem, titled “The Drift of Progressive Christianity: Forsaking Biblical Truth for the Altar of Cultural Relevance”, critiques liberal progressive Christianity’s shift from biblical authority to cultural conformity. Structured in five stanzas with a consistent ABAB rhyme scheme, it uses nautical and spiritual imagery to depict a church straying from Scripture’s anchor to chase fleeting cultural approval. The poem highlights the softening of the cross’s message, the dilution of biblical truth, and the sorrow of Christ (“Our Savior weeps”) as the church prioritizes relevance over divine authority. Despite this, a faithful remnant holds fast to unchanging truth. The poem laments the compromise of faith while affirming the enduring power of God’s Word.

A ship once sailed where truth’s deep waters lay,
Its course held firm by Scripture’s guiding hand.
But culture’s winds enticed it far astray,
To chase the fleeting praise of shifting sand.

The Word, a rock, once anchored heart and mind,
Now bends beneath the world’s unyielding call.
Its truths, once sharp, are softened and redefined,
To fit the mold where relevance holds thrall.

The cross, a sign of scandal and of grace,
Is polished smooth to soothe the modern eye.
Its blood and wrath fade from their rightful place,
As compromise obscures the Savior’s cry.

Our Savior weeps, His voice now faintly heard,
His sacred Word by culture’s tide defaced.
The church, unmoored, clings not to holy Word,
But bows to trends that time will soon erase.

Yet still a remnant holds the ancient creed,
Their anchor fixed where truth will never wane.
Through storms of relevance, they shall not cede,
For God’s own Word forever will remain.

Blossoms of Hope in Righteous Fields: Surpassing Fleeting Treasures with Eternal Brightness by Debbie Harris

The sonnet vividly illustrates the biblical principle from Proverbs 16:8—”Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice” (ASV)—through rich natural and spiritual imagery. It portrays a humble, faithful life under whispering leaves and emerald grasses, where hope blooms like roses and Christ’s warm glow outshines worldly riches like ivory spires or gem-filled rivers. Amid storms and crumbling fortunes, the righteous heart endures like a rooted oak nourished by living waters, affirming that a modest existence in purity and light surpasses shadowed hoards in endless night.

Beneath a canopy of whispering leaves,
Where emerald grasses cradle dawn’s first light,
A humble soul in righteousness believes,
And hope, like blooming roses, claims the night.
No towering spires of ivory and gold,
Nor rivers rich with gems that coldly gleam,
Can rival Christ’s warm glow, a fire untold,
That dances through the veins like sunlit stream.
Though tempests lash with fury, dark and wild,
And fortunes crumble into ashen heaps,
The faithful heart, like oak in storm beguiled,
Stands rooted deep, where living waters seep.
For better is a little, pure and bright,
Than shadowed hoards eclipsed in endless night.

A Sonnet on the Divine Love and Atoning Sacrifice of God’s Son (1 John 4:10) by Debbie Harris

The sonnet, titled “A Sonnet on the Divine Love and Atoning Sacrifice of God’s Son (1 John 4:10)”, reflects the core message of 1 John 4:10: God’s unmerited love for humanity, demonstrated through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It emphasizes that love originates not from human efforts but from God, who sent His Son to bear the burden of sin, break the chains of death, and offer redemption. The poem celebrates this divine, transformative love that lifts the fallen, washes away guilt, and invites humanity to abide in Christ’s eternal grace.

1 John 4:10, which reads (in the NIV):
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

In boundless grace, where mortal hearts fall short,
God’s love descends, a radiant, holy flame.
Not ours the spark, nor ours the will to court,
But His the gift, unearned, that bears His name.
He sent His Son, the Lamb of sacrifice,
To bear the weight of sin’s unyielding chain,
To break the bonds of death, to pay the price,
That we, redeemed, might rise and live again.
Oh, love divine, unmerited, profound,
That stoops to lift the fallen to His side!
In Christ, the Father’s mercy is unbound,
His blood the tide where guilt and shame subside.
This love, eternal, calls us to abide,
In Him whose heart for us was crucified.

The poem, The Adventure of Prayer, portrays a spiritual journey of relying solely on prayer to God for all needs. It emphasizes trusting in God’s abundant provision, turning away from worldly sources to seek His sustaining guidance and boundless love. Through challenges and doubts, faith in God’s unwavering supply brings clarity and purpose, framing prayer as a grand adventure rooted in complete dependence on His divine provision.

In the stillness of their soul’s deep plea,
They lift their needs to God alone, to Thee.
No other ear, no mortal hand they seek,
Only God’s voice, God’s strength, God’s peak.

Through shadowed vales where doubts reside,
They tread with faith, with God their guide.
Each whispered want, each silent cry,
God hears, God holds, God amplifies.

No idol forged, no fleeting trust they chase,
God’s boundless love, their heart’s true place.
In prayer, they find the path unfold,
An adventure grand, with God, their hold.
