The sonnet, inspired by Habakkuk 2:14, envisions a future where the earth is filled with the knowledge and glory of God, likened to waters covering the seas. It portrays a world illuminated by divine truth, with no darkness or evil untouched by God’s light. Despite present injustices, the poem expresses faith in God’s promise of a coming day when righteousness will prevail, urging patience and hope for this radiant, divine fulfillment.

The earth shall brim with knowledge of the Lord,
As waters swell to cover boundless seas.
His glory, radiant, shall be all-ador’d,
Its light to shine through hearts with gentle ease.

No corner dark, no shadow left to hide,
For truth divine will flood the world’s expanse.
From mountain high to valley deep and wide,
His holy name shall lead the sacred dance.

Though evil reigns and justice seems to sleep,
The promise holds, unyielding, ever sure.
The Lord’s great day approaches, swift and deep,
When righteousness shall reign, serene, and pure.

O patient soul, await the coming morn,
When God’s bright glory shall the earth adorn.

The sonnet, inspired by 2 Corinthians 4:18, celebrates the triumph of focusing on eternal, unseen realities over temporary, visible things. It contrasts the fleeting nature of earthly struggles with the enduring glory of faith in the divine. With a triumphant tone, it emphasizes that trials fade in light of hope and God’s eternal promise, urging steadfast faith in Christ for everlasting joy.

We fix our gaze beyond this fleeting veil,
Where mortal eyes grow dim with passing strife.
The seen, though grand, shall crumble, fade, and fail,
Its transient pomp no match for endless life.
Yet unseen realms, eternal, pure, and bright,
Defy the chains of time’s unyielding sway.
In faith we soar, our hearts alight with might,
To grasp the glory that shall never fray.
What trials come, what shadows cloud our way,
They shrink before the hope that burns within.
For God’s own light, unyielding, shall array
Our souls in triumph over death and sin.
So let us stand, exultant, bold, and free,
Our eyes on Christ, our joy eternally.

In Every Creation, A Hallelujah is a poetic hymn praising Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, by celebrating His divine glory in 29 elements of creation. Each stanza begins with “In every” followed by a natural or cosmic element—flowers, sunsets, sunrises, grass, skies, animals, stars, moons, planets, trees, gemstones, snowflakes, mountains, hills, forests, oceans, rivers, streams, soil, rain, clouds, breezes, heartbeats, souls, deserts, valleys, lightning, seasons, and coral reefs—described vividly (e.g., “In every desert, blooming through the sand,” “In every lightning, flashing His command”). These elements collectively sing a “hallelujah, pure and grand” to Christ, whose love is eternal. The poem closes with a triumphant affirmation of His unchanging sovereignty: “In every age, His crown shall never wane.”

In every flower, petals soft and bright,
In every sunset, painting skies with light,
In every sunrise, breaking night’s embrace,
In every blade of grass, kissed by morning’s grace,
In every azure sky, vast and boundless blue,
In every animal, wild and free and true,
In every star, a beacon in the night,
In every moon, aglow with silver light,
In every planet, spinning tales untold,
In every tree, with branches strong and bold,
In every gemstone, gleaming deep within,
In every snowflake, dancing on the wind,
In every mountain, reaching for the skies,
In every hill, where quiet beauty lies,
In every forest, whispering ancient lore,
In every ocean, roaring at the shore,
In every river, carving paths of peace,
In every stream, where sparkling waters leap,
In every soil, nurturing life’s refrain,
In every drop of rain, a tear of sacred gain,
In every cloud, adrift in heaven’s dome,
In every breeze, where love’s sweet breath calls home,
In every heartbeat, pulsing with His call,
In every soul, redeemed from Adam’s fall,
In every desert, blooming through the sand,
In every valley, sheltered by His hand,
In every lightning, flashing His command,
In every season, turning by His plan,
In every coral, glowing in the deep,

Is found a hallelujah, pure and grand,
To Jesus Christ, whose love shall ever stand—
King of Kings, and Lord of Lords supreme,
In every age, His crown shall never wane.

This Shakespearean sonnet, inspired by Psalm 16:7-9 (KJV), expresses heartfelt praise for God’s guidance, steadfast presence, and the joy and hope they bring. The speaker blesses the Lord for His wise counsel, which illuminates their path and guides them, especially in quiet moments of reflection. By keeping God ever in focus, the speaker finds unshakable strength and confidence, unaffected by fear. This faith results in a joyful heart, a spirit lifted in praise, and a body resting securely in God’s grace. The sonnet concludes by affirming God as a constant source of joy and peace, leading the speaker to eternal tranquility. Written in iambic pentameter with an ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme, the poem uses serene imagery (e.g., “lights my way,” “quiet night,” “boundless grace”) to convey a universal, uplifting message without assuming life’s struggles, making it accessible and hopeful for all readers.

I bless the Lord, whose counsel lights my way,
His wisdom whispers truth to heart and mind;
In quiet night, His words my soul array,
And guide me gently where His will I find.

The Lord I set forever in my sight,
My constant strength, my ever-present guide;
With Him beside me, steadfast in His might,
No fear can shake the hope where I abide.

My heart is glad, my spirit lifts in song,
My tongue rejoices in His boundless grace;
In Him my flesh shall rest, secure and strong,
For love divine illumes my dwelling place.

O Lord, my joy, my refuge ever near,
Thy counsel leads to peace through every year.

Summary

The sonnet “A Soul Alight with Rapture’s Promised Hope” depicts a Christ-centered believer vigilantly preparing for the Rapture. The believer’s unwavering faith and spiritual readiness are vividly portrayed: a trimmed lamp burning brightly, a heart tuned to divine trumpets, and a soul undeterred by worldly temptations. Each dawn, the believer awakens with fervent hope, shielding faith against trials and mockery, anchored in the promise of Christ’s return. The poem culminates in the believer’s soul’s anticipated ascent to meet the Savior when the clouds part, emphasizing eternal devotion and divine glory.

They watch the skies with fervent, steadfast gaze,
Their heart attuned to trumpets yet unheard.
Each dawn they wake, their soul in ardent craze,
Awaits the Lord, by sacred promise stirred.
Their lamp is trimmed, its flame burns clear and bright,
No worldly weight can dim their spirit’s fire.
Through trials faced, they hold to heaven’s light,
Their hope a chord in God’s eternal choir.
The world may mock, its pleasures fleeting call,
Yet they, unmoved, seek glory’s holy shore.
Their faith, a shield, will never bend or fall,
For Christ’s return they’re ready evermore.
When clouds shall part, their soul will rise to meet,
The King of Kings, their Savior’s throne complete.

Sonnet: Crowned by Our King’s Tender Mercies and Joyful Faithfulness by Debbie Harris

The sonnet, “Crowned by Our King’s Tender Mercies and Joyful Faithfulness,” is a majestic and joyful celebration of God’s unending mercies and steadfast faithfulness, as inspired by Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV). Presented in a Shakespearean sonnet form, it portrays God as a sovereign King whose royal authority and tender compassion protect and uplift His people. The poem creatively weaves the biblical verses through regal imagery and exultant language, emphasizing God’s daily renewal of mercy and unwavering loyalty.

The first quatrain depicts God’s mercies as a kingly guard, with His throne and tender compassions ensuring His people’s safety, rising each morning like a radiant scepter. The second quatrain proclaims that no darkness can overshadow His royal love, as His mercies reign supreme at dawn, with His faithfulness celebrated in golden splendor. The third quatrain asserts that no storm can challenge His sovereign care, with each sunrise heralding restored promises and His steadfastness as a crown adorning the heart with hope. The final couplet joyfully exults in God’s mercies lifting hearts in glee, proclaiming His faithfulness as a jubilant “jubilee,” evoking a royal festival.

The sonnet maintains a triumphant and joyful tone, blending majestic imagery (throne, scepter, crown) with tender expressions (tender compassions, hope moored), reflecting a King who rules gloriously yet loves intimately. It avoids “grave”/“graved” by using phrases like “we abide,” employs “mercy” or “care” (e.g., “sovereign care”), and consistently uses “faithfulness” or “steadfastness” to ensure theological accuracy. The title and included KJV verses ground the poem in scripture, while the festive couplet seals its royal, celebratory spirit.

It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23, KJV)

Our King’s vast mercies guard us, we abide,
His throne of glory holds us in its sway.
His tender compassions, never set aside,
Each morn they rise, a scepter’s radiant display.

No shadow dims His royal love’s decree,
At dawn’s command, His mercies reign supreme.
Great is Thy faithfulness, our souls agree,
Thy boundless grace in golden splendor gleams.

No tempest dares defy His sovereign care,
Each sunrise trumpets promises restored.
His steadfastness, a crown beyond compare,
Adorns our hearts with hope forever soared.

O Lord, Thy mercies lift our hearts in glee,
Great is Thy faithfulness, our jubilee!

The Soul’s Restraint in Grief’s Deep Pain, Yielding Vengeance to God’s Eternal Reign by Debbie Harris

The sonnet, titled “The Soul’s Restraint in Grief’s Deep Pain, Yielding Vengeance to God’s Eternal Reign,” is a Shakespearean sonnet inspired by Romans 12:19, which urges against seeking revenge and trusting God’s justice. It explores the emotional struggle of enduring grief caused by wrongs, advocating restraint from vengeful impulses. The speaker advises clinging to faith, as God alone will judge and avenge justly. Through patience and trust in divine retribution, the heart finds peace, leaving vengeance to God’s righteous and eternal authority.

When wrong doth strike the heart with bitter sting,
Let not thy soul in vengeful fury rise,
But hold thy wrath, and to the heavens cling,
Where justice reigns beneath eternal skies.
The wounds of grief may burn with fiery pain,
Yet mortal hands must shun revenge’s call;
For God alone shall judge, His will made plain,
His righteous hand shall balance each and all.
Leave room for grace, let patience guide thy way,
And trust the Lord to right the cruelest wrong.
No deed escapes His sight, no sin’s delay,
His vengeance falls, precise, where it belongs.
So stay thy grief, and in His peace abide,
For God repays, with justice as His guide.

1 Peter 2:9 (KJV): “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

Royally redeemed, with blood divine,
A priesthood crowned by heaven’s sacred call,
Ye born again, in Christ’s own light enthralled,
God’s treasure, radiant in His light sublime.

From darkness deep, He summoned you to shine,
To sing His praises, bold, unmoved by thrall,
With hearts triumphant, breaking every wall,
Your voices soar where mortal hopes align.

Majestic is your charge, O saints of grace,
To bear His glory through the world’s dim haze,
A beacon bright, unyielding, pure, and strong.

Proclaim the King who called you to His face,
And walk as heirs where endless anthems raise,
For you are His, crowned in eternal grace.

Summary of the Sonnet: A Poetic Tribute to the Great Redeemer, Lord of Endless Might, and Everlasting Comforter, Whose Presence Fortifies the Soul in the Fiercest Fight of Toilsome Duties

Inspired by 2 Timothy 4:17 (KJV), the sonnet portrays a speaker overwhelmed by daunting tasks, likened to towering cliffs and heavy burdens. Despite faltering courage, the speaker finds strength through the constant presence of God, described with grand titles: the Everlasting Comforter and Font, Mighty Fortress, Sovereign Shepherd, and Great Redeemer, Lord of Endless Might. God’s grace renews the speaker’s spirit, dispels fear, and guides them through relentless challenges. The sonnet culminates in a triumphant declaration of God’s boundless strength as a refuge, enabling the speaker to persevere in the fiercest struggles of arduous duties.

When daunting tasks like mountains rise to view,
And weary soul shrinks back from toilsome load,
The Lord, my steadfast guide, stands ever true,
His strength divine upon my heart bestowed.

Though labors steep demand my faltering might,
His presence kindles fire within my breast,
Each arduous step, He bathes in holy light,
And bids my trembling hands to find their zest.

No task too vast, no burden breaks my frame,
When He, my rock, upholds me in His care,
Through trials fierce, His love remains the same,
And scatters fear with grace beyond compare.

O Lord, with Thee, no hardship shall I flee,
Thy strength my shield through all eternity.

Sonnet: The Grass Withers, the Flowers Fall, Yet God’s Holy Word Endures Forever (Isaiah 40:8) by Debbie Harris

The sonnet, a Shakespearean sonnet inspired by Isaiah 40:8, explores the contrast between the fleeting nature of earthly beauty and the eternal endurance of God’s word. It begins by depicting the transience of grass and flowers, which flourish briefly but wither under the sun’s heat and autumn’s chill, symbolizing the impermanence of all earthly things. In contrast, God’s word is presented as an unwavering, everlasting truth, likened to towering mountains that stand firm through time and storms. The sonnet concludes by affirming that, while nature fades, God’s word remains a constant source of peace, hope, and guidance for humanity. Written in 14 lines with iambic pentameter and an ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme, the sonnet uses vivid natural imagery to echo the biblical verse’s message of divine permanence amidst mortal frailty.

The tender grass in verdant splendor grows,
Yet wilts beneath the sun’s relentless blaze;
The flowers bloom where fleeting beauty glows,
Then fade to naught in time’s unyielding maze.
Their fragile forms succumb to autumn’s chill,
No earthly root defies the season’s claim;
But God’s great word, with everlasting will,
Burns bright, unquenched, a never-fading flame.
Like mountains tall that stand through countless years,
His truth endures, unmoved by storm or strife;
It speaks of peace to calm our mortal fears,
A steadfast hope to guide the soul through life.
Though grass and blooms in fleeting moments fall,
God’s word remains, eternal, over all.
