In every royal soul redeemed,
A hope arises, softly gleamed,
That Christ within us might be seen,
A light through grace, pure and serene.

A Sonnet on the Virtue of Resting in the Lord and Waiting Patiently for His Justice, as Inspired by Psalm 37:7 in the King James Version by Debbie Harris

The sonnet urges the reader to find peace and patience in God, trusting in His justice despite the temporary success of the wicked. It emphasizes that evil’s prosperity is fleeting, while faith and stillness in the Lord bring lasting strength and hope, culminating in divine light overcoming darkness in the end.

Rest thou in peace beneath the Lord’s great eye,
And wait with heart untroubled through the storm,
Though wicked men in wealth and power climb,
Their schemes like shadows twist in fleeting form.

Fret not thyself when evil seems to reign,
When prosp’rous hands devise their cunning art,
For time doth turn, and justice shall remain,
A quiet strength shall steady every heart.

The Lord doth see, His patience holds the key,
To still the soul amid the tempest’s roar,
In silence, faith shall bloom eternally,

And peace shall rise where anguish dwelt before.
So rest, dear soul, and trust His holy way,
For light shall break upon the final day.

Christ’s Passionate Heir Stands Bold in the Sodom and Gomorrah of Today’s Contemporary Society and Modern Chaos by Debbie Harris

The sonnet portrays a steadfast follower of Christ thriving amid a contemporary society likened to the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah—places of moral decay and rebellion, now symbolizing today’s chaotic, godless culture. In a world where weak souls succumb to secular allure, this passionate believer stands defiantly bold, their faith a blazing light that outshines the darkness. Unashamed, they proclaim their joy and zeal, fueled by Christ’s victory, undeterred by the empty noise of modern life—screens and worldly clamor. Their heart remains unshaken, carving a holy path through the din with fearless resolve. The poem culminates in a triumphant stand against the loud, prideful schemes of a godless age, where Christ’s chosen collectively uphold His truth as their ultimate, conquering foundation.

In Sodom’s glow and Gomorrah’s wild disdain,
Where faint souls drift in modern chaos’ thrall,
Christ’s passionate heir stands bold against the grain,
Their faith a flame that rises over all.
No shame can hush their fierce and joyful shout,
For Christ’s own win ignites their every breath,
They scorn the dark, their spirit breaking out,
A holy zeal that triumphs over death.
Though screens proclaim a loud and empty tune,
Their heart holds fast, a light no storm can sway,
In worldly din, they wield a victor’s boon,
With fearless joy, they carve a sacred way.
Against the roar of godless, prideful schemes,
Christ’s chosen stand, His truth a conquering theme.

The Difference Between Revering Saints and Adoring the Savior by Debbie Harris

The poem explores the distinction between honoring saints and worshipping Jesus Christ. It acknowledges the saints’ exemplary lives as sources of inspiration and guidance, likening them to mirrors and torches that reflect faith and light. However, it emphasizes that only Jesus, the divine Son who sacrificed Himself to redeem humanity, deserves worship. While saints are revered for their holiness, adoration belongs solely to Christ, who reigns eternally as the true Savior.

Upon the line where reverence meets the soul,
We lift our hearts to saints of storied grace,
Their lives a mirror, steadfast, pure, and whole,
Yet worship bows to One who took our place.
For Christ alone, the Son, the Lamb divine,
Did rend the veil and bear the sinner’s cost,
His blood, His breath, the everlasting sign,
No mortal deed could save what once was lost.
Saints guide us, yes, with light from days of old,
Their faith a torch to kindle in the night,
But adoration’s crown, of worth untold,
Belongs to Him who reigns in endless light.
So honor we the holy, meek, and true,
Yet worship flows to Jesus, always true.

The sonnet is a 14-line poem written in the Shakespearean style, reflecting a prayerful plea for spiritual growth and divine guidance, mirroring the themes of 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12. It begins with a request for God to make the speaker worthy of His calling and to help them live out their faith, despite fears of failure. The speaker asks God to fulfill their good intentions and faithful actions through His divine power, so that Jesus’ name may be glorified through their life. The poem acknowledges human frailty, emphasizing reliance on God’s strength and mercy to overcome trials. It concludes with a commitment to live by grace, trusting in Christ, and aiming to glorify Him in all things.

We lift our hearts in prayer, O Lord, to Thee,
That Thou wouldst make us worthy of Thy call,
With grace to stand, though oft we fear to fall,
And seek Thy will in all we strive to be.

Fulfill in us the good that faith has sown,
By power divine, let every deed take flight,
That in our lives Thy glory shines so bright,
And Jesus’ name through us be ever known.

Thy strength, O God, sustains our fragile frame,
When trials come, Thy mercy holds us fast,
We walk by faith, though shadows may be cast,
And trust Thy love will never be the same.

So may we live, by grace, in Christ our King,
To glorify His name in everything.

The sonnet celebrates the cross as the ultimate source of victory and glory. It portrays the cross as a triumphant symbol that overcomes all earthly challenges, transforming sorrow into joy and death into life. With a tone of exultation, it emphasizes the unconquerable power and radiant love embodied in the cross, declaring it the sole foundation of the speaker’s boundless, defiant glory.

Upon the cross, my triumph loudly sings,
A victor’s shout that echoes through the skies,
No earthly force can chain these soaring wings,
For in its might, my glory boldly rises.

The rugged beams, once stained with sorrow’s hue,
Now gleam with joy, a banner lifted high,
A conquering love has shattered death anew,
And crowned my soul with anthems that defy.

Let tempests rage, let darkness vainly roar,
The cross prevails, my radiant delight,
Its power reigns, unshaken evermore,
A blazing dawn that banishes the night.

In this alone, my heart exults to claim,
A boundless glory in the cross’s name!

Verse 1:
In the cross alone I glory,
There my Savior bore my shame,
Not in wealth or fleeting story,
But in Jesus’ holy name.

Verse 2:
Earthly crowns shall fade and wither,
Pride of man shall turn to dust,
Yet the cross stands firm forever,
In its grace I place my trust.

Verse 3:
Blood upon that timber flowing,
Washed my soul from sin’s dark stain,
Through His wounds my heart is knowing,
Light eternal I shall gain.

Chorus:
Hallelujah, Christ has risen,
From the cross He set me free,
In His death my hope is given,
All my glory—Calvary!

O Lord, my soul in might doth rise,
My hopes blaze forth to pierce the skies,
Through trials bold I stand unbowed,
Thy power lifts me high and proud.

Refrain
King of Kings doth see my soul’s great worth,
Lord of Lords exalts my victorious birth.

When dreams defy the darkest night,
Thy glory turns my Foes to flight,
Each test I crush with Thee my might,
A conqueror in Thy holy sight.

Refrain
King of Kings doth see my soul’s great worth,
Lord of Lords exalts my victorious birth.

From failures past, Thy strength I gain,
Success doth crown my battle’s strain,
Through storms I march, Thy voice my cheer,
A song of conquest ringing clear.

Refrain
King of Kings doth see my soul’s great worth,
Lord of Lords exalts my victorious birth.

With joy I shout, my spirit free,
Thy sight proclaims my victory,
From dust to throne, Thy name I sing,
A warrior bold for Christ my King.

Refrain
King of Kings doth see my soul’s great worth,
Lord of Lords exalts my victorious birth.

Being Born Again Awakens the Soul to Behold God’s Sacred Truth by Debbie Harris

The sonnet explores the transformative power of being born again, depicting it as a spiritual awakening that frees the soul from darkness and ignorance. Initially blind to divine truth, the soul is lost in sin until a heavenly call sparks a rebirth. This renewal lifts the veil of obscurity, allowing light to flood in and reveal God’s sacred wisdom. Guided by the Word, the reborn spirit gains clear vision, leaving behind its old limitations to rest in Christ’s grace and perceive eternal truth.

In shadows deep, the soul stumbles and strays,
Till heaven’s voice ignites a second birth,
A spark divine that sets the heart ablaze,
And lifts the veil from eyes to see true worth.
The darkened gaze can’t breach the haze of sin,
Nor flesh alone unlock the sacred lore,
But born anew, the light comes rushing in,
And shows the soul what it had missed before.
The Word springs forth, a beacon clear and bright,
Each line a flame to guide the spirit’s quest,
The old life fades, eclipsed by boundless sight,
In Christ reborn, the weary find their rest.
Through this new birth, our vision is unbound,
To see His truth where grace and glory sound.

Martyrs’ Blood and Golden Pews: A Tribute to the Brutally Persecuted by Radical Islam by Debbie Harris

Globally 100 million Christians face religious persecution. Annually, an estimated 7,000 Christians are killed for their faith! Rise up Church! Rise up and stop this Genocide!

Proverbs 31:8 (NIV) says, Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

While martyrs bleed beneath a tyrant’s hand,
The faithful fall, their cries ascend to God,
In pews of gold, the prosperous demand
A life of ease, untouched by sacred rod.
Their prayers chase wealth, a car, a fleeting crown,
While saints are burned, their witness carved in flame,
The cross, a mockery, is cast down—
A gospel traded for a hollow name.
Yet fire shall test what each has built in time,
The wood, the hay, the stubble—all shall burn,
Gold forged in pain alone shall prove sublime,
For Christ’s own heart the suffering discern.
Awake, O soul, and weep for those who die—
The faithful shine when persecution’s nigh.
