The sonnet portrays a world shrouded in darkness and burdened by sin, where humanity struggles in despair. Amid this gloom, Jesus emerges as the singular source of hope, a divine light whose love and grace mend brokenness and offer eternal salvation. Earthly powers pale in comparison to His might and mercy, establishing Him as the way, the truth, and the life. The poem concludes with a call for all nations to praise Him, affirming that Christ alone is the world’s ultimate hope and redemption.

Amid the shadows cast by mortal strife,
Where hearts in darkness wander far astray,
The world, a canvas marred by sin’s dull knife,
Cries out beneath its burdens day by day.
Yet through the gloom, a single light does gleam,
A Savior born to bear our every woe,
His love, the thread that mends each broken seam,
In Him alone does hope eternal grow.
No earthly crown can rival grace divine,
No power here can match His tender might,
For Jesus, Lamb and King, in truth does shine,
The way, the life, the dawn that ends our night.
So let the nations lift their voice and sing,
In Christ alone, our hope, our everything.

The frost unclenches,
a fist of winter softened
by the first gold thread
of morning—light spills
like sap through the veins
of the maple, tender
and alive.

Beneath the stone’s
cold weight, a tremor—
not of earth, but of breath
unfurling, a green shoot
splitting the dark.
The sparrow knows it,
tilting her beak to sing
what the wind already hums:
He is not here.

The garden quivers,
petals unscrolling
from their tight tombs,
and I, barefoot
on this damp soil,
feel the pulse
of a world remade—
not by my hands,
but His rising.

Where cypress bows to kiss the river’s gleam,
And sunlight threads the moss in golden strands,
I walk the wildwood, borne on strength supreme—
Christ’s power dwells in these frail, mortal hands.

The heron stands unmoved by wind’s rough play,
The pine holds firm though tempests rake the hill—
So in my soul, a might beyond decay,
A quiet force that bends me to His will.

Through tangled paths where shadows darkly press,
When doubt would root and fear would bid me flee,
I feel the pulse of grace, no less, no less—
Christ’s power dwells, a fire alive in me.

The brook sings on though stones its course defy,
The eagle mounts where mortal sight grows dim—
So too, with Him, my spirit lifts to fly,
His strength my song, my everlasting hymn.

The poem celebrates the joy and spiritual fulfillment found in performing a task for God’s glory. It describes a person who approaches their work with enthusiasm and faith, feeling uplifted rather than weighed down. As they complete the task, they proclaim “Done!” with exhilaration, their soul enriched by divine love and purpose. The sonnet portrays labor as a source of heavenly delight, where every effort reflects God’s radiance, culminating in boundless, eternal joy.

With eager hands, I greet the morning’s call,
A task to weave beneath the golden sky,
My spirit lifts, no burden here to ply,
For in His name, I rise above it all.
Each motion sings, a hymn to grace so tall,
The heart takes flight where earthly cares deny,
“Done!” I shout, with rapture drawing nigh,
God’s glory crowns my soul, my joy enthralls.

The day unfolds in beams of radiant light,
A path of purpose, free and unconfined,
His love ignites the spark within my sight,
Through every deed, His splendor intertwined.
To labor so is heaven’s pure delight,
A boundless joy, eternal and divine.

To do mighty exploits in His name,
His holy call, so royal, rings,
And crowns us with the joy it brings.

His royal call, an anthem strong,
Crowns us with joy in endless song.

The poem, titled “The Holy Hush of a Redeemed Spirit Crowned in Christ’s Eternal Joy,” explores the profound peace and joy of a soul redeemed by mercy. It depicts a journey of leaning into Christ’s unwavering love and strength, where fears fade, wounds heal, and sorrows lift under His care. Through vivid imagery—a quiet light, a whisper stronger than stone, a rising spirit—the sonnet conveys a sacred calm amidst life’s storms. It culminates in a triumphant vision of the soul, crowned and exalted, forever united with Christ in eternal joy.

The holy hush of mercy’s soul redeemed,
Leaning into Christ, whose love will hearts renew,
A rush of peace and joy fills every seam,
A quiet light where weary hearts renew.

The shadows fade beneath His tender care,
A whisper soft, yet mightier than stone,
The soul, once frail, now rises through the air,
In love’s embrace, no longer left alone.

Through storms that rage, His power holds me fast,
A sacred calm where fears dissolve and flee,
Each wound redeemed, each sorrow overcast,
By mercy’s hand, He lifts the spirit free.

The holy hush, a crown for hearts restored,
Exalts the soul with Christ forevermore.

A Sonnet on the Virtue of Resting in the Lord and Waiting Patiently for His Justice, as Inspired by Psalm 37:7 in the King James Version by Debbie Harris

The sonnet urges the reader to find peace and patience in God, trusting in His justice despite the temporary success of the wicked. It emphasizes that evil’s prosperity is fleeting, while faith and stillness in the Lord bring lasting strength and hope, culminating in divine light overcoming darkness in the end.

Rest thou in peace beneath the Lord’s great eye,
And wait with heart untroubled through the storm,
Though wicked men in wealth and power climb,
Their schemes like shadows twist in fleeting form.

Fret not thyself when evil seems to reign,
When prosp’rous hands devise their cunning art,
For time doth turn, and justice shall remain,
A quiet strength shall steady every heart.

The Lord doth see, His patience holds the key,
To still the soul amid the tempest’s roar,
In silence, faith shall bloom eternally,

And peace shall rise where anguish dwelt before.
So rest, dear soul, and trust His holy way,
For light shall break upon the final day.

Christ’s Passionate Heir Stands Bold in the Sodom and Gomorrah of Today’s Contemporary Society and Modern Chaos by Debbie Harris

The sonnet portrays a steadfast follower of Christ thriving amid a contemporary society likened to the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah—places of moral decay and rebellion, now symbolizing today’s chaotic, godless culture. In a world where weak souls succumb to secular allure, this passionate believer stands defiantly bold, their faith a blazing light that outshines the darkness. Unashamed, they proclaim their joy and zeal, fueled by Christ’s victory, undeterred by the empty noise of modern life—screens and worldly clamor. Their heart remains unshaken, carving a holy path through the din with fearless resolve. The poem culminates in a triumphant stand against the loud, prideful schemes of a godless age, where Christ’s chosen collectively uphold His truth as their ultimate, conquering foundation.

In Sodom’s glow and Gomorrah’s wild disdain,
Where faint souls drift in modern chaos’ thrall,
Christ’s passionate heir stands bold against the grain,
Their faith a flame that rises over all.
No shame can hush their fierce and joyful shout,
For Christ’s own win ignites their every breath,
They scorn the dark, their spirit breaking out,
A holy zeal that triumphs over death.
Though screens proclaim a loud and empty tune,
Their heart holds fast, a light no storm can sway,
In worldly din, they wield a victor’s boon,
With fearless joy, they carve a sacred way.
Against the roar of godless, prideful schemes,
Christ’s chosen stand, His truth a conquering theme.

The Difference Between Revering Saints and Adoring the Savior by Debbie Harris

The poem explores the distinction between honoring saints and worshipping Jesus Christ. It acknowledges the saints’ exemplary lives as sources of inspiration and guidance, likening them to mirrors and torches that reflect faith and light. However, it emphasizes that only Jesus, the divine Son who sacrificed Himself to redeem humanity, deserves worship. While saints are revered for their holiness, adoration belongs solely to Christ, who reigns eternally as the true Savior.

Upon the line where reverence meets the soul,
We lift our hearts to saints of storied grace,
Their lives a mirror, steadfast, pure, and whole,
Yet worship bows to One who took our place.
For Christ alone, the Son, the Lamb divine,
Did rend the veil and bear the sinner’s cost,
His blood, His breath, the everlasting sign,
No mortal deed could save what once was lost.
Saints guide us, yes, with light from days of old,
Their faith a torch to kindle in the night,
But adoration’s crown, of worth untold,
Belongs to Him who reigns in endless light.
So honor we the holy, meek, and true,
Yet worship flows to Jesus, always true.
