God’s Anathema Upon Churches Preaching a False Gospel Leading Souls to Perdition by Debbie Harris

The poem warns of God’s anathema (divine curse) on churches that preach a false gospel, deviating from the true, biblical message of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It portrays liberal churches as distorting scripture with softened teachings, leading souls toward spiritual ruin and eternal perdition. Using vivid imagery of clouded skies, dimming light, and hell’s deceptive gates, the poem contrasts the pure gospel’s clarity with the dangers of falsehood. It urges churches to hold fast to untainted truth, emphasizing God’s resolute judgment and the dire consequences for those who mislead the flock. The tone is somber yet urgent, reflecting evangelical concerns about doctrinal purity and the eternal fate of souls.

Beneath the spire, where voices rise,
A gospel sounds, but clouds the skies.
The Word, once sharp as heaven’s sword,
Is bent, reshaped, its truth ignored.

The Shepherd’s call, so clear, so free,
“By grace, through faith, come unto Me.”
Yet some would weave a softer tale,
Where truth dissolves, and souls may fail.

Anathema, the Lord’s decree,
A holy wrath none dare foresee.
For those who twist His sacred plea,
And lead the flock where none should be.

The gates of hell, with subtle guise,
Wear mercy’s mask in preacher’s eyes.
But light grows dim, the path descends,
Where falsehood reigns, and hope pretends.

Oh, church, beware the siren’s art,
That strays the soul and breaks the heart.
The Gospel’s flame, unyielding, bright,
Must guide the lost through endless night.

God’s voice resounds, His verdict sure,
“Hold fast My truth, untainted, pure.”
Lest anathema’s weight befall,
And souls be lost beyond recall.

The poem is a heartfelt prayer for the victims of devastating floods in Texas, where many families and young children lost their lives. It calls on the Lord to wrap His comforting arms around those grieving, offering solace and peace to ease their profound sorrow. The verses seek divine strength to mend broken hearts, restore hope, and provide refuge for those affected by the tragedy.

In Texas, where the waters raged,
Families and young ones, lives upstaged,
Hearts now heavy, torn by loss,
Grieving ‘neath the flood’s cruel cross.

Lord, wrap Your arms around each soul,
Whose light was dimmed, whose days were stole.
Hold tight the children, families gone,
In Your embrace, where love lives on.

Through sorrow’s weight, through endless tears,
Be near to calm their deepest fears.
In shattered homes, where silence dwells,
Let Your peace in broken hearts swell.

For those who mourn, for lives so brief,
Send comfort strong to ease their grief.
Cradle them in Your boundless care,
Till hope returns, and hearts repair.

Amen.

Divine Mercy Unbound: A Poetic Meditation on Romans 11:6 and the Triumph of Grace Over Works by Debbie Harris

Based on Romans 11:6 (KJV): And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

The sonnet, inspired by Romans 11:6, explores the concept of divine grace as a free gift from God, unearned by human works. It emphasizes that salvation comes through faith alone, not through human effort or adherence to the law, which cannot overcome sin. The poem highlights God’s mercy, the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice, and the futility of boasting in personal deeds. It concludes by urging reliance on grace, with glory given solely to Christ.

If grace be grace, it comes not by our deed,
For works would bind what freely God bestows.
His mercy flows where human efforts cede,
A gift divine no labor can compose.
No boast of man can claim salvation’s crown,
Nor hands of flesh weave righteousness to wear.
By faith alone His favor doth abound,
A love unearned, yet boundless in its care.
The law’s demand, though just, could ne’er suffice,
For sin’s deep stain no mortal toil can clear.
But God’s elect, through grace, receive the price,
His Son’s own blood, to draw the chosen near.
So let us rest in grace, and works forsake,
For Christ’s alone the glory we partake.

The poem, titled Crowned in Glory: The Bible’s Bejeweled Treasury for the Redeemed, celebrates the Bible as a divine treasury for those redeemed in Christ. Using vivid gemstone imagery, it portrays Scripture as a collection of precious jewels, each symbolizing a spiritual truth: rubies for the redeeming blood of grace, emeralds for eternal hope, sapphires for wisdom, diamonds for the enduring strength of God’s Word, and amethysts for the royal glory of the redeemed. The poem emphasizes the Bible’s unassailable wealth, its role as a guiding light, and the exalted status of the redeemed, crowned by divine love.

In Christ, the royally redeemed we stand,
Our Bible, a treasury blessed in hand.
A radiant vault where gemstones gleam,
Each verse a jewel, each truth a dream.

Like rubies bold, the blood of grace,
Pours from the cross, our hiding place.
Its crimson fire lights up the soul,
Redeeming love that makes us whole.

The emerald shines, eternal spring,
Of promises kept, of life to bring.
In pages green, God’s mercy grows,
A verdant hope that ever flows.

Sapphires deep, of wisdom’s hue,
Reflect the truths that guide us through.
Their starry blaze in Scripture’s night,
Illumes our path with holy light.

The diamond, pure, unyielding, bright,
God’s Word endures, our steadfast might.
No storm can crack its sacred core,
Its strength our shield forevermore.

And amethyst, with royal glow,
Adorns the redeemed, His grace to show.
In purple splendor, we are crowned,
By love divine, in glory bound.

This treasury, no thief can claim,
Its gems outshine all earthly fame.
For royally redeemed we sing,
The Bible’s wealth, our endless spring.

The original hymn “I Find My Hope in Jesus” is a newly composed Christian hymn with six stanzas and a refrain, created to fulfill your request. Each stanza emphasizes finding hope in Jesus through various aspects of His love, sacrifice, guidance, promises, and eternal salvation. The refrain reinforces Jesus as the unwavering source of hope, guiding believers through life and death. Written in a traditional hymn style with a common meter (8.6.8.6), it is suitable for congregational singing and focuses on themes of trust, redemption, and eternal hope in Christ.

Stanza 1
I find my hope in Jesus’ name,
His mercy flows, His love the same.
Through darkest trials, He is near,
My strength, my peace, my heart to cheer.

Refrain
My hope is Jesus, ever true,
His grace and love will carry through.
In life or death, I’ll trust His way,
My Savior leads me day by day.

Stanza 2
When sin’s great weight would crush my soul,
His blood has cleansed and made me whole.
The cross of Christ, my victory won,
In Him, my hope is firmly begun.

Refrain
My hope is Jesus, ever true,
His grace and love will carry through.
In life or death, I’ll trust His way,
My Savior leads me day by day.

Stanza 3
In stormy seas, He calms my fears,
His gentle voice my spirit hears.
Though waves may rise, His hand will guide,
My hope in Jesus will abide.

Refrain
My hope is Jesus, ever true,
His grace and love will carry through.
In life or death, I’ll trust His way,
My Savior leads me day by day.

Stanza 4
His promises will never fail,
Through every test, they will prevail.
His Word, a light upon my road,
In Jesus, hope is my abode.

Refrain
My hope is Jesus, ever true,
His grace and love will carry through.
In life or death, I’ll trust His way,
My Savior leads me day by day.

Stanza 5
When shadows fall and doubts arise,
His truth shines bright before my eyes.
My Savior’s love will never wane,
In Him, my hope shall still remain.

Refrain
My hope is Jesus, ever true,
His grace and love will carry through.
In life or death, I’ll trust His way,
My Savior leads me day by day.

Stanza 6
One day I’ll stand before His throne,
And know the hope I’ve always known.
Eternal joy with Christ I’ll share,
My hope fulfilled in glory there.

Refrain
My hope is Jesus, ever true,
His grace and love will carry through.
In life or death, I’ll trust His way,
My Savior leads me day by day.

Our Savior lifts us to the sky.

With grateful hearts, we sing His grace,

Each second hums with holy fire,
His truth our anthem, hearts aspire.
Elevated, bold, and free we stand,

The sonnet, titled “Proverbs 4:18,” celebrates the triumphant journey of the righteous, inspired by the verse describing their path as a shining light growing brighter until the perfect day. It portrays their path as a radiant ascent from dawn to noon, overcoming darkness with divine truth and guidance. Each step sparkles with victory, carving a trail of sacred fire, unhindered by gloom. Their lives shine as beacons, proclaiming salvation’s complete and graceful hope, culminating in a victorious crown of faith and light.

The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

The path of righteous souls, a dawning ray,
Ascends through veils of night to radiant morn.
As sunlight crowns the hills with golden scorn,
Their steps dispel the dark in bright array.

From fragile gleam to noontide’s bold display,
A flame of truth within their hearts is born.
Through shadowed vales, they walk, yet never torn,
For light eternal guides their steadfast way.

Each stride a triumph, sparkling like the dew,
Their journey carves a trail of sacred fire.
No gloom can bind what heaven’s glow has freed.

Their lives, a beacon, ever bright and true,
Proclaim salvation’s hope, a grace entire—
A victor’s crown where faith and light succeed.

Exalted by Grace: The Redeemed, Born-Again Rise in Christ’s Victory by Debbie Harris

The poem, titled “Exalted by Grace: The Redeemed, Born-Again Rise in Christ’s Victory”, is a triumphant celebration of the hope and victory found by the redeemed and born-again when they feel insignificant or dismissed by worldly powers. Written in the third person with gender-neutral language, it portrays “they” (the redeemed, born-again) as overcoming scorn and rejection through the grace and love of Jesus, the eternal King. The poem emphasizes their radiant worth, unshaken hope, and exalted status in Christ’s victory over death, which redeems and renews them. Inspired by John 18:36-37, it underscores Jesus’ divine kingdom and purpose, affirming that His sacrifice gives eternal value to every soul, far beyond human recognition.

Bible Reference: John 18:36-37 (ESV)

36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”
37 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”

Connection to the Poem

The poem draws directly from John 18:36 (“My kingdom is not of this world”) to highlight Jesus’ transcendent kingship, which surpasses the earthly powers that may reject or devalue individuals. The passage’s focus on Christ’s purpose—bearing witness to the truth and calling those who hear Him—mirrors the poem’s depiction of the redeemed, born-again finding their identity, worth, and victory in His love and sacrifice, independent of worldly validation.

Though shadows loom and voices scorn,
When earthly powers cast them aside,
They rise with eyes to glory born—
The King of Kings exalts their stride.

No mortal crown can dim their light,
No fleeting slight can break their soul.
In Christ’s great love, they shine so bright,
His victory makes them whole.

“My kingdom is not of this world,” He spoke,
Yet for this world, He conquered death.
Each soul He claims, each chain He broke,
In His embrace, they find their breath.

No longer lost, unseen, or small,
They stand where earthly rulers fade.
The eternal King has crowned them all,
Their hope in Jesus never sways.
