The poem, titled “Seatherny’s Royal Symphony,” captures a serene moment at dawn where the beauty of nature and divine creation intertwine. A brief note explains that “seatherny” is a coined term for the peace felt when hearing birdsong. The verses describe royal, melodic notes and bird-inspired “feathered sonnets” filling the morning air, a harmonious “refrain” crafted by Christ. This beauty flows outward, unfolding like a symphony, evoking a sense of ongoing wonder and tranquility.

Note: “Seatherny” is a coined term meaning the serenity felt when listening to birdsong.

Royal notes through dawn’s embrace,
Feathered sonnets fill the space,
Christ created this sweet refrain,
Beauty flows, a symphony unfolds.

Strung on bark,
This is God’s
Glorious creation
Of trees!

For You Are Great and Do Marvelous Deeds; You Alone Are God by Debbie Harris

The poem is a lyrical reflection on Psalm 86:10, celebrating God’s unparalleled greatness, marvelous deeds, and sovereign love. It paints vivid images of creation—sky, stars, oceans, mountains, and more—bowing to God’s power and glory. Through nature’s wonders and intimate care, it portrays a God who heals, sustains, and reigns alone, unmatched by any rival. The poem weaves themes of divine majesty and tender love, culminating in the affirmation that all wonders find their source and resting place in God alone.

Beneath the vast and endless sky,
Your splendor lifts my soul on high.
With wonders shaped by hands unseen,
You cloak the world in gold and green.
The dawn ignites with fiery hue,
Each breath of life a gift from You.
No force can match Your boundless might,
A love that turns the dark to light.

No other name commands the stars,
Nor heals the heart’s deep-hidden scars.
The oceans roar, the tempests cease,
Your love pours out in waves of peace.
The sparrow soars, the lilies bloom,
Your tender care fills every room.
Through every age, Your works resound,
A love so deep, forever found.

Alone You reign, O Lord divine,
Your mighty acts, a holy sign.
The heavens stretch to tell Your story,
Each twinkling light reflects Your glory.
The winds whisper through the trees,
A love that humbles every breeze.
No idol forged by mortal hand,
Can know Your heart, or understand.

The mountains bow, the rivers sing,
To You, the one eternal King.
The thunder rolls, the lightning gleams,
Your love ignites the wildest dreams.
From desert sands to icy streams,
Your voice awakens love supreme.
No rival dares to claim Your throne,
Your sovereign will stands firm alone.

In silence deep, or chaos loud,
Your love shines through the darkest cloud.
The broken soul, the weary sigh,
Find refuge in Your watchful eye.
With every step, Your love is near,
A wonder chasing doubt and fear.
A love that holds the world in place,
In You alone, all wonders abide.

Title: “A Sonnet of Spring’s Awakening, Where the Eternal King Weaves Wonders in His Royal Heirs for Mighty Exploits”

This sonnet celebrates the transformative power of God, depicted as an eternal King who ushers in a spiritual spring, renewing the soul with vibrant imagery of blooming flowers (lilacs, daffodils, jasmine, roses, tulips) and flowing rivers. It portrays God’s royal authority awakening wonders within the speaker and His people, who, as royal heirs, rise to perform mighty deeds. The poem intertwines natural rebirth with divine empowerment, culminating in a triumphant declaration of God’s reign soaring through His chosen ones.

Bible References

  1. Daniel 11:32 – “But the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”
  • This verse directly inspires the theme of “mighty exploits” performed by those who know God, reflected in the second quatrain where the heirs “ascend” and their deeds “bloom like roses.”
  1. Psalm 104:30 – “When You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth.”
  • The imagery of spring’s renewal and God’s breath unfurling life (e.g., “Your royal breath unfurls a jasmine sea”) echoes this idea of divine creation and rejuvenation.
  1. Revelation 1:6 – “And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
  • The concept of believers as “royal heirs” with regal might ties to this passage, emphasizing our shared royalty with Christ, as seen in the poem’s focus on being “robed in You” and crowned by God.
  1. Isaiah 43:19 – “Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
  • The line “a river leaps from stone, a living spring” reflects this promise of new beginnings and miraculous transformation, paralleling spring’s awakening in the sonnet.
  1. Psalm 45:1-2 – “My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King… You are fairer than the sons of men; grace is poured upon Your lips.”
  • The sonnet’s praise of the “eternal Sire” and the fragrant, regal imagery (e.g., “purple sceptres high”) resonate with this poetic exultation of the King’s beauty and authority.

A throne of spring ascends o’er shattered frost,
Where lilacs blaze with purple sceptres high,
In me, O King, weave wonders none exhaust,
My spirit crowned beneath Your fragrant sky.

Through golden tides of daffodils that bend,
Your royal breath unfurls a jasmine sea,
We, robed in You, with regal might ascend,
Our exploits bloom like roses, wild and free.

The tulip fields bow low to Your command,
A kingdom’s pulse where petals softly sing,
In us, Your heirs, Your sovereign hand expands,
A river leaps from stone, a living spring.

Lord, fuse my heart to Yours, eternal Sire,
Through us, Your royal heirs, Your reign shall soar.

Sin Acknowledged, Grace Bestowed, and Creation’s Eternal Song by Debbie Harris

The poem explores the necessity of recognizing and naming sin as a fundamental step toward salvation. It argues that without acknowledging sin, humanity cannot fully grasp God’s holy law or seek His grace. The sonnet emphasizes that God’s creation—through its majesty and order—serves as undeniable evidence of His existence, leaving no excuse for disbelief. Ultimately, it asserts that by boldly confessing sin, mankind secures salvation, tying human redemption to the eternal truth revealed in the world around us.

None walk this earth unstained by mortal flaw,
Yet if we shun to name the sin we bear,
How stands the soul to heed the holy law,
Or find the grace that lingers in the air?
The word, if lost to silence or to shame,
Leaves blind the heart that yearns for saving light—
How then shall man confess his broken name,
Or turn from shadows into boundless sight?
Yet God, in wisdom, wove His truth abroad,
Through star and stone, His glory speaks alive—
Creation cries there is a sovereign God,
No excuse remains where doubters strive.
So call it sin, and let the truth be known,
Through that bold cry, salvation’s throne is won.

Spring Veil of White Petals, Christ’s Design by Debbie Harris

The sonnet “Spring Veil of White Petals, Christ’s Design” envisions the white spring buds of trees—Bradford Pear, Dogwood, Crabapple, Plum, and Magnolia—as a wedding dress crafted by Christ. Each tree shapes the gown’s divine form: the Pear’s musky, bold petals, the Dogwood’s lace-like bracts with earthy sweetness, the Crabapple’s pearl-like blooms with crisp fragrance, and the Plum and Magnolia’s graceful, scented array. Rich in imagery, the poem fuses nature’s splendor with spiritual metaphor, portraying spring’s blossoms as a fragrant, radiant vestment of grace and renewal.

The Bradford Pear unfurls its snowy veil,
A bride adorned in petals, soft and bright,
Its fragrance spills, a musky, wild exhale,
A gown of spring, bold-stitched by heaven’s light.

The Dogwood bows, its bracts like lace outspread,
A savior’s touch in every creamy fold,
With hints of earth, a scent both sweet and dead,
A vestment pure, through crucifixion told.

Crabapple blooms, like pearls on silk, arise,
Their perfume dances, tender, crisp, and free,
A garment gleamed with dew-kissed, soft surprise,
Christ’s handiwork in floral filigree.

Plum and Magnolia join, their white array,
A wedding dress of grace that scents the day.

The poem celebrates the arrival of spring as a divine gift from Christ the Creator. It begins with winter’s frost stepping aside, giving way to new green life and the sun’s warm touch, a reflection of Christ’s power. Birds sing and brooks flow, both crafted by His hands, while flowers like crocuses and cherry blossoms burst forth, praising His might. The air fills with a sweet, sacred fragrance, inspiring awe and joy. Spring emerges as a vibrant, verdant display of Christ’s artistry, culminating in a vision of His creation as a supreme masterpiece, part of His holy design.

The frost recedes, a pause in winter’s hold,
As tender green emerges, soft and free,
The sun, His golden touch from Christ retold,
Revives the earth with warmth’s eternity.
Through branches bare, the robins weave their song,
A chorus stitched by hands that shaped the dew,
The brooks, unbound, now dance and rush along,
Their silver laughter born of Heaven’s view.
In fields, the crocus lifts its purple flame,
While cherry blooms exalt the Creator’s might,
The air grows sweet with spring’s divine acclaim,
A fragrant hymn from Christ, the soul’s delight.
So spring arrives, His gift in verdant gleam,
Christ’s artistry, a masterpiece supreme.

The sonnet celebrates the exhilarating renewal of spring as a divine act of Christ, brimming with vivid imagery and fragrances. It paints an earth bursting into life with emerald hills, golden daffodils, cherry blossoms, and bowing hyacinths, all swept by a fragrant breeze of lilac, honeysuckle, and fresh soil. Sunlit streams and fluttering butterflies join nature’s chorus, reflecting a season of redemption and glory that mirrors Christ’s triumph over death. The poem captures the excitement of this awakening as a testament to His eternal promise, blending sensory richness with spiritual reverence.

The earth awakes with Christ’s triumphant call,
A verdant hymn unfurls o’er hill and vale,
Where golden daffodils in rapture sprawl,
And cherry blossoms blush through morning’s gale.
The air, a canvas thick with lilac’s breath,
Entwines with soil’s dark scent, reborn and free,
A breeze divine, defying winter’s death,
Whispers renewal through each budding tree.

Hyacinths bow, their purple heads in praise,
While streams reflect the sun’s exultant gleam,
A fragrant dance of honeysuckle sways,
And butterflies paint life’s eternal theme.
In spring’s embrace, His glory richly grows,
A season’s grace where redemption flows.

The emerald trees in silent grandeur stand,
Their jeweled leaves a canopy of light,
A whispered song of nature’s gentle hand,
That weaves through day and cradles soft the night.
Each bough a brushstroke, verdant, bold, and free,
In sunlight’s glow, they shimmer like the sea,
A tide of green where shadows dance and play,
A living art no mortal could decree.
Their roots entwine the earth in deep embrace,
A timeless bond through seasons’ ceaseless flight,
They hold the wind, the rain, the sky’s wide grace,
And gift the world a canopy of might.
Oh, emerald trees, your beauty reigns so grand,
All praise to God, who shaped you by His hand.
