The poem celebrates God’s triumphant call to holiness, ringing out with the command “Be holy, for I am holy.” It rejoices in the saints’ victorious journey, their spirits ablaze with divine grace as they rise above weakness to reflect His radiant purity. With exultant steps, they follow His flawless light, conquering sin and claiming a sanctified path to mirror His sacred heart in joyous triumph.

A anthem rings through heaven’s boundless dome,
“Be holy, for I am,” the Savior cries,
With joy the saints arise from earthly loam,
Their spirits soar where victory never dies.
No chains of dust can dim their radiant cheer,
His holy fire ignites their hearts to sing,
Through every storm, his grace a banner clear,
They dance the path where freedom’s echoes ring.
He leads in triumph, pure and undefiled,
A king who crowns their souls with light divine,
Each step a shout, each trial now beguiled,
In holiness their lives with his entwine.
For he is holy, conqueror supreme,
And saints rejoice in his eternal gleam.

The Tower of Babel’s Lesson in Tongues: A Poetic Journey Through Unity in Error, Divine Intervention, and the Redemptive Power of Truthful Division by Debbie Harris

The sonnet, titled “The Tower of Babel’s Lesson in Tongues: A Poetic Journey Through Unity in Error, Divine Intervention, and the Redemptive Power of Truthful Division”, retells the biblical story of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9). It describes how humanity, unified by a single language, built a tower out of pride to make a name for themselves, defying God’s will. God intervened by scattering their languages, halting their project and dividing them. The poem reflects on the moral lesson that unity in error is dangerous, while division by truth is preferable. It notes that no one stood up for God during the event, highlighting a collective failure. The sonnet concludes with a call to action: as God’s people today, we must stand for truth, even when it’s unpopular, learning from Babel’s mistake to uphold divine will where they went wrong.

The structure is a Shakespearean sonnet (14 lines, ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme, iambic pentameter), with the final couplet emphasizing the duty to rise for truth despite its challenges.

In Babel’s plain, where unity did rise,
A tower built with hands of mortal pride,
Against the will of God, their voices cried,
A single tongue beneath the endless skies.

Yet unity, though strong, can lead astray,
When error binds the hearts of humankind,
The Lord, in wisdom, scattered every mind,
And languages in chaos held their sway.

Divided now by truth, the tribes did roam,
Each seeking light where once they sought a name,
The error fell, consumed by heaven’s flame,
And better thus, to stand apart than roam.

No soul stood firm for God amidst the throng,
Yet we, His own, must rise where they went wrong.

O sovereign King, enthroned in boundless might,
Whose glory gilds the heavens’ vast domain,
In radiant power, Your saints’ eternal light—
Come, Lord Jesus, swiftly now to reign!

With thunder’s call, the skies in splendor break,
Your heirs from wrath’s deep shadow You release,
All worlds bow low, Your holy name awake—
Come quickly, Christ, in triumph and in peace!

Sonnet: The Lord Jesus Christ’s Call to Treasures of Victory and Peace in the Holy Bible’s Inerrant Truth by Debbie Harris

The sonnet, titled “The Lord Jesus Christ’s Call to Treasures of Victory and Peace in the Holy Bible’s Inerrant Truth,” contrasts the fleeting, deceptive words of humanity with the enduring, precious truth of God’s Word. It portrays Christ’s voice as a divine call, rich with treasures—diamonds, rubies, pearls, and emeralds—guiding the heart away from the shallow allure of worldly praise. While human acclaim fades like mist, the Holy Bible stands as an unwavering source of victory, comfort, and peace, illuminating a path through life’s darkness with its inerrant truth.

Let whispers gleam like diamonds from on high,
To guide the heart where mortal tongues deceive,
Their fleeting noise, though loud, shall dim and die,
While God’s bright rubies endless worth achieve.
The crowd may boast, with tinsel-glitter call,
Yet frail their shine, like dew on morning’s breath,
His voice, a pearl, outshines their shallow thrall,
An emerald glow that conquers sin and death.
For man’s acclaim, a bauble swayed by gust,
Fades fast as mist beneath the tempest’s might,
But Scripture’s wealth, in stillness, holds our trust,
A jewel-lit path through darkness into light.
And find thy victory, comfort, peace to claim,
In Holy Bible’s truth, not man’s acclaim.

There is no greater
beauty, mercy, grace,
and love-soaked phrase
than “where sin abounds,
grace doth more abound!”

This truth alone
should spark ceaseless
adoration and jubilation!
Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice—
His grace is always greater!

As Far As The East Is From The West by Debbie Harris

The sonnet reflects God’s immense mercy, as He refrains from punishing us according to our sins and instead offers boundless grace to those who revere Him. His love towers like the heavens above the earth, and He removes our transgressions infinitely far—east to west—cleansing humanity’s guilt and granting redemption, a divine bridge from earthly flaws to heavenly glory.

The Lord withholds the wrath our sins might claim,
His judgment soft, not matched to what we owe,
For mercy flows where guilt would carve its name,
A boundless grace on those who fear bestow.
As heavens stretch above the earthen floor,
So vast His love ascends beyond our sight,
To hearts that tremble at His holy door,
He grants reprieve from darkness into light.
From east to west, a span no map can trace,
He casts our trespasses to endless flight,
Removes the stain that once marred Adam’s race,
And clothes us new in robes of purest white.
Thus, infinite His pardon, freely given,
A bridge from dust to glory’s gate in heaven.

A Sonnet on Modern Christians as Tableaux Vivants, Living Masterpieces for the Glory and Honor of the Divine Preeminent Artist, Jesus Christ by Debbie Harris

The sonnet, titled A Sonnet on Modern Christians as Tableaux Vivants Crafting Living Masterpieces for the Glory and Honor of the Divine Artist, portrays modern Christians as living artworks akin to “tableaux vivants”—a term meaning “living pictures,” where performers pose to recreate scenes. Here, it’s a metaphor: their lives are dynamic canvases, not static poses, painted with faith through every breath. They bloom through trials like roses, embedding God’s grace in their hearts. Their days form a gallery of vibrant devotion, each action a hymn to eternity. With humility, they offer joys and sorrows, their worship unbound, testifying to God’s glory. Ultimately, they proclaim the Divine Artist’s honor, their every moment a masterpiece reflecting His glory!

In every breath, a canvas they compose,
These saints of now, with lives as vivid art,
Through trials bloom like petals of the rose,
To paint God’s grace within each beating heart.
Their days, a gallery of faith unfurled,
No static pose, but motion bold and free,
A masterpiece to shine upon the world,
Each stroke a hymn to His eternity.
With humble hands, they lift their joys on high,
And sorrows too, as offerings sincere,
No frame confines their worship’s boundless cry,
Their lives, a testament to glory’s claim.
So modern souls, in living scenes, proclaim,
The Artist’s honor through their every frame.

Biblically Sourced Art, Royally Redeemed

This 14-line sonnet, in iambic pentameter with an ABAB rhyme, celebrates Carlo Dolci’s Virgin and Child (circa 1646–1649) at Bob Jones University Museum & Gallery. The first quatrain paints the Virgin in an orange robe like glowing embers, her coral cheeks and golden halo radiating warmth and reverence. The second quatrain presents the Child, human flesh yet divine King, with amber curls, lifted high by her on an olive green pillow—verdant and throne-like. The third quatrain zooms in on that pillow, deep with garden echoes, fringed with golden tassels, cradling Him as a subtle prophecy of the cross. The final couplet ties it to Dolci’s 1640s artistry, where her love enshrines the Child as God’s chosen Son, blending peace and redemption.

Her robe, an orange flame, like embers gleams,
A silken glow that wraps the Virgin’s form,
Her coral cheeks alight with tender dreams,
A golden halo crowns her spirit warm.
The Child, in flesh yet born to reign as King,
His amber curls cascade in soft delight,
She lifts Him high where Heaven’s praises sing,
On olive green, a throne of verdant might.

Gold tassels gleam, a dance of royal grace,
The pillow deep with garden’s whispered lore,
Holds up His frame, a hint of future’s trace,
A cross to come, His love forevermore.
In sixteen-forties’ stroke, this piece was spun,

The sonnet laments Christ’s exile from public influence, portraying a world where “sin” fades from awareness and “Christian” grows vague and diluted. It warns of liberalism, progressivism, humanism, and evolution as cunning forces that draw souls from God’s grace into peril. Yet, it concludes with the Cross as an unshaken light, offering redemption to those lost i. The storm’

When Christ departs the square where once He reigned,
The word of “sin” dissolves in silent air,
A hollow shell of “Christian” now remains,
Its meaning stretched, a garment none repair.
The liberal mind exalts its fleeting throne,
Progression bends the truth to mortal whim,
While humanism carves its heart of stone,
And evolution chants a godless hymn.
These doctrines, forged in shadows deep below,
Seduce the soul with whispers soft and sly,
To turn from grace where living waters flow,
And bind the heart where endless fires lie.
Yet still the Cross stands firm through storm and strife,
A beacon calling souls to endless life.

The poem captures Jesus’ zeal in overturning tables, showing a fierce stand against antisemitic sin. With righteous anger like Christ’s, it rejects festering hate, aiming to purge it in a bold, defiant act of moral clarity.

With zeal like Christ, I flip the tables high,
To cast out hate that festers dark and grim,
The antisemitic sin shall not abide,
In righteous wrath, I mirror Him.
