The sonnet, titled “Through Christ’s Own Word, the Heavens’ Glory Flows”, is a poetic celebration of the night sky as a creation of Jesus, reflecting His divine power and love. It opens with a vivid depiction of the starry heavens, where each star is “a diamond sparked by Christ’s own speech,” directly referencing John 1:3 (“Through him all things were made”) and Genesis 1:3 (“And God said, ‘Let there be light’”), emphasizing Jesus as the Word (Logos) through whom creation came to be. The line “Where Word divine decreed what splendor knows” further echoes this, portraying Jesus’ voice as the sovereign act that birthed the cosmos’ beauty. The moon’s radiant light over mountainsides and hills, paired with the Milky Way’s flow through “celestial wonder,” illustrates the grandeur of His handiwork, while “His boundless love in radiant glory grows” suggests a creation infused with divine affection, resonating with Colossians 1:16-17 (“For in him all things were created… and in him all things hold together”). The poem concludes with the night sky as a revelation of Jesus’ glory, unfurling as a testament to His artistry, tying back to Psalm 19:1 (“The heavens declare the glory of God”). This sonnet thus marries rich imagery with biblical truth, presenting Jesus as the Creator whose spoken word shapes a night of awe and wonder.

Beneath the vault of heaven’s boundless sweep,
A tapestry of stars in silence glows,
Each gleam a diamond sparked by Christ’s own speech,
Where Word divine decreed what splendor knows.
The moon, a silver jewel, softly spills
Its radiant light o’er mountainsides and hills,
While shadows sway in night’s embrace so still,
A sacred hymn to hearts in quiet thrills.
The Milky Way, a river spun of light,
Through endless realms of celestial wonder flows,
Its currents weave a dream of pure delight,
His boundless love in radiant glory grows.
In every spark, His artistry takes flight,
The night unfurls—His glory to disclose.

The Agony of False Witness and the Triumph of Christ’s Justice In Scripture and In Life by Debbie Harris

The poem “The Agony of False Witness and the Triumph of Christ’s Justice In Scripture and In Life” vividly captures the torment of slander, painting it as a “shroud of lies” falling like raven’s wings and venom spat from once-trusted tongues. It draws from Joseph, trapped in spite’s unyielding rings (Genesis 39:7-20), where he fled a lustful snare with a sincere heart, only to be bound by iron chains as falsehood’s chill shadow smothered his name in a dungeon’s night—yet God intended it for good (Genesis 50:20). Similarly, Daniel faced a den of jealous foes whose hate, sharp as knives, forged deceit in dark gloom (Daniel 6:4-23), his silent prayer and steady faith defying their malice until God’s angel shut the lions’ mouths (Daniel 6:22). The just, echoing Christ who bore false witnesses in silence (Matthew 26:59-60, Isaiah 53:7), endure scornful cries, their pleas rising where human justice bends. Yet heavens roar with a pledge that never dies (Psalm 89:14), as God’s righteous gaze upends the storm of lies, striking down falsehood with a reaping none can outrun (Galatians 6:7-8). Through fierce anguish, all threads of pain entwine (Romans 8:28), each cruel deceit blooming grace by sovereign will, until Christ’s strong arm grinds down the wicked’s web of scorn, robing the just in honor’s gleaming thread (Revelation 19:8), a shield of glory lifting them high (Psalm 3:3). Thus, the poem affirms Christ’s justice triumphs, weaving suffering into redemption both in Scripture’s tales and life’s ongoing weave.

Crafted in six quatrains with an ABAB rhyme scheme, the poem expands beyond a sonnet’s 14-line constraint to 24 lines, allowing a broader canvas for its biblical tapestry. This form mirrors the narrative’s progression—from the visceral sting of accusation, through steadfast endurance, to thunderous justice and radiant triumph—each stanza a stepping stone in an escalating arc. The consistent rhyme binds the vivid imagery—raven’s wings, iron chains, thunder’s might—into a rhythmic pulse, echoing the relentless march of divine purpose. While rooted in Shakespearean tradition, its length and stanzaic breaks offer flexibility, letting Joseph’s chains, Daniel’s den, and Christ’s wounds breathe fully, culminating in a resounding close that marries justice and grace.

A shroud of lies falls thick like raven’s wings,
A venom spat from tongues once vowed to trust,
Like Joseph, trapped in spite’s unyielding rings,
Truth writhes beneath her claws of bitter dust.

Her lustful snare he fled with heart sincere,
Yet iron chains embraced his guiltless frame,
In dungeon’s night, where hope turned stone with fear,
Falsehood’s chill shadow smothered his good name.

As Daniel faced the den with jealous foes,
Their hate, like knives, was honed in dark deceit,
Through lions’ gloom, his prayer in silence rose,
Faith’s steady flame defied their vile conceit.

The just, like Christ, bear wounds of scornful cries,
Their pleas climb high where human justice bends,
Yet heavens roar, a pledge that never dies,
God’s righteous gaze the storm of lies upends.

Though slander’s gusts tear peace with thunder’s might,
And wicked tongues weave chaos sharp and shrill,
The Lord of all turns darkness into light,
Each cruel deceit blooms grace by sovereign will.

Through anguish fierce, all threads of pain entwine,
The reaping strikes, no falsehood can outrun,
Till Christ’s strong arm grinds down their web of scorn,
And robes the just in honor’s gleaming thread.

The poem, titled “A Villanelle: The Majestic and Holy Throne Room of God Most High as Revealed in Revelation,” is a villanelle that vividly portrays the awe-inspiring scene of God’s throne room as described in Revelation 4. It depicts a radiant, gleaming throne surrounded by a rainbow and a sea of glass, where elders cast down their crowns and four living creatures proclaim “Holy, Holy.” The poem emphasizes the eternal worship and glory of God, with the Lamb and King reigning in undimmable light. Heaven resounds with a ceaseless hymn of praise, reflecting the majesty, holiness, and grace that fill the hearts of the redeemed before the divine throne.

Before the throne, a radiant gleam
The elders bow, their crowns cast down
All heaven sings the holy theme

A rainbow arcs, a living beam
Encircles glory, pure, profound
Before the throne, a radiant gleam

The sea of glass, a crystal stream
Reflects the One who wears the crown
All heaven sings the holy theme

Four creatures cry, their voices teem
With “Holy, Holy,” all around
Before the throne, a radiant gleam

No night can dim this sacred dream
The Lamb and King in light are gowned
All heaven sings the holy theme

Eternal praise, a ceaseless stream
Fills every heart, by grace unbound
Before the throne, a radiant gleam
All heaven sings the holy theme

The Infinite Grace of Christ Bestowed Upon His Redeemed: A Symphony of Grace’s Facets in Ten Sonnets

Sonnet I: The Divine Grace of Christ’s Redemption

From Christ the source, a grace to us descends,
His redeemed bear this gift through mortal care,
A light He gives, through them His love extends,
To souls renewed by His eternal prayer.
No deed can earn this flow, yet through His own,
The chosen shine with mercy like the dawn,
His boundless love through us is brightly shown,
A force that lifts where hearts were once withdrawn.
Though sin once bound, Christ’s grace sets spirits free,
Redeemed, we share His song through every land,
A holy stream from Him through you and me,
Bestowed by Jesus’ ever-giving hand.
Thus grace divine through Christ to us is sent,
And through His flock, His love is broadly spent.

Sonnet II: The Grace of Human Kindness Through Christ

From Christ the fount, His grace to us does pour,
Redeemed, we stretch our hands to ease a load,
His kindness flows through saints to rich and poor,
A warmth He plants in hearts along life’s road.
Through us His love seeks naught for its return,
The Savior’s gift reflected in our care,
His gentle strength through faithful ones does burn,
To sow His hope where sorrow lingered there.
When rage would rule, Christ’s grace in us turns strife,
A lantern lit through those He calls His own,
His peace we bear to mend a broken life,
Through us His seed of mercy gently grown.
So kindness flows from Jesus to His throng,
Redeemed, we share His grace where we belong.

Sonnet III: The Grace of Steadfastness Under Pressure

When storms arise, Christ’s grace to us holds fast,
Redeemed, we stand unmoved amid the gale,
His strength through us endures till trials pass,
A calm from Him where fears would else prevail.
The chaos roars, yet Jesus’ peace we wield,
Through His elect, His poise defies the fray,
A steady heart His Spirit has revealed,
To bear His might through dark and dire day.
In tempest’s grip, Christ’s grace through us remains,
Redeemed, we bend but never break apart,
His courage flows where mortal strength wanes,
A rock within each storm-tossed, faithful heart.
Thus grace from Christ equips us for the fight,
Through us His calm shines forth in darkest night.

Sonnet IV: The Grace of Forgiveness From Christ’s Mercy

From Christ the well, His grace to us forgives,
Redeemed, we loose the chains of bitter years,
His mercy flows through souls He bids to live,
To dry with love the flood of vengeful tears.
No grudge we hold, for Jesus sets us free,
Through us His pardon heals what wrath has torn,
His gentle tide remakes what strife would be,
A peace from Him in hearts anew reborn.
When pride demands its due, Christ’s grace we share,
Redeemed, we offer what He first bestowed,
His light through us turns dark to hope so fair,
A gift of love along forgiveness’ road.
So grace from Christ through us does sin unwind,
His mercy lives in every heart aligned.

Sonnet V: The Grace of Beauty Inspired by Christ

Through Christ, His grace adorns the world we see,
Redeemed, we craft with beauty from His hand,
His artistry flows forth in you and me,
A quiet charm His chosen understand.
The dancer’s grace, the painter’s tender stroke,
Reflect His light through those He calls to shine,
A vision pure His Spirit does invoke,
Through us His beauty echoes the divine.
No boast it bears, Christ’s stillness fills our art,
Redeemed, we calm the clamor with His peace,
His hymn through us bids souls to pause and start,
A lovely gift His faithful ones release.
Thus beauty’s grace from Jesus we display,
Through us His splendor brightens every day.

Sonnet VI: The Grace of Resilience Through Christ’s Strength

From Christ the rock, His grace upholds our frame,
Redeemed, we rise though life’s fierce blows descend,
His strength through us turns loss to holy flame,
A hope He gives that trials cannot bend.
The storm may rage, yet Jesus’ might we bear,
Through His elect, we stand when winds assail,
His grace sustains where ruin would impair,
A steadfast will through us that shall prevail.
No cry of woe, Christ’s power makes us whole,
Redeemed, we carve His path through stone and strife,
His healing flows to mend the weary soul,
A fire from Him that fuels eternal life.
So grace through us from Jesus does endure,
His strength in weakness keeps His saints secure.

Sonnet VII: The Grace of Humility From Christ’s Meekness

From Christ the meek, His grace to us is low,
Redeemed, we shun the pride that crowns the vain,
His quiet way through us begins to grow,
A humble strength His chosen ones sustain.
No fame we seek, for Jesus bids us still,
Through us His calm walks soft upon the earth,
His silent love our actions gently fill,
A wealth from Him in meekness given birth.
When pomp would rise, Christ’s grace in us retreats,
Redeemed, we bow where arrogance would soar,
His patience flows through hearts He softly meets,
A truth His flock alone can well explore.
So grace from Christ through us brings wisdom’s crown,
His lowly path in us comes shining down.

Sonnet VIII: The Grace of Sacrifice From Christ’s Cross

Through Christ, His cross pours grace to those He saves,
Redeemed, we give as He gave all for us,
His love through saints defies the darkest graves,
A selfless call His faithful ones discuss.
No gain we seek, for Jesus paid the price,
Through us His gift lifts others from their fall,
His heart we share in every sacrifice,
A strength from Him that answers every call.
When self would cling, Christ’s grace in us prevails,
Redeemed, we bear His cost to set men free,
His light through us shines forth where darkness fails,
A love He plants in our humility.
Thus grace from Christ through us is glory’s vein,
His loss our gain, His life our endless gain.

Sonnet IX: The Grace of Redemption Through Christ’s Salvation

From Christ the Lamb, His grace redeems our soul,
Redeemed, we rise from ashes He has claimed,
His mercy flows through us to make us whole,
A hope through saints where sin was once proclaimed.
The chains of old, through Jesus, fall away,
His tide of love through us renews the slate,
His voice we bear to brighten ruined day,
A path His light through chosen ones create.
No fault too vast for Christ to mend through us,
Redeemed, we call the lost to rise anew,
His lesson lives where grace becomes our trust,
A love from Him that time cannot undo.
So grace through us from Jesus brings new birth,
His saving power frees us from sin’s dearth.

Sonnet X: The Victorious Grace Where Sin Abounds Through Christ

Where sin abounds, Christ’s grace through us cascades,
Redeemed, we wield His might in joyous throng,
From Jesus springs a power that invades,
A royal cheer to rout sin’s fleeting song.
No depth can dim His light that blazes free,
Through saints His love ignites the darkest vale,
His victory reigns where chains once held decree,
A crown of joy His chosen ones unveil.
When sin would roar, Christ’s grace in us ascends,
Redeemed, we sing with banners lifted high,
His mercy swells, a tide that never ends,
A kingly shout where guilt and shadows fly.
So grace from Christ through us in triumph rings,
His boundless reign lifts hearts on soaring wings.

Title: “A Sonnet of Spring’s Awakening, Where the Eternal King Weaves Wonders in His Royal Heirs for Mighty Exploits”

This sonnet celebrates the transformative power of God, depicted as an eternal King who ushers in a spiritual spring, renewing the soul with vibrant imagery of blooming flowers (lilacs, daffodils, jasmine, roses, tulips) and flowing rivers. It portrays God’s royal authority awakening wonders within the speaker and His people, who, as royal heirs, rise to perform mighty deeds. The poem intertwines natural rebirth with divine empowerment, culminating in a triumphant declaration of God’s reign soaring through His chosen ones.

Bible References

  1. Daniel 11:32 – “But the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”
  • This verse directly inspires the theme of “mighty exploits” performed by those who know God, reflected in the second quatrain where the heirs “ascend” and their deeds “bloom like roses.”
  1. Psalm 104:30 – “When You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth.”
  • The imagery of spring’s renewal and God’s breath unfurling life (e.g., “Your royal breath unfurls a jasmine sea”) echoes this idea of divine creation and rejuvenation.
  1. Revelation 1:6 – “And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
  • The concept of believers as “royal heirs” with regal might ties to this passage, emphasizing our shared royalty with Christ, as seen in the poem’s focus on being “robed in You” and crowned by God.
  1. Isaiah 43:19 – “Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
  • The line “a river leaps from stone, a living spring” reflects this promise of new beginnings and miraculous transformation, paralleling spring’s awakening in the sonnet.
  1. Psalm 45:1-2 – “My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King… You are fairer than the sons of men; grace is poured upon Your lips.”
  • The sonnet’s praise of the “eternal Sire” and the fragrant, regal imagery (e.g., “purple sceptres high”) resonate with this poetic exultation of the King’s beauty and authority.

A throne of spring ascends o’er shattered frost,
Where lilacs blaze with purple sceptres high,
In me, O King, weave wonders none exhaust,
My spirit crowned beneath Your fragrant sky.

Through golden tides of daffodils that bend,
Your royal breath unfurls a jasmine sea,
We, robed in You, with regal might ascend,
Our exploits bloom like roses, wild and free.

The tulip fields bow low to Your command,
A kingdom’s pulse where petals softly sing,
In us, Your heirs, Your sovereign hand expands,
A river leaps from stone, a living spring.

Lord, fuse my heart to Yours, eternal Sire,
Through us, Your royal heirs, Your reign shall soar.

The sonnet portrays Christ as an ever-present, cherished companion who offers guidance, peace, and strength. It describes Him as a serene presence in both calm and turbulent times, calming the heart and lifting burdens. More valuable than worldly treasures, He walks alongside us, a constant source of love and support, dispelling fear and sharing in our joys and sorrows throughout life’s journey.

In quiet hours when shadows softly fall,
A presence lingers near, serene and bright,
Through storm and stillness, answering each call,
A guide to lead us gently through the night.

His voice, a whisper on the winds of grace,
Doth calm the heart when tempests rage within,
A friend unseen, yet known in every place,
Who bears our burdens, frees us from our sin.

More precious far than gold or fleeting fame,
He walks beside us on this earthly road,
A constant flame, forevermore the same,
To share our joys and lighten every load.

O Christ, our truest companion, ever near,
Thy love sustains us, casting out all fear.

Living As If Jesus Were Returning: Sonnets of Expectant Faith is a collection of ten Shakespearean sonnets, each a vibrant call to live with the imminent hope of Christ’s return. Written in iambic pentameter with an ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme, the series portrays faithful souls—redeemed and expectant—embodying Jesus’ teachings as if He might appear at any moment. Sonnet I: The Watcher begins with a vigilant soul scanning the skies, followed by Sonnet II: The Servant serving others with urgency, Sonnet III: The Prayer lifting fervent pleas, and Sonnet IV: The Giver sharing all with heaven in view. Sonnet V: The Proclaimer boldly spreads the gospel, while Sonnet VI: The Peacemaker heals rifts, and Sonnet VII: The Laborer works diligently for Christ. Sonnet VIII: The Penitent repents daily, Sonnet IX: The Lover pours out love like Jesus, and Sonnet X: The Waiter stands ready in longing. Each sonnet shifts at the volta from worldly distraction to eternal focus, concluding with a couplet affirming Christ’s nearness, together weaving a poetic testament to living faithfully in anticipation of His glorious return.

Sonnet I: The Watcher
The dawn breaks soft, yet swift my gaze ascends,
For Christ may rend the heavens any morn,
I watch the clouds, where mortal time suspends,
His promise gleams, my soul anew reborn.
The world may sleep, its cares a fleeting chase,
But I abide, my vigil ever keen,
Each rustling wind might bear His holy face,
A royal hope in all that I’ve foreseen.
The scoffer laughs, “Thy wait is but a jest,”
Yet faith holds firm, my heart a steady flame,
Through every hour, His coming I attest,
An heir awake to call His sacred name.
So here I stand, my eyes on high unfurled,
Living as if my Savior claims the world.

Sonnet II: The Servant
The day unfolds, my hands to others lend,
For Christ may call ere twilight stains the sky,
I serve the least, their burdens I befriend,
His love through me till trumpets sound on high.
The proud may hoard, their wealth a hollow boast,
But I pour out, my time a fleeting gift,
Each act of care a thread in heaven’s host,
A royal task my spirit dares to lift.
The world may spurn the meek with cold disdain,
Yet I, a servant, mirror Christ’s own way,
Through selfless deeds, His kingdom shall remain,
An heir prepared for that unyielding day.
So still I toil, my heart in service bent,
Living as if His reign is imminent.

Sonnet III: The Prayer
The silence hums, my knees to earth descend,
For Christ may break the stars with sudden might,
I lift my voice, my soul to Him I send,
His ear my hope through every fleeting night.
The world may rush, its noise a ceaseless din,
But I retreat, my pleas a fervent stream,
Each whispered word a shield against the sin,
A royal cry to greet my coming King.
The faithless mock, “Thy prayers fade unheard,”
Yet I, a prayer, feel peace within my core,
Through every plea, His promise is assured,
An heir attuned to glory’s open door.
So here I kneel, my spirit’s watch unfazed,
Living as if His name shall soon be praised.

Sonnet IV: The Giver
The morn brings light, my store I freely share,
For Christ may come ere shadows stretch too long,
I give my all, no wealth do I forswear,
His bounty mine till heaven’s final song.
The greedy clutch, their gold a fleeting crown,
But I release, my hands an open gate,
Each coin bestowed, a seed in sacred ground,
A royal trust before it grows too late.
The world may hoard, its riches cold and vain,
Yet I, a giver, seek a higher store,
Through open palms, His mercy shall sustain,
An heir who knows what lasts forevermore.
So still I pour, my gifts a joyful flight,
Living as if His dawn shall split the night.

Sonnet V: The Proclaimer
The streets awake, my tongue shall not be stilled,
For Christ may ride the clouds ere day is done,
I shout His truth, my voice with zeal is filled,
His gospel bold till all the lost are won.
The world may sneer, “Thy words a fool’s refrain,”
But I press on, my call a clarion cry,
Each soul I reach, a link in heaven’s chain,
A royal charge beneath an open sky.
The timid shrink, their silence cloaks their fear,
Yet I, proclaimer, bear His news with might,
Through scorn and doubt, His coming draweth near,
An heir aflame with everlasting light.
So here I speak, my heart a burning brand,
Living as if His throne is close at hand.

Sonnet VI: The Peacemaker
The discord rings, my voice seeks calm to sow,
For Christ may split the heavens any hour,
I mend the breach, His peace I strive to show,
His love my bridge till judgment’s final power.
The world delights in strife, a bitter game,
But I extend my hand, a gentle plea,
Each rift I heal, a whisper of His name,
A royal balm for all eternity.
The wrathful clash, their anger blinds their sight,
Yet I, peacemaker, weave His tranquil thread,
Through every wrong, His grace shall set aright,
An heir who lives as though the end were sped.
So still I bind, my soul in concord dressed,
Living as if His reign shall soon be blest.

Sonnet VII: The Laborer
The task begins, my sweat a sacred rite,
For Christ may call before my work is through,
I toil with zeal, my hands in His delight,
His will my aim in all I strive to do.
The world may slack, its labor idly spent,
But I press on, my craft a holy care,
Each deed I shape, a testament unbent,
A royal mark for Him I long to bear.
The careless drift, their purpose lost to ease,
Yet I, a laborer, serve with fervent soul,
Through every chore, His glory I appease,
An heir who works as if the skies unroll.
So here I strive, my effort’s steady flame,
Living as if He comes to call my name.

Sonnet VIII: The Penitent
The heart grows still, my sins I humbly lay,
For Christ may rend the veil ere night descends,
I seek His face, my guilt I cast away,
His mercy flows where brokenness amends.
The world may strut, its pride a fleeting crown,
But I confess, my soul in dust reclines,
Each tear a plea, His pardon I have found,
A royal grace through all my flawed designs.
The bold may boast, their faults they will not see,
Yet I, a penitent, bow low in shame,
Through every fault, His love redeems the free,
An heir cleansed pure before His holy flame.
So here I kneel, my spirit’s slate made clean,
Living as if His judgment intervenes.

Sonnet IX: The Lover
The day is bright, my heart to all outpoured,
For Christ may come ere evening shadows fall,
I love with might, His passion my reward,
His boundless care my anthem and my call.
The world grows cold, its bonds a shallow tie,
But I embrace, my soul a fervent stream,
Each soul I hold, a glimpse of Him on high,
A royal love in every waking dream.
The selfish hoard, their hearts a barren plain,
Yet I, a lover, mirror Christ’s own way,
Through every touch, His warmth shall still remain,
An heir who lives as if it’s judgment day.
So here I give, my love a ceaseless tide,
Living as if my King is by my side.

Sonnet X: The Waiter
The dusk draws near, my soul in stillness stands,
For Christ may break the silence with His cry,
I wait with hope, my life within His hands,
His promised dawn my spirit’s lifted eye.
The world may chase its fleeting joys below,
But I hold fast, my watch a patient art,
Each fleeting breath, His coming I bestow,
A royal trust deep rooted in my heart.
The faithless drift, their dreams a fading gleam,
Yet I, a waiter, long for heaven’s sound,
Through twilight’s hush, His glory reigns supreme,
An heir prepared where grace shall yet abound.
So here I pause, my longing pure and strong,
Living as if His reign shall not be long.

The poem is a Shakespearean sonnet titled “The Joy of a Shepherd-King Whose Friendship Crowns My Days with Grace”. It celebrates the privilege of a personal relationship with Christ, portraying Him as a majestic King who reigns with might, a tender Shepherd who guides with care, and a steadfast Friend who uplifts with joy. Across three quatrains, it traces a journey from quiet intimacy—where Christ stoops to comfort and guide—to a triumphant crescendo, where His friendship bestows victory and grace. The final couplet affirms the speaker’s exalted rise, hand-in-hand with this multifaceted Savior, blending awe, tenderness, and celebration in iambic pentameter with an ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme.

A spark ignites the stillness of my days,
Christ reigns as King yet stoops to hear my plea,
A Shepherd’s tender hand guides all my ways,
His royal grace wipes every tear from me.

Through tangled thorns and meadows green I roam,
A Friend beside me walks in steadfast cheer,
His crown of glory lights my heart’s true home,
His love divine draws ever soft and near.

This King above who rules with boundless might,
Yet tends my soul with care so pure and deep,
Bestows a joy that lifts me to His sight,
His friendship crowns my days with vict’ry sweet.

In tender reign, my Shepherd-King so grand,
I rise with Him, clasped firm in friendship’s hand.

His Love Descends to Grant Eternal Life, Giving His Son that Repentant Souls Be Born Anew by Debbie Harris

The sonnet is inspired by John 3:16 (KJV), “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” weaving in the necessity of repentance and being born again. It portrays a love so vast that the heavens gleam, with God offering His Son as a radiant star to pierce humanity’s sinful night. This gift, a crimson tide of sacrifice, cleanses the world’s rebel stains, opening a gate to eternal life for those who repent and believe. Through turning from sin, souls are reborn, their guilt cast aside, and they rise as royal heirs through the cross—a throne of splendid beams. Faith and contrition unlock heaven’s door, fulfilling God’s decree of salvation displayed in flesh, where His love and human change redeem a broken world, granting everlasting life.

A love so vast, the heavens bend and gleam,
He gave His Son, one star to pierce the night,
That those who turn from sin might join His stream,
And, born anew, ascend to endless light.
The world He loved, though stained by rebel’s fall,
Through crimson tide, His only heir was spent,
Repentance clears the soul’s once-darkened hall,
A gate to life where grace and mercy bent.
No heart shall sink that casts its guilt aside,
The cross a throne, its beams of splendor soar,
Belief and tears remake what sin denied,
A royal birth through heaven’s open door.
So God ordained, His heart in flesh unfurled,
By love and change, He saves a broken world.

As Poets Wrote, His Royal Voice Proclaims Our Crown, Robing Us in Gold and Gems of Endless Splendour by Debbie Harris

The sonnet draws from Acts 17:28 (KJV), “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring,” to envision the Savior’s majestic affirmation of humanity’s divine origin. It begins with the poets’ written wisdom—bold declarations that we exist and thrive in Him—elevated by His triumphant voice, likened to a trumpet splitting a sapphire tide. This voice robes the redeemed in regal splendor: garments woven from molten stars with golden rivers and silver threads of moonlight, dyed in deep purple as rich as amethyst, and adorned with blazing rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds. These gem-strewn robes, unfurling like banners, proclaim their noble status as His offspring, forged in celestial fire and crowned in joy. His scepter resounds with the poets’ ancient hymns, affirming that in Him, they shine eternally as His richly crowned heirs, their glory a testament to His boundless design.

As certain of your poets boldly cried,
“In Him we soar, His blood our golden vein,”
His voice, a trumpet, splits the sapphire tide,
And robes us all in splendor’s royal reign.
From molten stars He weaves our noble frame,
With silver threads like moonlight’s frozen gleam,
In purple deep as amethyst’s acclaim,
Gold rivers flow, His joy our endless theme.
Rubies blaze, and sapphires crown the fold,
Emeralds dance with diamond’s radiant might,
These gem-strewn robes, His banners to behold,
Enwrap our forms in heaven’s jeweled light.
His scepter rings, their ancient hymns resound,
In Him we shine, His offspring richly crowned.
