No fault too deep, no shadow cast too wide,
To flee the reach of love’s redeeming art;
Thy cross, O Christ, where mercy’s arms abide,
Outstrips the weight of each repentant heart.
Through tangled thorns of guilt, Thy steps pursue,
Each stumbling soul Thy gentle eyes behold;
No sin’s dark stain can dim Thy light’s breakthrough,
Nor chill the warmth Thy wounded hands unfold.
The cross arises, mightier than despair,
Its timbers bridge the chasm of our fall;
In broken bread, Thy grace beyond compare,
Restores the lost to answer love’s sweet call.
O Shepherd-King, Thy cross our hope sustains,
No error bars the peace Thy love ordains.
