Oh, what exuberance fills the soul,
A heart made blameless, pure, and whole,
In Christ our King, we stand so tall,
Righteousness cloaks us, one and all.

Perfect in His tender gaze,
Holy through His endless days,
Saints adorned in grace divine,
Ambassadors of love’s design.

Joint heirs with the Prince of Peace,
Royalty in whom all fears cease,
Sons and daughters, crowned with care,
Of the King beyond compare.

Undeserved, these titles gleam,
Wrought by blood, a sacred stream,
Royally redeemed we rise,
Echoing joy through endless skies.

The Throne’s Intercessor, Jesus Christ, Our Lord by Debbie Harris

The poem depicts Jesus Christ’s humble descent from divine glory to earthly dust, driven by a deep and just love. Through this condescension, He embraces humanity’s shame and sorrow, freeing the captives. Standing before God’s throne with scarred hands, He serves as our advocate, interceding with mercy and ultimately claiming us as His own in an act of eternal redemption.

From heights of endless light,
He stepped into the dust—
The condescension of Christ,
A love so deep, so just.

Divinity laid low,
To bear our broken plea,
He took our shame, our woe,
To set the captive free.

Before the throne He stands,
Our voice in mercy’s court,
With scarred and pleading hands,
He claims us as His own.

The hymn, structured in four quatrains with a recurring refrain, celebrates a lone bird singing in the darkest night. Its clear, free voice unveils the Savior’s light and glory, flowing as a divine anthem through shadows to awaken stars and stir the forest with love. A small herald on frail wings, the bird lifts hearts through grief and joy with a timeless song. The final stanza blesses its tune that hails the King, as earth and sky join in rapture, redeeming souls with peace. The refrain, sung after each stanza, lifts praise from night to dawn, affirming His ceaseless love and the song’s ascent to the throne, bringing eternal peace.

One bird sings out in darkest night,
A voice so clear and free,
Its song reveals our Savior’s light,
His glory all may see.
Refrain:
From night to dawn, we lift our praise,
His love shall never cease,
The song ascends to throne on high,
And brings eternal peace.

Through shadows deep, its anthem flows,
A trill of grace divine,
The stars awake, the forest knows,
His love in every line.
Refrain:
From night to dawn, we lift our praise,
His love shall never cease,
The song ascends to throne on high,
And brings eternal peace.

O herald small with wings so frail,
You lift our hearts to praise,
Through grief and joy your notes prevail,
A sound through endless days.
Refrain:
From night to dawn, we lift our praise,
His love shall never cease,
The song ascends to throne on high,
And brings eternal peace.

Blest be the tune that hails the King,
From night to dawn’s first gleam,
All earth and sky with rapture sing,
His peace our souls redeem.
Refrain:
From night to dawn, we lift our praise,
His love shall never cease,
The song ascends to throne on high,
And brings eternal peace.

The poem begins with a lone bird singing in the “black onyx of night,” its fragile song cutting through despair to proclaim that the glory of Jesus is everywhere. Across four stanzas, it expands into a vivid scene where the bird’s melody awakens the stars, stirs the silent trees standing as sentinels, and weaves through darkness with grace and cheer. The song lifts the soul from sorrow to divine heights, testifying to a sacred presence that endures despite the night’s heaviness. Nature and spirituality intertwine as the bird, undeterred by shadow, reveals a holy embrace that spans valleys and peaks, affirming that the divine is always near.

One lone bird singing in the black onyx of night,
A fragile trill piercing the shroud of despair,
Tells the world that the glory of Jesus is everywhere in sight,
A melody woven through the still, heavy air.

Beneath the vast canopy where shadows take flight,
The stars blink awake, like prayers softly sown,
Each note lifts the soul from the depths to the height,
A testament sung to a king on His throne.

The trees stand as sentinels, silent and tight,
Their branches a cradle for whispers of grace,
The bird, undeterred by the absence of light,
Proclaims in its chorus a sacred embrace.

Through valleys of sorrow, through peaks burning bright,
The song threads the darkness with ribbons of cheer,
One lone bird singing in the black onyx of night,
Reveals that the holy is always near.

The poem, titled “The Holy Hush of a Redeemed Spirit Crowned in Christ’s Eternal Joy,” explores the profound peace and joy of a soul redeemed by mercy. It depicts a journey of leaning into Christ’s unwavering love and strength, where fears fade, wounds heal, and sorrows lift under His care. Through vivid imagery—a quiet light, a whisper stronger than stone, a rising spirit—the sonnet conveys a sacred calm amidst life’s storms. It culminates in a triumphant vision of the soul, crowned and exalted, forever united with Christ in eternal joy.

The holy hush of mercy’s soul redeemed,
Leaning into Christ, whose love will hearts renew,
A rush of peace and joy fills every seam,
A quiet light where weary hearts renew.

The shadows fade beneath His tender care,
A whisper soft, yet mightier than stone,
The soul, once frail, now rises through the air,
In love’s embrace, no longer left alone.

Through storms that rage, His power holds me fast,
A sacred calm where fears dissolve and flee,
Each wound redeemed, each sorrow overcast,
By mercy’s hand, He lifts the spirit free.

The holy hush, a crown for hearts restored,
Exalts the soul with Christ forevermore.

A Sonnet on the Virtue of Resting in the Lord and Waiting Patiently for His Justice, as Inspired by Psalm 37:7 in the King James Version by Debbie Harris

The sonnet urges the reader to find peace and patience in God, trusting in His justice despite the temporary success of the wicked. It emphasizes that evil’s prosperity is fleeting, while faith and stillness in the Lord bring lasting strength and hope, culminating in divine light overcoming darkness in the end.

Rest thou in peace beneath the Lord’s great eye,
And wait with heart untroubled through the storm,
Though wicked men in wealth and power climb,
Their schemes like shadows twist in fleeting form.

Fret not thyself when evil seems to reign,
When prosp’rous hands devise their cunning art,
For time doth turn, and justice shall remain,
A quiet strength shall steady every heart.

The Lord doth see, His patience holds the key,
To still the soul amid the tempest’s roar,
In silence, faith shall bloom eternally,

And peace shall rise where anguish dwelt before.
So rest, dear soul, and trust His holy way,
For light shall break upon the final day.

A Prayer For Worthy Calling by Debbie Harris

The sonnet is a 14-line poem written in the Shakespearean style, reflecting a prayerful plea for spiritual growth and divine guidance, mirroring the themes of 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12. It begins with a request for God to make the speaker worthy of His calling and to help them live out their faith, despite fears of failure. The speaker asks God to fulfill their good intentions and faithful actions through His divine power, so that Jesus’ name may be glorified through their life. The poem acknowledges human frailty, emphasizing reliance on God’s strength and mercy to overcome trials. It concludes with a commitment to live by grace, trusting in Christ, and aiming to glorify Him in all things.

We lift our hearts in prayer, O Lord, to Thee,
That Thou wouldst make us worthy of Thy call,
With grace to stand, though oft we fear to fall,
And seek Thy will in all we strive to be.

Fulfill in us the good that faith has sown,
By power divine, let every deed take flight,
That in our lives Thy glory shines so bright,
And Jesus’ name through us be ever known.

Thy strength, O God, sustains our fragile frame,
When trials come, Thy mercy holds us fast,
We walk by faith, though shadows may be cast,
And trust Thy love will never be the same.

So may we live, by grace, in Christ our King,
To glorify His name in everything.

A Lament for a Corrupted Realm and the Praise of Those Who Seek God’s Will to Restore Our Nation To One Nation Under God by Debbie Harris

Woe stains the earth, a shadowed tide,
Where corruption festers, far and wide.
The halls of might, once built with pride,
Now crumble ‘neath a faith denied.

The greedy feast, the honest bleed,
A commonwealth choked by deed.
Oh, mourn the trust turned bitter seed,
A government lost to boundless need.

Yet hail the souls, unbowed, alight,
Who rise to wrong the faltered right.
With courage forged in endless night,
They wield their will, a beacon bright.

Through storms of scorn, their voices ring,
To mend the torn, to balm the sting.
Praise to the brave who dare to bring,
A spark of hope on tireless wing.

Alas, the grief, a nation’s scar,
Where corruption reigns both near and far.
Yet praise ascends where faithful are,
Who seek God’s will, our guiding star,
To heal the land, one nation’s plea,
Beneath His grace, in unity.
