The sonnet “The Eagle’s Ascent on Wings of Sacred Strength” poetically reflects Isaiah 40:31, portraying those who wait on the Lord as recipients of divine renewal. Beneath a vast sky, they offer patient prayers to Christ, their strength restored to rise like eagles on resilient wings. With quiet faith, they ascend beyond earthly struggles, running tirelessly and walking without weakness through life’s challenges. Rich with alliteration, the poem celebrates the enduring power and grace granted by God, culminating in an eternal uplift for the steadfast.

Beneath the boundless blue, they bide their time,
With patient pleas to Christ, the sovereign Lord,
Their weary wills, renewed by strength sublime,
Shall soar on sturdy wings that storms afford.

In quiet trust, they lean on holy might,
Their souls, uplifted, pierce the peaceful sky,
With fearless flight, they cleave the daunting height,
And rise refreshed where mortal cares deny.

Relentless, they shall run through rugged lands,
Not faltering, nor faint, their footsteps free,
With wondrous power from His guiding hands,
They’ll wander wide, defying frailty’s plea.

For those who wait, His grace shall gently lift,
A steadfast, sacred, everlasting gift.

The sonnet “Christ’s Radiant Triumph” portrays a spiritual battle where the enemy (Satan) employs lies, death, and destruction to ensnare and ruin the soul, casting shadows over the love and grace of Jesus. Yet, amidst this darkness, Christ’s radiant light emerges as a powerful force, breaking through the enemy’s schemes with truth and transforming despair into joy. The poem culminates in a call to stand firm under Christ’s holy reign, rising in victory with the assurance that Satan’s power is defeated, celebrating the ultimate triumph of divine light and love over evil.

The enemy with cunning whispers lies,
To weave a web of doubt within the soul,
His words, like venom, bid the heart to die,
And tear apart what once was pure and whole.
With killing hands, he strikes at peace’s core,
A shadow cast where Jesus’ love had grown,
Destruction follows, ruthless evermore,
To dim the grace that once so brightly shone.
But Christ’s radiant light arises strong,
A flame of truth to shatter every ploy,
It breaks the dark where malice lingered long,
And turns despair to everlasting joy.
So stand, my friend, beneath His holy reign,
And rise triumphant, for Satan’s might is slain.

From Jesus Christ, His Love Our Mirror by Debbie Harris

The sonnet explores how Jesus Christ’s love, as exemplified in His life and sacrifice, transforms our own love to mirror His, aligning with the virtues and endurance described in 1 Corinthians 13. It begins by asserting that because of Christ, our hearts are ignited with a love that gives meaning beyond mere words or angelic tongues, which are empty without it. The poem then highlights Christ’s patience on the cross and kindness to the lost, showing how these qualities reshape us, stripping away envy and pride while rooting us in truth. It contrasts the temporary nature of knowledge and prophecy with the eternal constancy of Christ’s love, which matures us from childish ways toward a future clarity of knowing Him fully. Finally, it concludes that while faith and hope persist, love—reflecting Christ’s boundless care—reigns supreme. The title encapsulates this: because of Christ’s example and power, our hearts strive to reflect His selfless, enduring love.

Because of Christ, whose voice outshines the din,
Our hearts, once cold, now pulse with gentle flame,
No tongue of man, no angel’s hymn within,
Can stand if love departs the soul’s acclaim.
His patience bore the thorns, the cross, the scorn,
His kindness clad the lost in mercy’s weave,
Through Him, our envy dies, our pride is torn,
And in His truth, our spirits learn to cleave.
Though knowledge dims and prophecies grow still,
His love abides, a beacon never swayed,
Our childish ways mature beneath His will,
Till face to face, we see what He has made.
So faith and hope endure, a steadfast pair,
Yet love, through Christ, reflects His boundless care.

Title: “A Tapestry of Praise”
Summary: This Shakespearean sonnet is a heartfelt expression of love and gratitude toward the Lord, woven with vivid, nature-inspired imagery. The first quatrain paints a scene of divine beauty, with golden heavens, emerald trees, cascading grace, and eternal seas of light. The second quatrain celebrates the Lord’s creation—starlit skies, silver streams, and the sparrow’s hymn—igniting the speaker’s spiritual longing. The third quatrain shifts to twilight valleys and a vibrant tapestry of colors, symbolizing the enduring presence of divine love. The concluding couplet affirmations the speaker’s devotion, portraying each breath as a song of renewal. The title, “A Tapestry of Praise,” reflects the poem’s rich, interwoven imagery and its overarching theme of worship.

The heavens bloom with gold at dawn’s first call,
A chorus whispers through the emerald trees,
Thy boundless grace cascades o’er mountain’s thrall,
And bathes the soul in light’s eternal seas.

For all Thy hands have wrought in starlit skies,
The rivers carve Thy name in silver streams,
The sparrow’s flight, a hymn that never dies,
Awakes my heart to chase celestial dreams.

Through shadowed vales where twilight paints the air,
Thy steadfast love ignites the fading flame,
A tapestry of colors rich and rare,
Unfurls beneath the echo of Thy name.

My Lord, I love Thee, radiant and true,
Each breath a song, my spirit born anew.

The sonnet “Held by Hands of Holy Might”, inspired by Psalm 62:5-7 (KJV)—”My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God”—conveys a profound trust in God as the sole source of hope and salvation. The speaker’s soul waits in silence, finding unshakable strength and refuge in God, portrayed as a rock, fortress, and shield against life’s storms. With divine might as a sustaining force, the poem celebrates a peace that illuminates freedom amidst chaos, affirming the speaker’s steadfast confidence in God’s protective care.

My soul in silence waits for God alone,
From Him my hope and expectation springs,
He is my rock, my fortress, and my throne,
A shield to guard me from all earthly stings.
Unshaken I shall stand through storm and strife,
For in His strength my wavering heart is stilled,
My refuge sure, my glory, and my life,
With holy might my spirit He has filled.
No force can move me from His steadfast care,
Salvation shines where peace has gently grown,
The rock of ages keeps me in His prayer,
My trust reposed in hands of living God.
So let the tempests rage, the shadows flee—
In Him alone my soul finds liberty.

The elders throne-ward fall in robes of light,
Their golden crowns they cast with trembling awe,
“Glory, honor, thanks,” their voices bright,
To Him who lives forever, free from flaw.
Four creatures, winged with might, lift blazing eyes,
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord,” they sing,
“God Almighty, who was, and is,” their cries,
A timeless hymn through heaven’s arches ring.
“You are worthy, Lord,” the elders’ anthem flows,
“To receive all power, honor, glory’s due,
For by Your will all things were made to be,”
Their praise resounds where crystal skies renew.
Eternal anthems rise from star to star,
Christ Jesus shines, the anthem’s shining star.

The Parallel of Carrying a Man to Bethesda and a Soul to the Throne of Divine Mercy by Debbie Harris

Upon the pool’s still edge he lay in wait,
His friends with tender care bore up his frame,
Through years of dust and sorrow’s heavy claim,
To seek the waters stirred by healing touch.
So too in prayer we lift a soul’s estate,
A burdened heart we bear to mercy’s flame,
Where grace, unseen, may whisper soft its name,
And God’s own hand redeems what time berate.
By Bethesda’s side, the Savior’s voice awoke,
A broken form made whole in sudden gleam;
In supplication’s hush, we plead no less,
That love divine might rend the spirit’s yoke.
Thus friends and prayers align in one great theme:
To carry need to power that can bless.

Beneath a sky of endless sapphire hue,
Where gentle breezes dance with blades of green,
A tender shoot in Christ breaks softly through,
Its vibrant leaves in sunlight’s glow serene.
His love, a stream of crystal, winds its way,
Through fields of gold where wildflowers sway,
Each dawn unfurls a petal’s fresh display,
A new self born in beauty every day.
The air hums sweet with honeyed notes of spring,
A lark ascends, its song a soaring flame,
In steady growth, our hearts begin to sing,
Refashioned whole within His holy name.
From soil rich with grace, we rise anew,
A living bloom beneath Heaven’s boundless blue.

Their quills did dance where mortal tongues aspire,
Charles Wesley cried, “And can it be, my chains”
Fell off, my heart unbound by love’s own fire,”
A friend in Christ triumphant o’er our pains.
Then Fanny, blind yet seeing glory’s gleam,
Proclaimed, “This is my story,” bold and free,
“Blessed assurance,” Jesus reigns supreme,
Our truest friend through all eternity.
And Whitefield’s voice, with herald angels’ call,
Did thunder, “Glory to the newborn King,”
A victor’s hymn to shatter Satan’s thrall,
In every soul salvation’s joy to ring.
These saints of old, with ink and faith arrayed,
Exalt our Friend, whose throne shall stand unscathed.

Ash And Sky be Debbie Harris

The Carnal Christian treads through ash-strewn gloom,
A faith like embers choked in muddy haze,
Claws scrape at ghosts, their tarnish dripping doom,
They swap the lily’s glow for briars’ blaze.
The Passionate Disciple storms through fire,
Christ’s voice a gale that roars through marrow’s core,
Kneels deep in dusk, lips trembling with desire,
A root that shatters granite, drenched in lore.
One staggers blind through mist, chasing glint’s deceit,
One drinks where diamond torrents carve and chime,
Flesh swathes the first in frost-bit shroud’s retreat,
While love ignites the next with wings of rhyme.
So carnal husks dissolve in twilight’s sigh,
Yet Christ’s fierce love turns tears to endless sky.
