The sonnet “The Eagle’s Ascent on Wings of Sacred Strength” poetically reflects Isaiah 40:31, portraying those who wait on the Lord as recipients of divine renewal. Beneath a vast sky, they offer patient prayers to Christ, their strength restored to rise like eagles on resilient wings. With quiet faith, they ascend beyond earthly struggles, running tirelessly and walking without weakness through life’s challenges. Rich with alliteration, the poem celebrates the enduring power and grace granted by God, culminating in an eternal uplift for the steadfast.

Beneath the boundless blue, they bide their time,
With patient pleas to Christ, the sovereign Lord,
Their weary wills, renewed by strength sublime,
Shall soar on sturdy wings that storms afford.

In quiet trust, they lean on holy might,
Their souls, uplifted, pierce the peaceful sky,
With fearless flight, they cleave the daunting height,
And rise refreshed where mortal cares deny.

Relentless, they shall run through rugged lands,
Not faltering, nor faint, their footsteps free,
With wondrous power from His guiding hands,
They’ll wander wide, defying frailty’s plea.

For those who wait, His grace shall gently lift,
A steadfast, sacred, everlasting gift.

1. “The Humble’s Crown”

Scripture: Matthew 5:3 – Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The humble heart, though frail and low it lies,
Doth find its riches in a realm unseen,
Where pride’s great tower falls, and spirit flies,
To claim a crown no earthly gold can glean.
The meek in soul, who feel their want profound,
Are lifted high beyond this mortal shore,
Their emptiness with heaven’s grace is crowned,
A kingdom vast where want shall be no more.
Through poverty of self, the gate swings wide,
To halls where angels sing eternal peace,
No wealth of man can match what dwells inside,
For in their lack, all striving finds release.
So blessed are they who know their spirit’s need,
For heaven’s reign is theirs in word and deed.

2. “Tears of Grace”

Scripture: Matthew 5:4 – Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

When tears like rivers carve the soul’s deep vale,
And sorrow’s weight bends low the weary frame,
A tender voice doth pierce the mourning wail,
To whisper peace where grief has staked its claim.
The heart that breaks beneath life’s bitter sting,
Shall find its solace in a gentle hand,
For loss, though sharp, doth sweeter comfort bring,
When healing flows from love’s eternal land.
Each sob ascends, a prayer to skies above,
And answers fall as balm on wounds unseen,
The mourner’s cloak is wrapped in boundless love,
A promise sure where tears have ever been.
So blessed are they who weep in dark of night,
For dawn shall bathe their pain in holy light.

3. “The Silent Heirs”

Scripture: Matthew 5:5 – Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

The quiet ones, who shun the brash decree,
With gentle step tread soft upon the sod,
Their strength lies not in force, but harmony,
A stillness born of trust in sovereign God.
No sword they wield, no clamor do they raise,
Yet power flows through meekness undefiled,
The earth, in time, shall sing their humble praise,
Its bounty given to the pure and mild.
While tyrants clash and thrones of iron fall,
The meek endure, their roots in silence grow,
In patience they possess the world and all,
A heritage no conquest can bestow.
So blessed are they who bow with hearts sincere,
The earth is theirs, both now and ever near.

4. “The Quest for Right”

Scripture: Matthew 5:6 – Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

A famine grips the soul that seeks the right,
A thirst unquenched by streams of worldly gain,
They yearn beneath the sun, through starless night,
For justice pure to drown all sin and pain.
Their hunger drives them past the feast of dust,
To crave a bread that mortals cannot bake,
Their parched lips call for truth in every gust,
A righteousness no tyrant hand can take.
This longing sharp shall find its full delight,
A table spread where righteousness abounds,
The empty filled, the dark ablaze with light,
A satisfaction echoing through sounds.
So blessed are they who seek with fervent will,
For heaven’s store their spirits shall fulfill.

5. “The Mercy Mirror”

Scripture: Matthew 5:7 – Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

The hand that spares, though it could justly strike,
Doth weave a thread of grace through human woe,
Forgiving hearts, to heaven’s own alike,
Bestow the balm where bitter winds may blow.
They see the fault, yet choose to mend the tear,
With kindness sown where wrath might reap its due,
Their mercy flows, a river deep and fair,
Reflecting love in all they say and do.
For as they give, so shall they find return,
A mirror held to mercy’s gentle art,
The pardon granted lights the soul to burn,
With clemency that heals the wounded heart.
So blessed are they who pity’s path embrace,
For mercy’s gift shall crown their days with grace.

6. “The Vision Pure”

Scripture: Matthew 5:8 – Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

The heart untainted, washed of guile and stain,
Doth gaze upon the world with eyes anew,
No shadow clouds its view, no sin’s refrain,
Its single aim to seek the good and true.
Through purity, a vision clear takes flight,
Beyond the veil where mortal sight grows dim,
A radiance dawns, unmarred by earthly night,
The face of God revealed to those like Him.
No falsehood binds, no lust obscures their way,
Their souls ascend where holiness resides,
In innocence, they greet the endless day,
A sight supreme that purity provides.
So blessed are they whose hearts are undefiled,
For God Himself shall greet them as His child.

7. “The Peaceborn Kin”

Scripture: Matthew 5:9 – Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Amid the clash of steel and cries of strife,
They bear the olive branch with steadfast hands,
To heal the breach and call forth gentle life,
Their words like bridges span divided lands.
No war they seek, but sow where discord reigns,
A harvest rich in unity and calm,
Their labor breaks the fetters of old chains,
Restoring peace with heaven’s soothing balm.
Through them, the world recalls a higher kin,
A family bound by love’s unbroken tie,
For peace reflects the Maker’s heart within,
And marks them heirs beneath the boundless sky.
So blessed are they who mend what hate has torn,
God’s children named, in peace forever born.

8. “The Martyr’s Gate”

Scripture: Matthew 5:10 – Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

When scorn and lash repay the righteous deed,
And shadows hunt the ones who stand for good,
Their faith endures, a flame no storm can feed,
Unbowed by chains, unbent by cruelest wood.
The world may mock, its fury fiercely rend,
Yet in their trials, glory brightly gleams,
For righteousness shall triumph in the end,
A kingdom won through persecuted dreams.
Each wound a badge, each tear a sacred sign,
Their suffering carves a path to realms above,
Theirs is a reign no tyrant can confine,
A throne secured by unrelenting love.
So blessed are they who bear the righteous scar,
For heaven’s gates before them stand ajar.

Hooves Of Heaven by Debbie Harris

The sonnet explores the biblical imagery of horses as symbols of power, judgment, and divine will. It begins with the warhorses of Pharaoh, drowned in the Red Sea, representing earthly might overcome by God. It then shifts to Zechariah’s prophetic vision of colored horses—red, white, and dappled—as God’s silent agents patrolling the earth. The poem culminates in Revelation, where Christ rides a white horse, wielding righteous judgment and ultimate victory. Horses bridge the earthly and divine, from human pride to holy triumph, embodying God’s power across scripture.

Upon the plains of earth, the horses ride,
Their thunder echoes war’s unyielding cry,
In Pharaoh’s reign, with chariots of pride,
They chased the freed, yet drowned beneath the sky.
Through Zechariah’s dreams, their colors gleam,
Red, white, and dappled, heralds of the Lord,
They sweep the world in silence, swift supreme,
God’s watchful scouts, with judgment as their sword.
Yet Revelation mounts a steed most grand,
The White Horse bears the King of endless days,
His eyes aflame, a crown upon His hand,
To break the seals and set the earth ablaze.
So horses stride, from dust to holy flame,
A testament to power in His name.

The voice of truth proclaims with steady might,
“Surely I come, and soon,” the Savior calls,
A word that pierces through the endless night,
To echo loud through hope-filled hearts and halls.
The royal saints redeemed now lift their gaze,
A dawn of grace to call saints to their place,
For in His pledge lies all eternity,
A hope that quickens every longing heart.
The earth itself awaits His promised tread,
Each breath a prayer to lift the saints I love,
When righteousness shall raise the humbled head,
And love shall reign in everlasting peace.
Amen, we cry, with faith both deep and true,
Come, Lord, and lead us forth in triumph new.

The elders throne-ward fall in robes of light,
Their golden crowns they cast with trembling awe,
“Glory, honor, thanks,” their voices bright,
To Him who lives forever, free from flaw.
Four creatures, winged with might, lift blazing eyes,
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord,” they sing,
“God Almighty, who was, and is,” their cries,
A timeless hymn through heaven’s arches ring.
“You are worthy, Lord,” the elders’ anthem flows,
“To receive all power, honor, glory’s due,
For by Your will all things were made to be,”
Their praise resounds where crystal skies renew.
Eternal anthems rise from star to star,
Christ Jesus shines, the anthem’s shining star.

Through all the earth, where foes in darkness rise,
A friend more true than heroes crowned in lore,
Doth reign supreme, His banner in the skies,
Victorious Lord, whom angels loud adore.
His mighty hand doth shatter chains apart,
His voice commands the tempests to obey,
With power vast, He lifts the trembling heart,
And turns the night to everlasting day.
No force of sin can stand against His might,
No grave can hold the glory of His name,
Triumphant King, He gilds our souls with light,
And writes our joy in lines of holy flame.
So hail we Christ, our Friend and Conqueror bold,
Whose boundless reign shall nevermore grow old.

The Carnal Christian treads through ash-strewn gloom,
A faith like embers choked in muddy haze,
Claws scrape at ghosts, their tarnish dripping doom,
They swap the lily’s glow for briars’ blaze.
The Passionate Disciple storms through fire,
Christ’s voice a gale that roars through marrow’s core,
Kneels deep in dusk, lips trembling with desire,
A root that shatters granite, drenched in lore.
One staggers blind through mist, chasing glint’s deceit,
One drinks where diamond torrents carve and chime,
Flesh swathes the first in frost-bit shroud’s retreat,
While love ignites the next with wings of rhyme.
So carnal husks dissolve in twilight’s sigh,
Yet Christ’s fierce love turns tears to endless sky.

Blessed Is The Nation Whose God Is The Lord by Debbie Harris

When nations stray from paths the Lord has laid,
Their hearts grow cold, their laws twist into chains,
Unrighteous ways invite a bitter blade,
And prideful towers crumble on the plains.
The God who spoke the stars into their flight,
Whose word upholds the mountains and the seas,
Is scorned by those who chase the fleeting night,
Trading His truth for hollow vanities.
Corruption festers where His name is banned,
While mercy fades from rulers’ iron hands,
The land grows barren, cursed by wayward man.
Yet blessed are they who heed His firm commands,
For nations built on Christ, the Rock, shall stand,
Their peace secured by Heaven’s sovereign plans.

If God Is For Us, Who Can Be Against Us by Debbie Harris

If God unfurls His banner o’er our days,
What foe could stand beneath His gentle call?
No titan’s roar, no dark that grips and sways,
Can breach the peace His tender hands let fall.
The winds may whisper through the twilight’s hush,
Yet in their sigh, His guiding star shines clear;
Foes fade like mist beneath the morning’s blush,
Dissolved within His stillness drawing near.
Who fears when cradled in this tranquil beam?
What shade could veil a light so soft and true?
From tranquil earth, a silver stream runs free,
Its gentle flow a grace that falls like dew.
Though chaos murmurs, soon its echoes cease,
With God our calm, we rest in boundless peace.
