The poem, “The Voice of Majesty: A Reflection on Calvin’s Reverence for Scripture,” captures John Calvin’s view of Scripture as a divine and authoritative revelation. It portrays the Bible as a direct expression of God’s voice, filled with grandeur and truth. The verses liken Scripture to a heavenly whisper, a guiding light, and a throne of sacred power, emphasizing its role as a conduit for God’s eternal presence and wisdom.

A whisper from the heavens, pure and grand,
Scripture speaks with God’s own hand.
As if He stood, in glory bright,
His words a flame, a guiding light.

Each verse, a throne of sacred might,
Where majesty and truth unite.
For in these pages, we behold,
The voice of God!

The poem, titled “So Much Hope”, celebrates the Christian concepts of the rapture and the eternal kingdom as sources of profound hope and inspiration. It begins with the anticipation of the rapture, depicted as a glorious moment where believers are called by a trumpet to meet Christ in the clouds. It then envisions the eternal kingdom, a place of golden streets and crystal rivers, free from sorrow and filled with God’s eternal presence. The final stanza emphasizes the boundless hope that uplifts the soul, mending hearts and fulfilling dreams in Christ’s everlasting love. The poem’s tone is uplifting, weaving biblical imagery from 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 and Revelation 21:4, 21 to evoke a sense of divine promise and eternal joy.

We are given the hope of the rapture,
A trumpet’s call, piercing the skies,
Caught up in clouds where glory gathers,
To meet our Savior with radiant eyes.

And the dream of the eternal kingdom,
Where golden streets and crystal rivers flow,
No tears remain, no shadows linger,
In God’s embrace, forever we’ll know.

In the Twinkling Light, We Rise to Eternal Glory by Debbie Harris

The poem celebrates the Christian “blessed hope” found in Jesus Christ, not in worldly things like wealth, power, or fame. It vividly portrays the rapture, where believers are swiftly taken up “in a twinkling burst of light” to meet Christ, rising through clouds to dwell with Him in eternal glory. The poem contrasts fleeting earthly pursuits with the unbroken, divine hope of eternity, closing with a fervent prayer: “Come, Lord Jesus, let Your glory shine!”

Beneath no gold, nor fleeting crown of fame,
Nor power’s grasp, nor wealth’s alluring claim,
Our blessed hope shines brighter than the sun—
In Jesus Christ, our Savior, the Holy One.

In rapture’s flash, a twinkling burst of light,
We’ll rise through clouds to meet Him in the night,
Transformed, redeemed, with hearts forever free,
To dwell with Him in radiant eternity.

Eternal hope, unbroken, pure, divine,
Come, Lord Jesus, let Your glory shine!

Below is a sonnet inspired by John 10:28, which reads in the NIV: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” The sonnet reflects the themes of divine protection, eternal security, and the unyielding love of the Shepherd.

In hands divine, where mortal fears grow still,
My soul finds rest, secure from every snare.
No force of darkness, with its fleeting will,
Can wrest me from the love that holds me there.
Eternal life, a gift that knows no end,
Bestowed by Him whose voice the heavens sing.
Through storms and trials, He shall still defend,
And shield my heart beneath His mighty wing.
No thief can steal, no power can unbind,
The promise sealed by grace that never fades.
In Christ’s embrace, my spirit is entwined,
His steadfast grip defies the fleeting shades.
Forever safe, I trust His holy plan,
Held fast within the Savior’s sovereign hand.

Sonnet: Woe Unto the False Preacher of a Deceptive Gospel by Debbie Harris

The sonnet condemns those who preach a false gospel, using deceptive rhetoric to mislead followers toward spiritual ruin. It portrays the false preacher as a self-serving manipulator whose teachings deviate from truth, guiding souls to eternal suffering. The poem reflects the grief of the true Shepherd (Christ) for those led astray and warns teachers of the consequences of spreading lies. The final line emphasizes that only authentic, Christ-centered Biblical doctrine can redeem humanity, reinforcing the call to uphold true faith.

Woe unto him who dares to preach a lie,
A twisted gospel, cloaked in sacred guise,
Whose honeyed words seduce the soul to die,
And lead the flock where burning darkness lies.

With silver tongue, he sows deceitful seed,
His doctrine false, a path to endless woe,
He turns from truth to serve his selfish need,
And bids the lost down roads where terrors grow.

The Shepherd weeps for souls by falsehood swayed,
Their hearts ensnared by charming, empty lore,
Eternal flames await where trust betrayed,
Shall find no peace upon that wretched shore.

Beware, ye teachers, lest your words condemn,
Christ’s truth alone redeems the souls of men.

The Bread of Heaven Sustaining Souls Beyond the Empty Crumbs of Prosperity’s Greed by Debbie Harris

This poem pits the fleeting, moldy offerings of prosperity preachers—crumbs of wealth that fail to nourish—against the eternal bread of Christ. Their lavish promises turn to dust, leaving hunger unmet, while Jesus, the true loaf, satisfies the soul freely and forever. His sustenance triumphs over greed’s hollow feast, bringing renewal and life without end.

They scatter crumbs from gilded trays,
Prosperity’s hawkers, bold and loud,
“Feast on wealth, your hunger’s cure,”
But the morsels mold, a starving shroud.

Their tables gleam with hollow fare,
A banquet built on fleeting dust,
Bellies ache, though plates abound,
For greed’s dry crust betrays all trust.

“I am the bread,” Christ softly calls,
“Eat of Me, and never pine,”
No price to pay, no riches weighed,
A living loaf, both yours and mine.

Their stale heaps crumble, fade to ash,
While Jesus feeds the soul’s deep cry,
One taste of Him, and life’s renewed,
A feast eternal, none deny.

The frost forgives the blade of grass,
releases it from winter’s grip—
a slow thaw, a bending back
toward light. So too, His hands,
nail-scarred, unfold the air,
and I, brittle with my own breaking,
feel the melt.

Not a loud undoing,
no thunderclap to split the guilt apart,
but a stream wearing stone smooth,
a whisper in the marrow:
You are enough, because I am.

The sparrow doesn’t rehearse its fall,
yet the ground receives it soft.
I stumble, and the earth of Him
rises to meet me—
not a judge’s gavel,
but a gardener’s touch,
pruning what was dead,
calling green from the stump.

The sky holds no memory of storm,
only the rinse of blue after rain.
So His eyes, steady as dawn,
wash the shadow from my name,
and I am held,
small and whole,
in the quiet of a mercy
that knows me better
than I know myself.

The sonnet praises government officials who govern with a deep reverence for God, portraying them as steadfast and sincere in their duties. It highlights their resistance to corruption and their commitment to justice, guided by faith rather than worldly temptations. These officials work to restore a nation united under God’s will, offering prayers and efforts to heal societal divides. The poem concludes by honoring their wise, dutiful leadership, rooted in divine love and a higher calling.

In chambers where the laws of men are shaped,
Stand guardians clad in faith, their hearts sincere,
With fear of God, their souls are firmly draped,
To serve the land with justice they revere.

No bribe can sway, nor power dim their sight,
For Heaven’s gaze directs their every deed,
They wield their charge beneath eternal light,
A higher call their mortal hands to heed.

Through storms of strife, they labor to restore,
A nation knit by grace and righteous aim,
Their prayers ascend to mend what time has worn,
One flock, one fold, beneath God’s holy name.

So honor these, who fear the Lord above,
And rule with wisdom, duty, and His love.

The Enemy’s Hate Against the Jewish People, God’s Tears, and the Son’s Triumphant Return by Debbie Harris

The sonnet portrays the rising hatred against the Jewish people, described as God’s chosen and beloved, as a fulfillment of prophecy. It highlights God’s sorrow over their suffering and urges believers to share in this grief. Despite the enemy’s persistent rage across history, the poem traces a path to redemption through the Jewish lineage of Christ, the Son, who will return in glory to defeat sin and heal the world. The faithful are encouraged to look up in hope, as darkness cannot overcome the light of the Savior’s triumphant return and redeeming power.

When hatred swells against the chosen race,
The precious ones, the apple of His eye,
God weeps to see such cruelty’s harsh embrace,
And we, His flock, should mourn as tears run dry.
Through ages past, the enemy has raged,
Against the Jews, our Lord’s own sacred kin,
Yet in their pain, redemption’s path is traced,
The Son arises, vanquishing all sin.
Look up, ye faithful, lift your weary gaze,
Our hope draws nigh, the clouds shall soon unwind,
A King returns in glory’s radiant blaze,
To heal the world, the lost, the broken, blind.
Though darkness hates what light has long foretold,
His Savior’s heart redeems us, pure and bold.

The Fallacy And Shallow Leniency of Tolerance Cloaking Sin Contrasted with the Mercy and Repentance That Yield Salvation by Debbie Harris

The sonnet critiques tolerance that excuses sin as a deceptive fault that undermines truth and justice, portraying it as a frail disguise that dulls conscience. In contrast, it celebrates mercy and grace as divine forces that freely forgive, lifting the soul from sin’s depths. It concludes that true salvation comes through repentance, granting an endless prize, far surpassing tolerance’s shallow leniency.

The thought that tolerance may cloak a fault,
A sin excused as virtue’s gentle friend,
Becomes a sin itself, a sly assault,
On truth where moral lines refuse to bend.
It winks at wrong, pretends no harm is done,
A mask of peace that hides a deeper stain,
While conscience dulls beneath a setting sun,
And justice weeps for honor lost in vain.
Yet mercy flows, a river pure and free,
With grace beside to lift the soul from mire,
No sin too vast for love’s decree to see,
A pardon born of heaven’s bright desire.
Tolerance falters, frail in its disguise,
Repentance brings salvation, endless prize.
