Dear Reader

I write to you as one who has stood under the same sky and walked the same ground you walk. Beauty keeps finding us—sometimes in the blaze of sunrise, sometimes in the small mercy of a hand extended, sometimes in the quiet order that holds the world together. These lines are an invitation to stop and look.

Scripture tells us the heavens declare the glory of God and the earth shows His handiwork. What we call beautiful is not random or empty; it carries the mark of the One who made it. The same Lord who spoke light into darkness, who numbers the stars and watches over the sparrow, is the Lord Jesus Christ—Creator, Redeemer, and the One who will make all things new.

So when you meet beauty, do not hurry past it. Let it turn your heart toward Him. Receive it as gift, not accident. And when your eyes have seen, let your soul rejoice. That is the hope behind every word that follows.

With you in the looking,

— the poet

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:3

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

John 1:1–3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Psalm 19:1

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

Psalm 147:4

He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

Isaiah 40:26

Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

Matthew 10:29–31

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Matthew 6:28–29

And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

John 20:27

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

Isaiah 53:5

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Colossians 1:16–17

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Look and see

the morning light that splits the dark

the way the Word once spoke and there was day.

The hills stand clothed in green,

the rivers run their ancient course,

and every star still keeps the path

the Maker named before the world was formed.

Look and see

the sparrow that does not fall unseen,

the lily that outshines the robes of kings,

the hands that break the bread and pour the wine—

these too are His, the same hands scarred for us.

Beauty is not accident;

it is the signature of the One who is Beauty itself.

So rejoice.

The heavens declare, the earth answers,

and every good thing points beyond itself

to the Lord Jesus Christ,

Creator, Redeemer, coming King.

Look and see—

and worship.

Psalm 34:8

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Philippians 4:4

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Psalm 100:1–2

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

**To God be the glory always and only.
