From the Poet
Dear Reader,
In an age of shifting sands and competing voices, this poem is offered as a quiet yet fervent reminder: the Bible is not merely a religious text, but the deep, unyielding Rock upon which the moral and legal foundations of our constitutional republic were laid. It draws from the great covenants of Scripture—creation, law, redemption—and the theological truths of human dignity, sin, grace, and divine order. May these verses stir reflection on the Source from which our liberties flow, and renew our commitment to guard what has been so carefully entrusted to us.
With reverence for truth and liberty,
The Poet
The Bible as the Eternal Rock & Foundation
• Matthew 7:24-25 — “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”
• Isaiah 28:16 — “Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.”
• 1 Corinthians 3:11 — “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
• 2 Timothy 2:19 — “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.”
Covenant Truth & God’s Higher Law
• Psalm 119:142 — “Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.”
• James 1:25 — “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
• Acts 5:29 — “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”
• Romans 7:12 — “Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”
Imago Dei – Human Dignity & Equality
• Genesis 1:26-27 — “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
• Genesis 9:6 — “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.”
Justice, Mercy & Liberty
• Micah 6:8 — “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
• Psalm 89:14 — “Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.”
• Galatians 5:1 — “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
Government & Authority Under God
• Romans 13:1 — “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”
• Proverbs 29:2 — “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”
The Bible stands—the eternal, sovereign Rock,
Rooted in God’s unchanging holy will.
Upon its covenant truth our Republic took stock,
Where law reflects the Author of all good and ill.
Not human reason alone, but divine decree,
Reveals the moral order, deep and wide:
Imago Dei in every soul we see,
The source of rights no government can override.
When storms of doubt or chaos shake the land,
This Book remains the anchor of the age—
Proclaiming justice tempered by mercy’s hand,
And human sin that turns each heart to cage.
It speaks of fallen nature, bent toward strife,
Yet offers grace that liberates and heals;
A framework for the state to guard each life,
Where liberty is gift, not human yield.
From Sinai’s thunder to the Sermon’s light,
Its dual covenant shapes the public square:
Creation’s dignity and conscience bright,
The rule of law that binds both rich and rare.
In Congress halls, in courts where verdicts ring,
Its unseen influence guards the fragile trust—
That governments of men must serve the King
Whose higher law redeems the unjust.
Without this Rock the pillars start to crack,
Republics fracture when their ethics stray.
But grounded in His Word, our union holds its track,
A beacon of ordered freedom’s shining ray.
So let us guard this cornerstone with care,
Return to it when vital choices call.
The Bible lifts our vision high and fair—
The Rock that makes our Republic strong and great.
