The Absurd Contradiction of Relativism Laid Bare: He Who Proclaimeth “There Is No Absolute Truth” Hath Already Testified Against Himself in the Sight of Him Who Is the Way, the Truth, and the Life by Debbie Harris

This Shakespearean sonnet exposes the self-contradiction of relativism: anyone claiming “truth is relative” unwittingly asserts an absolute truth—that relativity is universally true—thus sawing off the branch they sit on. Rooted in pride, relativism rejects logic while depending on it, mistaking chaos for freedom. The poem concludes by calling readers to abandon shifting shadows and embrace the unmoved, eternal, pure Truth—Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6 KJV). Turn to Jesus Christ, the only Savior of the world, for He alone is the absolute Truth that stands forever and offers true liberty from deception.

In essence: Relativism collapses the moment it speaks, proving absolute truth inescapable. Turn to Jesus Christ, the only Savior of the world.

John 14:6 (KJV)
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Shall truth itself be made a wandering guest,
A shape that shifts with every mortal mind?
If all is relative, then none may rest
On solid ground, for certainty is blind.
Yet he who claims “no absolute may reign”
Doth forge a blade that cuts his own decree:
For in that very word his lips maintain
An absolute — that relativity must be.

O sweet contradiction, born of pride,
Thou bidst the law of non-contradiction flee,
Yet leanest on its breast where logic died,
And callest chaos truth’s own liberty.

Let tongues that love the shadow turn to light:
Truth stands unmoved — eternal, pure, and bright.

No Trumpets, Only Lamps: Enduring Faith in a Gospel-Rejecting World by Debbie Harris

No Trumpets, Only Lamps: Enduring Faith in a Gospel-Rejecting World is a meditative poem in classical rhyming couplets that explores how believers are called to live faithfully in a culture that has largely rejected the gospel.It portrays the present era as “sin-sick” and darkened, where truth is scorned and former wrongs are celebrated. Rather than responding with loud confrontation, forced persuasion, or retreat into isolation, Christians are depicted as quiet pilgrims and watchmen: offering mercy, forgiving preemptively, speaking the gospel gently amid mockery, planting gardens in exile, and setting tables for the estranged.The poem emphasizes humble, costly witness—bearing the gospel as broken bread and cool water rather than a sword or banner, holding a lowly light so that even the spiritually blind may feel its warmth. It acknowledges the heavy nights of discouragement and the weight of rejection, yet counters them with glimpses of unmerited grace and the assurance of God’s unchanging love.The closing stanza turns toward patient hope: the faithful do not crave human approval but labor and watch in quiet expectation, trusting that the Master will return at dawn and find them steadfast.In essence, the poem is an encouragement to persevere with humble, incarnational faithfulness—neither conquering nor withdrawing, but simply carrying the light until the Lord calls His people home.

In this sin-sick age, where gospel truth is spurned,
And men in darkness clap what once was mourned,
We dwell as pilgrims, steadfast, undismayed,
Not by the crowd’s acclaim, but by the Word obeyed.

No trumpets blast to force the deaf to hear,
No flight to hills where silence reigns austere;
But quiet witness in the market’s din—
A steady lamp where shadows gather in.

We offer mercy when the stones are cast,
Forgive before the penitent is asked;
We speak the old, unwelcome, saving name,
Though mocked as folly in this age of shame.

Like watchmen posted on the midnight tower,
We hold the vigil through the darkening hour;
The horn may sound, unheard by sleeping throng,
Yet faithfulness endures, though none prolong.

As exiles planting gardens in dry ground,
We set a table where no kin are found;
The cross remains though scaffolds rise anew—
Its victim’s love the age cannot undo.

Some nights the weight of scorn would make us fall,
The fevered tide seems to have drowned us all;
Yet grace slips in, unbidden, undeserved—
A stranger’s kindness, undeservedly preserved.

So bear the gospel, not as conquering sword,
Nor trophy bright, nor banner loudly roared,
But broken bread in hands that shake with care,
Cool water offered though the lips may swear.

A lowly light, held close that blind may feel
Its warmth before the eye can see it real.
We dwell not craving praise from men below,
But waiting for the dawn that God shall show—
Who bids us labor till the Master come,
And finds us watching when He calls us home.

When Good Is Called Evil and Evil Good: Our Anchor Is in Thy Holy Word and Victory in Christ by Debbie Harris

O Lord, the world is turned upside down,
Good is called evil throughout the town.
Evil they praise and set on high throne,
Light they name dark, and sweet they call stone.

Yet we look up from this shadowed strife,
To Thee, our hope, our very life.
Thy Holy Word stands firm and true,
Our anchor sure when all is askew.

As we hold fast to what is right,
Our souls are filled with victory’s light.
For who o’ercomes this world’s dark sway?
The one who trusts in Christ each day.

Who believes that Jesus is Lord divine,
In Him the victory is thine and mine.
So here we stand, through storm and flame,
Believing still in Thy great name.

Today, tomorrow, till time shall cease,
We rest in Thee—our joy, our peace.
Through endless ages, our vow shall ring:
We believe in Thee, eternal King.

Amen.

Prove All Things; Hold Fast That Which Is Good: A Meditation on Discernment and Apostolic Wisdom by Debbie Harris

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

I Thessalonians 5:21 KJV

In ancient Thessalonica’s gentle night,
Paul penned a charge with apostolic light:
Not blind acceptance, nor hasty flight,
But measured steps in wisdom’s sight.

Prove all things—let not the heart be swayed
By every whisper, promise, or parade.
Weigh words like gold upon the ancient scale,
Test claims where truth and falsehood often veil.

The prophet speaks? The teacher stands to teach?
The spirit moves in fervor’s fervent reach?
Hold not contempt, yet yield not swift belief—
Examine all, as Bereans found relief.

Search the sacred scroll with patient care,
Trace every thread through Scripture’s thorough air.
What rings with heaven’s pure, unchanging tone?
What builds the soul and leads the lost back home?

Hold fast that which is good—grasp firm and true,
The doctrines bright with grace, with mercy new.
Let not the winds of doubt or error tear
The treasure clutched in faith’s unyielding prayer.

Abstain from evil’s every shadowed form,
Though it may glitter, dressed in virtue’s norm.
For in this proving, faith grows strong and deep,
A mind renewed where God’s own wisdom keeps.

O believer, walk this narrow, thoughtful way:
Test, discern, retain—through night to day.
In proving all, you honor Him who said,
“Prove all things”—and find the living Bread.

So let the mind, awakened and awake,
Love God with reason, for His own dear sake.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good—
In this command, true freedom understood.

Psalm 12:6
The words of the LORD are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold refined seven times.

Psalm 19:10
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the honeycomb.

Psalm 119:72
The law from your mouth is more precious to me
than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.

These capture the purity (Psalm 12), the surpassing value and delight (Psalm 19), and the personal declaration of priority (Psalm 119).

Here’s your poem presented with verses leading in:

Psalm 12:6
The words of the LORD are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold refined seven times.

Psalm 19:10
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold…

Psalm 119:72
The law from your mouth is more precious to me
than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.

Your word oh lord
is the true silver and
gold of this world.

Maranatha – Even So, Come, Lord Jesus: The Spirit and the Faithful Bride, Composed of Those Truly Born Again by Grace, Cry Out for Thy Swift Return by Debbie Harris

Before the dawn of endless day,
The Spirit moves in sovereign sway,
Across the earth in holy breath,
Awakening souls from sin and death.

The true Bride stands in spotless white—
Not every church, but those born right:
Regenerate hearts, by grace made new,
Who trust in Christ, the faithful few.

Born again through Spirit’s power,
Redeemed in this appointed hour,
She lifts her voice through every age,
A pure and spotless heritage.

“Come,” she cries, and heaven bends,
The Spirit joins as faithful friends;
“Come, Lord Jesus,” the regenerate call,
In unity that conquers all.

The thirsty raise their empty hands,
The truly seeking turn from sands;
The prisoner dreams of freedom’s gate,
The mourner finds his hope await.

Let every ear now heed the plea,
Let every soul born anew draw free
The living water, grace untold,
No merit earned, but love of old.

A promise breaks the waiting night:
“I come,” declares the Morning Light—
The Alpha, Omega, ever true,
The faithful Bridegroom comes for you.

So Spirit, Bride—true Church, reborn—
In union cry through every storm:
Come quickly, Lord, in glory bright,
Come claim Thy pure and spotless Bride.

Maranatha. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Queen Esther’s Valiant Approach: For Such a Time as This – A Royal Entrance into the King’s Presence and the Triumph of Courage by Debbie Harris

In Shushan’s palace, where the cedars weep

Resin like tears of amber in the sun,

And marble veins pulse gold beneath the feet

Of satraps bowed in silk and unison—

There dwelt a queen, fair Esther, orphaned rose,

Plucked from the ashes of a captive kin,

Her beauty veiled in mystery’s heavy cloak,

A star concealed in Xerxes’ diadem.

The king, upon his throne of ivory carved

With lions rampant, gems like frozen fire,

Held court amid the incense-clouded air,

Where harps sighed soft and eunuchs never tire.

His scepter, tipped with gold from Ophir’s mine,

Lay heavy as the edicts of his will;

To enter unannounced was death’s design,

A shadow falling swift on palace hill.

Yet Haman’s plot, that venomous decree,

Sealed doom for Mordecai’s unbowed race—

The Jews, her people, scattered like the sea

Before the storm of pride’s unholy grace.

In chambers hung with tapestries of blue,

Where fountains whispered secrets to the night,

Esther fasted, clad in sackcloth’s ashen hue,

Her heart a forge where courage burned bright.

“For such a time as this,” her cousin spake,

Through veils of peril, words like thunder rolled;

The throne room loomed, a dragon’s golden wake,

Where one false step could shatter souls of old.

She rose at dawn, in royal robes arrayed—

Purple of Tyre, embroidered with the vine,

Pearls from the deep like tears unshed cascade,

Her crown a halo forged in fear divine.

The halls unfurled like scrolls of ancient lore,

Pillars of alabaster, tall and stern,

Guarded by spears that gleamed on checkered floor,

Where eunuchs parted like a silent fern.

Her steps echoed soft on jaspers veined with red,

A heartbeat drumming ‘gainst the throne’s decree;

The courtiers gasped, the air grew thick with dread—

Unsummoned queen, what folly this might be?

Before the king she bowed, a lily bent

In tempest’s breath, her eyes like midnight pools;

His gaze, once fierce as eagles’ fierce ascent,

Now softened at her grace amid the jewels.

“If I have found favor in your sight, O king,”

She whispered, voice a harp-string finely tuned,

“Come feast with me, and let the truth take wing—

For death’s own shadow in my blood is crooned.”

The scepter rose, extended like a bridge

Of mercy o’er the abyss of royal ire;

Gold touched her hand, a spark on fiery ridge,

And life bloomed fresh from peril’s funeral pyre.

At banquets twain, ‘mid wines from Helbon’s vine,

She unveiled the serpent in the grass—

Haman unmasked, his gallows his design,

Swung high for pride’s eternal, bitter mass.

Thus courage crowned her, in that hour divine,

A queen who breached the veil for kith and kin;

The king’s edict reversed, like stars align,

And Purim’s joy from sorrow’s depths begin.

In Persia’s annals, etched in lapis stone,

Her name endures—a beacon ‘gainst the throne

Of tyranny, where faith and valor shone

For such a time as this, forever known.

Jesus Christ, Our Glorious Royal Righteousness by Debbie Harris

They stand not on the works they’ve spun,
No merit from their hands they bring;
Their prayers and tears avail them none,
Before the throne of heaven’s King.

No righteousness of theirs can stand,
Their efforts crumble into dust;
Yet Jesus Christ, with pierced hand,
Becomes their hope, their only trust.

He lived the law in perfect grace,
Obeyed where we had failed before;
He bore our curse in sin’s dark place,
And rose to open mercy’s door.

In Christ alone they stand secure,
Accepted, robed in spotless light;
His life their plea, His blood their cure,
His merit shines forever bright.

When guilt accuses through the night,
And doubt would bind them to despair,
They turn to Calvary’s finished sight:
Jesus Christ—their righteousness there.

No “Christ and them” in mingled claim,
The Savior is their all in all;
In Him the Father’s love aflame,
Receives the sinner from their fall.

They rest where heaven’s truth is plain:
Not “worthy they,” but worthy He;
Forever free from guilt and chain,
In Jesus Christ their victory.

All praise to Him who took their place,
Who clothes them in His endless worth;
The ransomed sing with one accord:
Jesus Christ is our righteousness—
Their glory, theirs forevermore.

Maranatha Echo: The Faithful Await His Glorious Return by Debbie Harris

In hush before the dawn’s first gleam,
Souls turn from earth’s deceitful throne,
Where shadows lengthen in cold dream,
And hearts grow chill in sins unknown.

Yet in the chamber of the mind,
The faithful choose the nobler part:
To fix their gaze on Him divine,
Fairest of ten thousand, pure in heart.

Behold the splendor yet to come—
When trumpet sounds with sudden might,
Not worldly crowns, but His alone,
Descending in eternal light!

The graves shall open, treasures yield;
The living rise on wings of grace;
Each knee shall bow, in field or field,
Before the Savior’s wounded face.

Maranatha! The cry ascends—
Come, Lord Jesus, come in power!
This hope becomes their daily bread,
A shield through every darkened hour.

Upon those shoulders, scarred for sin,
The government shall ever rest:
Justice and mercy intertwined,
In everlasting reign so blest.

Till that bright Day, their eyes stay fixed,
Their hearts aflame with holy fire—
Jesus Christ, the All in all,
Forever worthy, ever higher.

From Celestial Heights: The Sorrow of Esther and Mordecai Beholding the Depravity of Persia’s Modern Throne by Debbie Harris

In Susa’s ancient halls, where once she rose,
A queen of hidden courage, brave, composed,
To shatter chains that Haman forged in hate,
And save her kin from Persia’s cruel fate—
Now Hamadan’s old stone, in silence weeps,
Where Esther’s tomb its quiet vigil keeps.
From heaven’s height, the righteous pair looks down,
On darkened rule that wears a thorny crown.
Mordecai sees the land he once redeemed,
Now bound again by tyranny’s cold scheme.
How deep the sorrow in celestial sight,
To witness light eclipsed by endless night—
Yet Purim’s joy, through ages, still proclaims:
From deepest gloom, deliverance often came.
Hope lingers yet beneath the tyrant’s rod;
The God of Esther works through humble blood.
