The sonnet, titled “Against Liberal Progressives Erroneously and Grievously De-Lionizing the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” critiques the tendency of liberal progressives to dilute the gospel’s power. It emphasizes that true worship belongs to Jesus Christ, not to charming or softened rhetoric. The poem accuses progressives of weakening Christ’s authority by softening His call to repentance and truth, thus “de-lionizing” His fierce, transformative gospel. It reaffirms Christ’s balanced approach—speaking truth about sin with love, as seen in His command to “repent, and sin no more.” The sonnet calls believers, all sinners saved by grace, to uphold the gospel’s boldness, rejecting diluted versions and honoring Christ as the reigning “Lion” whose truth endures.

We bow not to the charm of winsome grace,
Nor bend to pleasing words that dull the soul.
Our worship soars to Christ, His righteous face,
Who wields the truth to make the broken whole.

Progressives, cloaked in softness, dim His light,
De-lionizing Christ, they strip His might.
They shroud the gospel’s edge, its piercing bite,
And trade His roar for whispers in the night.

Yet Jesus spoke of sin with love’s clear call,
“Repent, and sin no more,” His voice resounds.
As sinners saved by grace, we heed His thrall,
Exposing wrong, we stand on holy grounds.

No watered Word shall tame our Savior’s reign,
For Christ, the Lion, lives to rule again.
