Sonnets Proclaiming the Majesty of Christ as Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” is a radiant quintet of Shakespearean sonnets that exalt the five holy names of Jesus Christ from Isaiah 9:6, proclaiming His majestic glory as the Savior who redeems and reigns. Each sonnet celebrates one name—Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace—unveiling a distinct facet of His divine nature: awe-inspiring wonders, wise counsel, unstoppable might, eternal fatherhood, and sovereign peace. Together, they weave a poetic tapestry of praise, inviting souls to marvel at His majesty and find Him through His transformative love.

  1. Wonderful: Christ’s name dazzles with miracles—stars spun, lame raised—a wonder that ignites worship and awe.
  2. Counsellor: His boundless wisdom guides the lost, a light of truth piercing life’s darkest riddles with love.
  3. The Mighty God: His power commands creation and crushes sin, a warrior King saving with tender strength.
  4. The Everlasting Father: His timeless love endures, a Father’s care granting an eternal heritage to all if born again!
  5. The Prince of Peace: His reign stills strife, a gentle peace flowing from cross to throne, calming every storm.

Themes and Tone

Rooted in Isaiah 9:6’s exact words, the series is a Christ-centered proclamation of His majesty—each name a crown jewel reflecting His glory. Imagery of stars, storms, chains, and rivers paints a vivid, timeless picture, free of dated clutter. The tone is exultant and reverent, blending awe with intimacy, urging readers to see Christ’s splendor and draw near. It’s a majestic call to worship, echoing your heart to honor Him.

Purpose

These five sonnets proclaim Christ’s names to glorify His majesty and fulfill your prayer that many find Jesus. They spotlight His wonders, wisdom, might, fatherhood, and peace as gifts of grace, offered through His life, death, and resurrection—a poetic invitation to know the King whose majesty reigns forever.

Sonnet I: Wonderful

All wonders bow before His sacred name,
Christ, Wonderful, whose works defy our tongue,
The stars He spun, the lame He raised to fame,
A symphony of grace from Heaven sung.
No mind can grasp the marvels He hath wrought,
Each miracle a glimpse of love divine,
Through Him, the lost are found, the blind are taught,
A name that shines where mortal lights decline.
His glory dazzles through the dark of night,
A benefit of awe to lift our gaze,
This wonder bids us worship in His sight,
A Savior cloaked in everlasting praise.
O Christ, whose name doth awe inspire,
Thy wonders set our hearts afire.

Sonnet II: Counsellor

His counsel flows from wisdom’s boundless well,
Christ, Counsellor, whose mind doth all foresee,
To wandering hearts, His guidance doth compel,
A path of truth through life’s perplexity.
The lost He leads with insight pure and bright,
Each question met with answers from above,
This benefit doth pierce the darkest night,
A gift of understanding wrapped in love.
No riddle stands beyond His holy sight,
His word a lamp to feet that falter still,
Through Him, we walk in clarity and might,
A Counsellor who bends to human will.
O Lord, whose wisdom doth abide,
Thy name doth ever counsel and provide.

Sonnet III: The Mighty God

The Mighty God in humble flesh arrayed,
Christ wielded power o’er the storm and sea,
With voice divine, He broke the night’s dark raid,
And crushed the chains that bound humanity.
No force can stand where His dominion reigns,
The mountains quake, the heavens bow in fear,
Yet in His might, He bears our mortal pains,
A strength made known through every falling tear.
His arm doth save where sin had claimed its prey,
A warrior King whose love doth conquer all,
This name of might doth light our every day,
A fortress firm when shadows seek our fall.
O Christ, whose power knows no end,
Thy might doth save and souls defend.

Sonnet IV: The Everlasting Father

From age to age, His name doth never fade,
Christ, The Everlasting Father, reigns supreme,
Before the worlds, His purpose was displayed,
A timeless love that flows in endless stream.
The years may flee, yet He remains the same,
Eternal root from which all life doth spring,
Through Him, we claim a heritage and name,
A benefit beneath His endless wing.
No end shall mark the mercy He bestows,
A constant care through every fleeting hour,
This name of old in ceaseless glory grows,
A rock unshaken by the tempest’s power.
O Lord, whose years shall ever be,
Thy lasting love doth set us free.

Sonnet V: The Prince of Peace

The Prince of Peace doth still the raging strife,
Christ’s name a balm where wars of heart contend,
Through Him, the soul finds rest from mortal life,
A tranquil gift that broken spirits mend.
The swords are stilled, the clamor fades to hush,
His whisper bids the storm to bow and cease,
This peace He brings, a river’s gentle rush,
A benefit of calm that doth increase.
No tumult stands where He hath set His throne,
A kingdom built on love and not on might,
Through cross and crown, His mercy is made known,
A peace eternal born of Heaven’s light.
O Savior, Thou who reigns serene,
Thy name brings peace where chaos reigned unclean.

O Jesus Christ, our Savior King,
To Thee our hearts and voices sing,
With boundless love and grace divine,
Thy holy light forever shines.
Refrain:
All praise to Thee, O Lord most high,
Our song ascends beyond the sky,
Forevermore, Thy name we bless,
Our King of love and righteousness.

Thou Lamb of God, who bore our sin,
Thy sacrifice, our hope begins,
In humble manger, born so meek,
The lost and weary still You seek.
Refrain:
All praise to Thee, O Lord most high,
Our song ascends beyond the sky,
Forevermore, Thy name we bless,
Our King of love and righteousness.

Eternal Lord, enthroned above,
Thy mercy flows, Thy boundless love,
The cross of sorrow, crown of might,
Has brought us into glorious light.
Refrain:
All praise to Thee, O Lord most high,
Our song ascends beyond the sky,
Forevermore, Thy name we bless,
Our King of love and righteousness.

All praise to Thee, our risen Lord,
Thy name forever be adored,
Through endless ages, we proclaim,
All glory to Thy holy name!
Refrain:
All praise to Thee, O Lord most high,
Our song ascends beyond the sky,
Forevermore, Thy name we bless,
Our King of love and righteousness.
