Based on Numbers 22:21-35

When humble beast, with burdened back, gave tongue,
A miracle beneath the desert sun,
The prophet’s ears, by pride so tightly strung,
Heard truth from lips where silence had begun.

The angel’s blade, unseen by mortal sight,
Stood guard to turn aside a wayward fate,
Yet through the donkey’s voice, in meekest might,
God’s mercy spoke to mend what pride would break.

Love enfolds each creature, great and small,
From sparrow’s wing to braying beast’s refrain,
A poet’s heart may hear the tender call,
Where life itself becomes a grand refrain.

So every soul, by grace, a hymn may sing,
For love resounds in every living thing.
