Zechariah 9:9- Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

John12:12-19- The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! ” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”

Luke 19: 28-44

After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’ ” Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them.  As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” They replied, “The Lord needs it.” They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”  Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”  “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it – and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.  The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

Luke 19: 28-44

“Lift up your heads, O you gates; even lift them up, you everlasting doors; and the King of Glory shall come in.” Psalm 24:9.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Light of the world whose eternal, exquisite Heavenly, Holy light can

never fade or dim, Redeemer of humanity, blessed servant to all,

beloved and perfect, righteous Son of God whose royalty and divinity

is worshipped day and night with a myriad of Heavenly and earthly

symphony filled Hallelujah’s rides, into a city He loves on a lowly colt,

one that had never been ridden on before. A humble donkey who surely

knew that this was indeed precious cargo for in a moment His wildness

went out of Him.  Two symbols of peace, an earthly and a holy one, a lowly

colt and our majestic King of Kings and Lord of Lords triumphantly journeying

into a city over which he weeps for they do not recognize Him as their Lord and

King. How slow the donkey’s stride must be. How proud his steps must have

been. For this untamed chosen colt ,now tamed, knew His creator whom he

carried, was the worlds Savior and King. And the King of Glory rode

onto a  blanket of palm leaves and “Hosanna’s to the King” from those who

worshipped him. For His disciples were praising, honoring, and adoring

Him by loudly proclaiming such victorious truths . For they were merely

but repeating what they knew, and what they had seen, because  Jesus was

their teacher, Savior and friend. For is this not what all of Heaven, the

angels, and the great crowd of witnesses joyfully, and loudly sing thorough

out  all of heaven to the Ancient of days? For with such adulations and

adorations His disciples worshipped their Messiah and King. And their

words were such as these, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the

Lord even the King of Israel. Blessed is the coming kingdom of our

Father David, Hosanna in the highest,“Peace in heaven and glory in the

highest.” These were the praises like hymns that so joyfully rang throughout

the streets of earthly Jerusalem. As these should also be our joyous earthly

songs as forgiven eternal, royal children of our  humble, servant King.

And  yet all the while, as he was riding into His beloved city, Jesus saw

into the hearts  of those who hated Him. For He indeed could see into the

inner thoughts of all. For He was their Creator, the one  who knit them

together in their Mother’s womb. And then, now, and forever our Savior

weeps for all who belligerently reject our Savior’s call. For our Savior,

Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords of all earthly and

eternal glory knew, that this was the beginning of His God given,

divinely appointed destiny, the road to the garden of  Gethsemane,

a scene of such agony, and betrayal, and Golgotha’s Cross, the scull

shaped hill where hell was forever and eternally defeated and the

gift of imputed righteousness was gloriously offered to all. Such a

blessed, celebratory entrance into the city He so loved. For He is

the blessed, incalculable, grace drenched, King coming for all.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting

life.” For because of his Cross, his death, his love, his grace, his agony,

his anguished brokenness for all souls of humanity, his Holy, loving,

tender, humble, heart bids us, pursues us, invites us all to come as

we are to the throne room of grace, to see the Cross, to see His love

as he hangs upon the cross  arms outstretched to all of us to receive

the gift of all gifts, the free, inestimable, incalculable mercy drenched

gift of  Salvation, Jesus Christ, our risen, living Savior and King. This

glorious victorious, joyful, triumphant entrance of Jesus Christ into a

city where many loved and hated Him is our redeemer’s Holy hope

and prayer for every people, every tribe and every nation. For the

entrance of the King of glory riding  on a lowly colt is a picture of our

humble Savior always offering love, forgiveness, mercy, grace, and hope.

This Holy, scene which leads to passion week is such a demonstration of

our Savior’s royal invitation and so much more. For the Savior of  the world,

the King of glory invites us all to receive His life giving gift filled with

forgiveness, mercy and love. For this, this, this, this Holy, sovereign and divine

event is what the sinful heart, mind and life is truly meant for, the victorious,

triumphant, blessed, royal, entrance of Jesus Christ into each and every  soul.
