Blessed [inwardly peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect] are the gentle [the kind-hearted, the sweet-spirited, the self-controlled], for they will inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:5 (AMB)

I saw a homeless man and woman

on the streets. Their outward clothes

were tattered. By no fault of their

own they found themselves without

an earthly home. I saw them when

they were hungry.  They gave their

food away to those in need for inside

their hearts lived our Triune God.

They prayed with those who were

hurting and with those who had no

earthly goods. They befriended those

whose earthly smell was repugnant.

I saw those who were rich walk away

when they saw this couple’s poverty

and need. I saw the world frown upon

their selfless acts of Godliness. They

derided them because of their sacrificial

and gentle acts of true and noble righteousness.

And yet no matter how great the derision

and mocking they continued their Godly quest.

While the world ignored, rejected, and shamed them.

Their goal remained the same. For their Christ-given

goal and their inward mission was not dusty earthly

praise but Heavenly applause. Blessed [inwardly

peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect] are

the gentle [the kind-hearted, the sweet-spirited,

the self-controlled], for they will inherit the earth.
