Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Prov 12:18
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement.
Matthew 12:36 (KJV)
Whose grace and love in endless rivers run,
We bow beneath Thy truth, our hearts to grope,
For idle words that wound what Thou hast won.
Each careless thought, each piercing, deathly sound,
We lift to Thee in penitential plea,
Forgive the tongue that dares to strike unbound,
And cleanse the speech that strays from purity.
Accountable, we stand before Thy throne,
Each damaging word a weight we cannot flee,
Yet in Thy light, our sins Thou dost atone,
Thy boundless truth sets captive spirits free.
So may we speak with love, Thy grace our guide,
In Christ redeemed, our words with Thee abide.
